  • Should I Sue My Former Employer For Sexual Harassment?

I was already granted unemployment for quitting due to sexual harassment; I had to prove it, though. Should I go the next step and sue my former employer? It was a great job making $23 per hour. I'm not trained to do anything else and I was planning to retire from there. :(

  • Should I Go To College At My Age?

I'm almost 40 and stuck in a "dead end" job that pays well but doesn't leave me with much of a life because I have to work EVERY weekend and EVERY holiday. It does not offer any advancement. I also have to work around smokers. I don't smoke. It irritates my allergies just to be around it. (I work in a casino so that's why it's allowed. they are exempt.)

I have this crazy notion to quit my job and return to my dream of going to nursing school. I used to be a CNA (certified nurse assistant) many years ago but since I was not working as one my license expired and the only way to get it back is to go trough the class again and there just happens to be one starting up in 10 days! The class is 5 days a week 8 hours a day and lasts for three weeks. It also costs $500. I have the $500 but to take the class I would have to up and quit my current job. This CNA certification is also a requirement if I want to get into the local college nursing program after I take the prerequisites.

I have a 401K at my job and I could cash that out and live on it until I got a new job if I had to. There are currently 43 open positions for CNA's in my area so I don't think I will have a problem finding another job after I'm recertified. And the college offers classes during the summer. I thought I could go to school during the summer and send our daughter to summer camp during the day while I'm in school and then work as a CNA either on the weekends or in the evenings.

My husband thinks I'm crazy! Like I'm going through some mid-life crisis! Am I really too old to be doing this?

  • How Can I Convience My Boss To Place Me On A Different Shift?

Where I work there is a BIG pay difference between day shift and night shift. Night shift gets paid more. A LOT more... There is a list about a year long to get on night shift.

That being said, I have been with the company for 2 years and never once wanted to be on night shift, even though I am eligible, however now I find that I HAVE to be.

My daughter has been experiencing such strong bullying at her school that she's become depressed and have often talked to me about suicide. She's only 9!!

Her pediatrician referred her to a therapist and told me to switch her schools to get her away from the problem. Switching classes won't work because she is in the high ability classes and there is only one in her grade. So if she stayed in this high ability class she will be with these same children for the next school year as well!. *THAT'S* where my problem is!

I can get a transfer to switch her school out of the district (it's a small town so she will have to go to the next town over) but I will have to provide my own transportation.

To make matters even more murky my husband was recently hired on at the company he's been working at for the last 8 months via a temp agency at almost DOUBLE what the temp agency was paying! (Yay!) But his hours will go from 11pm to 7am to 3pm-to 11pm. I work 12-8 with a few 9-5's thrown in on various weeks. I also work EVERY weekend. All of the child care providers in this area close at 6. Even the YMCA. None of them are open on the weekends. My husband will have to work some weekends as well.

The only way I can make this work for my daughter is if I can work on the night shift. (1am to9am.)

That way my husband can take her to school at 7am and I can pick her up at 4pm.

Otherwise, she will be left at school until I can get off work at 8pm and get home by 9pm. We all know that can't happen.

I have an appointment with my boss's boss- the head of our department! What should I say to convince him that I should be placed on this premium shift ahead of all the other employees currently on the waiting list? (horrible way to put it but it is what it is.)

FYI- I do have FMLA for my daughter's depression and anxiety. Would that make a difference?

My only other choices are to drop from full time to part time so I can get the hours that I need. But then I won't have any insurance and my daughter won't be able to see her therapist until my husband is eligible for insurance coverage after 90 days. Or, my husband could turn down the job offer. But I'm not sure they would keep him on via the temp agency if he did.

    What should I do?!?

  • Asking My Dr. For New B/P & Migraine Meds? Beta Blockers.?

I am currently on the beta blocker Lopressor 25mg once a day for high blood pressure.

I am on Depakote for migraine prevention.

Both meds have a history of causing weight gain and I, sadly, am no exception.

Since September I have gained close to 30 pounds.

All I want to do is sleep. I can sleep for 14 hours at a time. Wake up, eat and go back to sleep. I'm usually even too tired to do my nightly bath routine.

( I mean like shaving & stuff that takes so long but is just for aethstetics I'm still washing)

My sex life with my husband is non-existant.

And perhaps one of the most disturbing side effects is the swelling of my legs! They are so swollen that I can push on them and they are "squishy" like Play-Doh! It actually leaves an impression!

    My questions are:

1.) Is anyone else having this problem?

2.) Are there any other meds that I could ask about switching to that some of you have had success with?

    Thanks!

  • What Can I Do About This 78 Year-Old Neighbor?

He lives across the street. He's a retired city worker. Everyone in this small town knows him. He's never been married. He lives alone. Has Meals On Wheels deliver food to him.

Every day he walks to the store on the corner and buys a single serve bottle of chocolate milk. He also drinks Pepsi in a can. When someone takes him to the grocery he gets a 12 pack.

The problem is that he is throwing his empty milk bottles and empty Pepsi cans into my front yard!

Some people have suggested that I collect the cans and recycle them. (which I do) but that doesn't solve the problem.

I have thought about calling the local police and asking them to speak with him. They all know him.

    What do you think?
