Just got Studio Beats by Dre yesterday but there's one huge problem. Whenever I turn the headphones on when it's plugged into either my phone or laptop, there's a terrible white noise. Even when I hit play and actually start listening to music, I hear it. I can't stand it for more than 30 seconds before my ears hurt like a *****. It's even worse when it's connected to my laptop (one of the brand new Asus touch ones) but earphones fair just as poorly there anyhow. Anyone else experiencing the same thing?

Any solutions you might be able to offer me would be great. I really wanted noise cancelling headphones and Beats just has a better look than most, if not all, other brands.

So here's what's going on. I have the new Asus touch screen laptop with Windows 8 and the Super Multi LG "Slim Portable DVD Writer." I have the external drive plugged into the laptop via USB cord with a regular DVD for a TV show. The problem is now that everything's inserted, plugged in, and running I still have nothing. The laptop seems to recognize the presence of the external drive, but when I go to Libraries and click on the "DVD RW Drive" (which says beneath it "0 bytes free of 7.75 if that matters), it gives no option to play the disc. Instead it jumps right to folders labelled "Video" and "Audio" both which are empty. Can anyone please help me out here? The guy at BestBuy assured me the device was capable of both burning CDs and reading regular DVDs like any build in hard drive.

Whenever I listen to music with my earphones I'll rip them out after about fifteen minutes. I never even play my music loud. Half the time the volume bar doesn't even near the half way point. It's to the point where one session of short listening occurs and I can't listen again for days. They'll continue to hurt and feel sore even hours after. Just last night I was playing my phone like a speaker at high volume, but I couldn't get through a whole album before my ears felt sore again. I wasn't even very close to my phone. Regular listening to voices and sounds don't bother me at all, and I almost feel like the situation with the speakers only happened because of when I used earphones. Usually it's the right ear more than the left. Any ideas?

My brother likes free roaming games and I've heard a lot about this Assassin's Creed 3, and he mentioned he wanted to get it with his new money sometime soon. After he beats the game will he continue to be able to free roam the city and forest and what not? I just want to make sure I'm getting something he's into. He ends up holding onto games he can continue to play freely far longer than campaign games like Call of Duty or Halo. I don't know if it matters to add he would probably want to the laptop version of the game. Thanks in advance! :)

When I was younger and played the Sims 3, CanYouRunIt always said I shouldn't have been able to. However, despite the alleged shortcomings of my previous laptop, Sims always ran just fine without delays. Can anyone give me a more reliable answer? Thanks in advance! :)

I specifically asked the employee at BestBuy if the laptop I was purchasing was capable of playing DVDs to which he replied as if it were obvious, "Of course!" A week or two later when it arrives, guess what? No DVD drive and when I searched the same product online they also mention it comes without one. Am I missing something? Is there something I need to buy? If not and I need to replace it, what should I purchase instead? I liked the Windows 8 layout and touch screen features a lot.

In a little over a week I'm going to London for 10 days and obviously it's going to be cold and rainy at some point. We'll be touring basically everyday doing most of it on foot so what should I be wearing specifically so I'm prepared for the weather without looking like an idiot? I know fashion can't really be a priority but I'd like to look presentable compared to the locals.

I'm ignorant about how exactly military ranks and pay grades work but if there's a squad of at least 8 people how does that structure work? How does one earn the position to lead and what would that rank be called? What would other ranks be within the squad? Does each soldier have a specialty (demolitions, sniper, etc.) and if so which? I'm using this for writing idea and I want to sound coherent when it's done.

I'm joining a Krav Maga class that requires gloves so I figured I'd go out and buy my own. I ended up picking up some MMA Gel Training Gloves with open fingers and a gel pad protecting the knuckles. I noticed a few other Krav fighters have gloves with more wrist support although the gloves I have have a great wrapping system that holds everything nicely. Are these good enough?

According to "Can You Run It?" my laptop failed, although my laptop has failed a test before for another game and it runs absolutely fine. I currently have a Dell 1545 with an apparently inadequate Pentium(R) Dual-Core CPU T4300 @ 2.10GHz and Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family. Is there any way I can get an Intel i3 processor and a more advanced video card? Thanks!

It claims I failed the CPU and Dedicated Video Ram piece of the test but like I said before, it said it failed with the Dedicated Video Ram and Sims 3 has no issues so I'm not sure how reliable the site is. Can I still get this for their Christmas gift and have it still run okay? Thanks!

The last week or so I have felt like a totally different person in general and it's translated onto the court. Try outs have been this week but even though I've played my whole life and I've been a starter I don't feel like it's me playing. It's not even a question of being out of shape. I'm not feeling like the same rising player as I was the year before and I'm afraid it's time to let basketball go. It's not like there's no other things I can if I get cut but it's a hard choice. I'm afraid that if I stick with it I still won't be me and I'll be miserable. And if I stay with it and feel miserable to the point I feel like I have to let go that's unfair to the teammates that got cut. I'm struggling with this a lot. I've always felt pressure from my family and the parents yelling from the crowd but I used to be able to tune them out. Now I can't. I hear everything. There's other guards that'll dominate playing time over me without question. Most of my friends play but I know they wouldn't dislike me for not continuing with them. I'm not sure whether it's my love of basketball or my coaches/team that makes the choice so hard. Either choice I lose. My grades are slipping with trig and 2 AP classes. I don't know what to do. Quitting isn't my thing but I know I'm not getting a scholarship through this sport. As you can see by my user name I'm kind of having an identity crisis. Please give me some guidance. It's 11th grade and I'm getting grade issues because trig, AP Spanish, and AP history kind of suck. I've played basketball my whole life and last year I started. The try outs are competitive this year and there's other guards that will dominate playing time over me without question. I haven't felt like myself all week and I have no idea why. It has nothing to do with being out of shape or lacking confidence. Now I'm faced with a dilemma. If I'm cut there's other things I can do but it's going to suck without my friends who all play. If I make the team I risk being miserable for three months because I'm not sure my heart's in it anymore. And if I were to decide during the season I had enough that would be unfair to my teammate that was cut. Asking for her advice, my friend told me "if you flipped a coin and heads was you stuck with it and tails was you quit, you'd have a preference." But I don't know if I do. I lose either way. Quitting isn't my style and by looking at my user name you can see my obvious identity crisis. How do I know which side of the line I belong on?
