  • How connected is the new show "Fear The Walking Dead" to the original TV show "The Walking Dead"?

Saw a commercial for "Fear The Walking Dead" and it looked like its going to be pretty good. I never watched any episodes of the original show "The Walking Dead" If I start watching the new one, Am I going to be lost because I haven't seen any of the episodes of "The Walking Dead"?

  • Were Demons and Gargoyles Part of the Original Frankenstein Story?

I just watched "I, Frankenstein". I was surprised see how much of the movie revolved around demons and gargoyles. I was just wondering if anyone familiar with the original or other [older] iterations of the story can tell me if demons and gargoyles were ever part of the those Frankenstein stories?

  • Can You Identify this Thriller/Action Movie?

This movie came out around 2010-2012 +/- a year or 2.

The main character had expertise in information security/cryptography and is a contract worker (government?). The movie opens with him in an office building working with his "colleagues" and I think he's an American working abroad. His task is to come up with a way to break a security algorithm presumably to test it's integrity and improve upon it. He thinks this is all legit and sanctioned by the government agency (or company, not sure) in charge.

He finishes the task and that is the end of his contract. A day or so later, he notices that he has not been paid (I think) but at any rate there was SOME discrepancy which leads him to contact the people who he thought he was working for, but they had no knowledge of any such job. He goes back to the office/lab where he was working to find out what's going on, and the building is empty.

It turns out that his "colleagues", the building, etc. were all a setup designed to get him to believe he was working a legitimate contract. This deception was orchestrated by some criminal entity that wanted to steal a case containing something dangerous (which they did) but the case could not be safely opened without the access codes, which just so happen to use the same security algorithms that the main character was tasked with defeating... hence the elaborate deception.

Also, I think the main characters daughter is with him for part of the film

  • Who makes that FAKE pool water urine detector?

Many people have probably heard of a chemical that you put in your pool that makes the water change color when someone urinates in there. Such a chemical does not exist.

HOWEVER, when I was younger, my old neighbors had a pool, and they had some tablets that you could throw in the water and they dissolved and turned the water bright/neon yellow. It was meant to be a prank. Like you, would quickly throw one of the tablets into the pool next to someone when they weren't looking and then it would dissolve really quickly and turn the water a bright/neon yellow.

You could build up the joke before hand by telling people before they get in the pool, that you have that urine detector chemical in your pool, or just wait until after you throw in the tablet. In any case, even though it was a yellow color, it was not meant to look like actual urine, because no one's urine looks that color.

I was just wondering if anyone has seen this stuff before? It was a long time ago (mid 90's), but If anyone knows about this stuff, and can tell me who makes it or where to buy it, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.

  • Is there a "medallion hunt" in Madison, WI?

I was told that in Madison, WI there is a thing/event where they hide a physical medallion somewhere in the city, and who ever finds it, gets a cash prize. Sort of like a scavenger hunt meets the lotto, and supposedly was an annual event. They haven't lived there for over a decade, so not sure if they were saying it was something the city did back then or still currently does. Can anyone tell me if this is accurate/true or not?

  • How does payment work for upgrading your device on Verizon?

I AM eligible for an upgrade, so I WOULD get the discounted price, when renewing contract for another 2 years (on family plan). My question is how does the payment work? Say a new device is $199 + activation fee, etc. Does that $199 + fee(s) get added to the phone bill and due whenever the next phone bill is due, or do you have pay cash/credit on the spot?

If you have to pay cash/credit on the spot is it for the device only with the additional fee(s) going on the monthly bill, or everything, device + fee(s), all due on the spot? Also if you have to pay on the spot for phone or phone + fee(s), does the cost of the phone itself ($199) show up anywhere on your monthly bill or online Verizon account, considering you just paid on the spot and got a sales receipt?

  • what version of Alice in Wonderland is it?

I'm trying to find a specific version of Alice in Wonderland that I remember having on video tape as a kid. the time period when I watched it was late 80's, though the movie could've been made much earlier.

    What I know for sure:

    Live action (NOT animated/cartoon)

    in Color

was a version made before 90's

What I think I remember correctly from so long ago:

    Alice was a younger girl

    Alice wore a blue dress.

I saw a clip on youtube of the 1985 TV movie version, and that is similar to what I remember except in that one she is wearing an orange dress, I could've swore the one I saw it was a blue dress. Also, in the version I'm looking for, I thought in the scene were Alice shrinks/grows big, the room she was in, the walls were all grey stone (cement/cinderblock/etc). However, in the 1985 TV movie version, in that scene the walls are off white with arches made out of tan stone, but then again it was a very long time ago.

I remember having this movie on VHS or possibly even Betamax, but I'm almost positive that it was a "blank" recordable tape, So it could have been a copied movie or taped off of TV

  • Can you translate this French sexual word/phrase to English?

I was wondering if someone who speaks fluent French could translate this? Most likely its some type of slang or non formal word, and I would have no idea how to spell it, which is why google translate is not helpful.

