What does yandis mean?
From the game where every time the other person hands you something you must say yandis or you lose (after breaking a wishbone with them).

Preferably one available in the US, but those only in Greece I'll keep in mind for later.
8 AnswersGreece1 decade agoCan anyone tell me anything about this ancient Greek dish? Description in details.?
It looks to be in the white ground technique. Shown is what I assume to be an athlete riding a horse, followed by a flying Nike holding two rings, which might be wreaths (the picture's fairly small, so I'm having trouble deciding if they are). The horse has a long-necked bird riding on its neck, and there are three of the same type of bird below the horse. Then, flying toward the horse is a different type of bird, which I think is a raven. The dish has two handles, is circular, and has a black border around the edge. I believe it's from early Sparta.
Does anyone have any ideas for how to find out more about this? A good museum website, a book that might help (preferably with pictures so I can make a match for sure) or maybe a better way of searching? Google so far has given me nothing.
Thanks everyone for your time!

3 AnswersLanguages1 decade agoIs there a pattern of similarities between Ireland and Greece?
Not cultural similarities, per se. However, Greece and Ireland often have similar rankings in statistics, they seem to face similar problems, and it seems to me that they have both developed in similar ways. I asked this first in the Greek Travel section, here: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=200912...
I would like to know if there are others who agree with me. If not, I plan to come back later with a list of some of that which I have observed, in order to clarify.
3 AnswersOther - Ireland1 decade agoAre there similarities between Greece and Ireland?
First, nobody bite my head off. I mean no harm, and you know that.
I also don't mean culturally. More so in the way that they've both developed. I was wondering if anyone else has noticed that they both seem to have followed similar paths.
So what I'm going to do is submit this. If you agree, let me know. But if the general response is confusion, I'll edit with what I've noticed so that no one thinks I'm insane.

We've had questions about Greek authors recently, but now I want to know which individual books you like the most.
8 AnswersGreece1 decade agoCan anyone correct this Spanish essay for me (It's about 300 words)?
I've been sick at home and so haven't received the revised copy of this essay from my professor. I was wondering how I did and how much more I would have to correct for the next class. Does anyone have any ideas of what mistakes I made (especially with the grammar)?
No me estás ayudando.” No entiendo.”

7 AnswersFootball (American)1 decade agoDoes anybody know when/if Duress will be released in the U.S.?
Is it the same as the 3/12 date for Greece? Or a different date? Or will it not be released at all? I can't find anything with Google.
1 AnswerGreece1 decade agoI miss my pointe shoes! What are some exercises I can do so that it will be easier once I have them back?
Okay, so I'm away at University right now. I forgot to bring my pointe shoes with me, but I really miss them. I can feel my feet wanting to put them on and dance. Since I obviously can't go up beyond demi-pointe without them, (or at least, I'm not supposed to) I was wondering if anyone had any stretches with similar movements to suggest. Especially if there's something that will require using both foot strength and flexibility at the same time like you would rising onto a full pointe. That way, when I have my pointe shoes with me again, I won't have a lot of trouble and it will be easier. Thank you to anyone who helps!

3 AnswersFootball (American)1 decade agoWhere do I find a bikini that will fit a bigger boob size?
Okay, so here's my problem. My bra size is a 34/36DD. Whenever I go shopping for bathing suits it takes forever. There are never any tops that actually fit because they're all made for C cups at the most. Is there any store that specializes in bikinis or swimsuits sized the same way that bras are instead of the usual small-medium-large? I ended up spending all of last summer in a sports bra with a tank top over it because all the tops I found looked absolutely obscene on me. I'd really like to be able to wear an actual bathing suit this year.
BTW, I'm located in Florida, near a beach. It's 80 and sunny, so it would be nice if I could find one now, not next summer or later in the year. I just realized that some of you up north might think I'm crazy for asking this in November, but I swear I'm not.
So does anyone have any advice or a solution? Know of any stores that are good for this?
7 AnswersFashion & Accessories1 decade agoI have a two part question about the Greek language. Will you help me please?
The first thing is that I want to know what the following words mean: "gavroi", "vazeloi", "gyftoi", and "skoulikia."
The second is that I want someone to tell me about the use of the word "re." How informal is it? Is it just informal or is it insulting? My Yiayia describes it as a lower class word. Is that basically the opinion of the majority?
Thank you to everyone who helps me with this.
