  • What are the easiest credit cards to get?

I need to build credit, and I want to start by getting a card for which I am almost sure to be approved, so that I don't get a hit on my report for being turned down. For which card should I apply?

  • Can I disable the alarm on my car by removing a fuse?

I have a 2006 Hyundai Elantra sedan. My daughter had an accident in it, now the alarm goes off occasionally. To disable the alarm, is there a fuse I can remove? If so, which fuse do I remove? Will it affect anything else? Thank you.

  • What is the difference between the Consulting firm's Billing Rate and the Hourly Rate they pay the Consultant?

In other words, how much is the consulting company charging the client compared to what they pay the consultant who is actually doing the work? As an example, if a contractor is being paid $50 per hour by the consulting company, how much would the consulting company typically be charging per hour for that consultant's time?

  • Is my problem with my Climate Control Unit, or could it be something else ('98 Olds Intrigue)?

I have a 1998 Oldsmobile Intrigue with the manual Climate Control Unit (the one without the LED screen).

When I first got the car in early 2010, the A/C and heater worked fine. A few months later, the fan would blow only on 2nd speed. A year or so later, the fan would blow only on 5th (highest) speed. Now the fan doesn't blow at all.

My theory is that the Climate Control Unit, the part which sets the fan speed, is broken. I can get used units for around $40, and it looks like it's not that hard to replace.

Could the symptoms I described above possibly be caused by something other than the Control Unit? If so, what is the liklihood of any of those things causing my problem? I don't want to buy the unit if the chances are good that the Control Unit is NOT the cause, but if the other possibilities are unlikely, I might get one anyway.

Also, am I fooling myself that swapping out the unit is only moderately difficult?

To me, it looks like I take off the plastic piece of the dash which surrounds the Control Unit and radio, unscrew the old unit, swap the wires/plugs onto the new unit, screw the new unit back in, then snap the dash back on again. Am I correct?

I'm at the level where I do things like oil changes, filters, and radiator flush/refills.

    Thank you.

  • Is there a big difference in cheap and expensive motor oil?

I have read that as long as the bottle has either the "starburst" or "donut" seal on it, and has an API rating of "SM", it is fine for your car. But is there a good reason to use a more expensive brand if the cheaper one also has the seal and the "SM" rating?

  • If my heater doesn't work, can I still flush my cooling system?

I need to flush my cooling system, and was looking at Cooling System Flush. The instructions say to fill the system with water and the Flush, run the engine to operating temperature, then run it for another 10 minutes with the heater on high. The problem is that the fan switch in my car doesn't work, so I can't turn the heat on at all.

Can I still flush the system? If so, do I have to modify the procedure from what is listed on the package?

Thank you in advance for your advice.

  • As of December 30, 2013, which is the worst-run NFL franchise?

    The nominees are:

    - Detroit Lions

    - Oakland Raiders

    - Tampa Bay Buccaneers

    - Cleveland Browns (2.0)

    - Washington Native-Americans (I refuse to use that racial slur)

    - Jacksonville Jaguars

    - Buffalo Bills

I'm sure there will be some write-ins, but you know that these have to be the leading (trailing?) contenders.

  • In a match of the worst wrestlers, who would win or lose?

Let's say we put six of the worst technical wrestlers in history in the ring at the same time. It would be a 6-way match with all men in the ring at once and the first to pin another wrestler wins. Who gets the pin, and who gets pinned?

    The wrestlers are:

    Hulk Hogan

    Ultimate Warrior

    John Cena

    Rob Terry

    Giant Gonzalez

    The Rock

  • Why does gas come out of my car's filler tube?

I pulled into a gas station with half a tank of gas today. When the attendant tried to pump the fuel, it kept tripping the "full switch" on the nozzle. He took the nozzle out of the filler tube, and gas kept pouring out of the tube, as if it were being slowly pumped out. Once I put the cap back on it stopped, of course, and the car has been running normally all along.

What type of phenomenon is this, and how is it fixed? Is it costly? My vehicle is a 2002 Hyundai Sonata with the V6 engine. Thanks.

  • What causes an Object Error when opening web pages?

My laptop gets an error box with the message "Object error" on certain web pages, including Yahoo Answers. When I click the "OK" button the box disappears, but re-appears almost instantly, so I cannot close the Explorer window or navigate away from it. Any ideas of how I can fix this?

  • What is wrong with my laptop?

When I start my laptop, I get an error box with the text "Windows created a temporary paging file on your computer because of a problem that occurred with your paging file confirguration when you started your computer. The total paging file size for all disk drives may be somewhat larger than the size you specified."

After I click the OK button, another box pops up titled "Performance Options". It asks me to choose how to allocate processor resources. The options are to adjust for the best performance of either Programs or Background Services. It doesn't seem to matter which I choose.

When I enter certain websites, including Yahoo Answers, I get an error box titled "Message from webpage", the yellow triangle with the exclamation point, and the message "[object Error]". When I click the OK button, the error box just comes right back, and that IE window is useless; it can't even be closed without using Task Manager.

So what is going wrong, and how can I fix it? Thank you for any advice you can lend me.

  • How do I get PMP Certified without spending a lot of money?

I'm a technical professional who has performed Project Management functions for a while now, and I'd like to get a PMP to enhance my marketability. When I look at courses for the exam, it's usually somewhere around $2,000. How can one prepare effectively for this exam without spending money? How and where would one take this exam?

I ask because I am now unemployed, being downsized for the third time in my life. This stuff is getting old on me!

  • Can anyone give me a GOOD reason to ban Gay Marriage?

The Constitution forbids establishing a religion, so you can't use any religious/moral reasoning. Traditions come and go (they don't even open the baseball season in Cincinatti any more!), so that's another meaningless excuse.

Come up with a REASON, a logical, non-emotional, non-bigoted reason. If you're going to make any assertions, such as children are better off with male-female parents, provide backup for your assertion (remember, you can't use the bible or any other religious text).

  • Why is it that the red states which hate taxation are also the biggest beneficiaries of federal taxes?

Red states such as Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana, Arkansas, Kentucky, etc. recieve more money in aid from the federal government than they pay in; some of them receive 2 dollars for every 1 they put in. Blue states like New York, California, Illinois, New Jersey, Massachusetts, etc. pay in more than they get back.

    1) How does one explain this?

    2) If the residents of these red states get their way, won't they be reducing their state budgets by losing federal help, and thus making their states even crappier places than they already are?