Because I can't spell it, I'm posting a link to the audio. It does NOT contain any indecent images, its actually a video that contains the audio (which may be indecent *headphones*) with a still image of the French flag. I had to convert to a video, because neither youtube nor imageshack would allow to me to upload audio only.

It is the same word/phrase 3 different times once right at the beginning @ 00:00, 2nd time @00:04, 3rd time @00:06

    Links to video (same video):

  • referring to compass bearings in 3d space, what does "mark" mean?

For example, if someone said "bearing 275 mark 30" what does the number after "mark" (30) mean?

Is it just the bearing on the Y (vertical) axis?

  • who sells "Super Slide Lighters" in Sacramento, CA?

Used to get these all the time, but can't find them now. Usually they are sold at gas stations, smoke shops, etc. Please if anyone has seen these in Sacramento, CA LATELY please let me know where.

These the are "SUPER" ones, which means they are thicker and more circular, as opposed to the regular "Slide Lighters" which are thinner and more eliptical.

  • Where, IN SACRAMENTO, CA, can I get urban/hip hop style clothes?

Favorite brands are (or at least were) Enyce, Akedemiks, Phat Farm... seems like no one makes unique stuff anymore like mid 1990's to mid 2000's

I've tried the commercial/chain stores (like what you'd find in a mall) and NO luck. I'm looking for small local/independant stores. Often times found in little "strip malls" in bad parts of town a.k.a. the ghetto.

Many times these stores are owned by middle eastern/indian imigrants, and they'll deal/bargain with ya. Like if you buy 5+ things, you can get a price cut. Its wierd, I've been in several of these types of stores in midwest and southern California and always seem to be mid eastern/indian guys that own them.

Anyways, Haven't found any in sacramento, and need to, because the big name/chain stores don't have anything good.

  • How do I calculate a single resistor value in a parallel circuit?

I don't know the proper formula to figure this out. I have a 3 branch Parallel Circuit. The values I have are:

    Vt (total voltage)

    R1 (1st resistor)

    R2 (2nd resistor)

    It (total current)

    I need to calculate:

    R3 (3rd resistor)

I also need to find a bunch of other values, which I know how to do, assuming I have the value of R3 but I don't know how to find R3 in the first place.

  • Can a DMM accurately measure the voltage of batteries?

I've noticed some DMM's have a specific "battery test" function. I heard or read somewhere that simply setting a DMM without this function to DC voltage and placing probes on either end of a battery will NOT give an accurate reading... something to do with the onboard powersource (batteries in the DMM) and that when using a specific "battery test" function it only uses power from the battery being tested or something like that (or maybe I have that reversed)

In anycase, I'm trying to figure out whether or not that is correct, and does it apply for ALL battery types? Can I Use a DMM set to DC voltage and place probes on either end of a battery and get an accurate voltage reading? For my immediate needs, I'm specifically talking about measuring the voltage of a rechargable Li-ion battery. However I'd also like to know if it applies to all battery types for future references, Like If I wanted to test ordinary alkline "AA/AAA/etc." batteries, or say the Battery in my car.

The thing with specific "battery test" functions on some DMMs is it only lists specific voltages wich seem to coincide with the most common alkline batteries AA/AAA/9V, it also seems to be a function on the CHEAPER meaters

  • What actress was in a cult as a child?

No important reason, I just remembered it because of hearing about all the Cruise/Holmes Scientology crap. and its annoying me to no end because its right on the tip of my toungue but I just cant remember who it is. I think I read it on her wikipedia page a ways back, some actress said as a kid she was in a cult. I don't remember who, but it was an A or B list actor, not some person who's only been on 1 tv show or something like that.

And also, NO the cult was not scientology

  • Should I add oil to hot or cold pan?

I have seen several guides say to first heat up the pan and then add cold oil to the already pre heated pan. but I recently got a cuisinart pan and it says to never heat it with nothing in it... says its bad for the pan and the stove... which doesn't seem to make sense to me.

Which one is true and why?

  • Can I cook Jambalaya in a pan like this?

I know the traditional way to cook jambalaya is in a cast iron dutch oven, but I dont' have one. I also don't have any pans except for a very small ~5" one. So I was going to buy somthing to use, but I didn't really want to spend the money on a cast iron dutch oven, because I don't think I'd use it for much else.

I was wondering if something like this "everyday pan" would work? I could at least use that for fying too.

    http://www.amazon.com/Cuisinart-725-30D-Classic-St...

Or what other suggestions would you have for something i could use for making jambalaya and for other things as well? Don't wanna spend any more than $30 but $20 would be even better. And I don't want anything with antistick because I like to put the burner on high so I don't have to wait around all day, and I don't want toxic fumes in my food

Just replaced regular cigs with an E-Cig. I'm wondering if anyone knows any headshops or smoke shops or other stores in the Sacramento, CA area that sells E-liquid/E-juice. Would rather buy in person rather than wasting money on shipping and having to wait. I'm almost out ;(
