Citroën Xsara SX: Front windscreen wipers inoperational?
Hi,
Vehicle:
Citroën Xsara SX, Petrol, Manual, UK, Y registration (2001).
Symptoms:
Front wipers inoperational. The condition of the blades and arms are good.
Notes:
[*] No service manual, owner's manual, Haynes manual, fusebox layout, etc. Just me and a torch.
[*] The rear wash/wipe is working.
[*] I do not know which fuse(s) to check, if anybody does this would be very helpful. The front washers are operating fine, so if the motor and washers are on the same fuse, this is moot.
[*] I have no idea how to access and check the front wiper motor.
I'm no expert, but I have replaced alternators and wired accessories in the past, I'll do my best to look into anything to help. It's an old car, and obviously things fail over time. I have removed the steering column cover but all wires look as new.
Thanks for your time,
Bob
5 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs8 years agoCould you help me fix some bass guitar electrics?
I've tried to replicate the circuit as best I can here, I'm afraid it's more pictorial than scientific:
http://69.16.250.134/smarshonline/kingbob/wp-conte...
I know a little bit about electronics, and a little bit about bass guitars, so my friend asked if I could fix his for him when it broke; the short answer is, I can't.
The guitar is a 4-string AXL Tiger Pro bass with 1 humbucker and 1 single-coil, 4 dials (not labelled) and a 9V battery socket (I guess that makes it an active bass?)
The manufacturer has gone bust or been sold or something; I did contact the current company with the same name, but their engineers were unable to help, or at least, so they said.
It might not be the world's best bass, but it means a lot to my friend and if you can help, please do.
My best guess is that the blue purple and yellow wires have come disconnected from the pot with no connections, but that doesn't explain the stray black wire, nor the strange solderings, nor does it tell me which terminal to reconnect them to. I don't want to do any damage to the electronics, so I won't do anything without solid advice.
Finally, if you can think of a better category to file this under, by all means include it at the end of your answer and I'll consider posting it there too; I figure engineers will know most about this, because the music section is more about listening to music, not maintaining instruments.
Many thanks,
Bob
4 AnswersEngineering9 years agoIsuzu Trooper (year 2000) wiring question?
I have a UK Isuzu Trooper Insignia Mk IV (year 2000, V reg).
I want to connect an accessory to the positive terminal of the accessory battery. I have wired up the accessory, and it has a ground wire and positive wire waiting to be connected. Question is, what do I do next?
I don't know if I should disconnect the negative terminal on top of each battery (or if that's even possible on one of these) before I continue?
Previously I'd always just disconnect the negative terminal of a vehicle battery, then proceed, but I've never had a dual-battery vehicle, and I know there's a split-charge relay underneath somewhere; I hope I don't need to touch that?
I'm quite lost, intuitively I would think to try and disconnect both negatives, but how?
Thanks in advance.
2 AnswersOther - Car Makes1 decade agoSJ Samurai - My air inlet housing has a smaller diameter than my carburettor, where can I find a larger one?
I have a 1995 Suzuki SJ413 Samurai, 1.3L petrol, manual gearbox.
I've recently been to the Suzuki dealer and purchased the factory-standard carburettor air inlet housing, but it will not attach to my carburettor.
I suspect this is because the carburettor has been changed at some point; apparently it's common for this to happen to SJs.
I'm reluctant to mess with the carburettor - it works just fine how it is.
I've thought about sanding/grinding the housing inlet until it is the same diameter as the carburettor, but I may then struggle to find a rubber washer/grommet to seal it with.
Also, the plate attaching to the carburettor has no way to attach the inlet housing; surely it's not expected to just "float" atop?
What can I do?
