  • Why can't there be some type of filtration system on building rooftop that filter pollutant from the air?

With all the talk about green house gasses and global warming. I started to think. And I came up with a theory. Couldn't it be possible, in theory, to filter out pollutants from the environment via a filtration system? Whether the filtration occurs through some chemical reaction which reacts with the pollutants or a simple filtration system which doesn't allow for green house gasses to pass through.

It could be so simple, putting these filters in the rooftops of buildings such as in New York, Boston, DC, London, China, India, etc.

I was just plagued with this question...and it might already exist but I wasn't sure. If it does let me know please.

    Thanks!

  • Is okay to get a letter of recommendation from a family member if they are your boss?

I am in bind. I am applying to an internship and it ask me for letters of recommendation from 2 professors/employers. However, one of my professors hasn't responded to my request for a letter. My next option is to get a letter from my employer...but my employer is my dad. I work for his company, he is the CEO. Would be alright to get a letter of recommendation from him? Given theres a conflict of interest

  • A good Crossover with good MPG, Any recommendations?

Well I am helping my dad look for a crossover for himself. He currently own a 2007 Camry, the combined mpg is like 22-24. Not bad. However, he uses his car ALOT!!! I mean his job depends on it. During the lapse of 7:30am-8pm he is probably driving it for 4-5 hours combined. So he uses his car a lot, however he is finding it hard to be in the camry and it isn't as comfertable for him, yet he loves it. Recently he has started to look at midsize crossovers. He began with the 2013 Santa Fe, however he felt it was too rough. He also considered the 2013 Kia Sorento. He liked the 2011-2013 Acura RDX models, however since he drives so much the mpg for the RDX was horrible. He recently has looked into the 2013 Ford Edge and it looks appealing. The thing is he doesn't know how it does on mpg. Also what is the resale for the Ford Edge, is it good?

Obviously, with a crossover since its a bigger car and sometimes a bigger motor some mpg will be comprimised. If you have any recommendations of cars with good MPG and resale value please let me know.

    Thanks

  • which of the following .1 M solutions has the highest pH?

    a. KNO3 I know this is a neutral solution, b/c both are strong acids

    b.KF

    c.KCl also neutral

    d.K2CO3

    e.K2S

I have to show the work to say how i came to my conclusion but i am a bit confused.

This is what I am doing, but I am not sure if it is right:

for HF, since it is a weak acid

    F- +H20 -> HF + OH-

    .1-x +x +x

    Ka of HF = 6.8x10^-4

    6.8x10^-4 = x^2 / .1-x

am I doing it right, what would be the answer for this question?

  • Can you help me with an AP Chemistry problem?

I can't figure out this problem in my homework problem set.

In an ion with an unknown charge, the total mass of all electrons was determined to be 2.55 x 10 ^-26g, while the total mass of its protons was 5.34x10^-23g. What is the identity and charge on this ion? What is the symbol and mass number of a neutral atom whose total mass of its electrons is 3.92x10^-26g, while its neutrons have a mass of 9.35x10^-23g?

    Mass of electron=9.11x10^-31kg

    mass of proton=1.67x10^-27kg

    mass of neutron=1.67x10^-27kg

  • How can I prove my data is statistically significant?

I'm doing a psych research project that looks at stereotypes between males and females and what the effect is on their grades. I give them a test grade, and I have 2 other tests (that were before the experiment) to act as a baseline (well the average of those 2 test is the average).

What can I use to prove that my data is statistically significant?

I'm not sure how the chi test would apply. If you can know of something I can use please post

    THANK YOU!!

  • Can someone help me with the chi-square ?

An investigator observes that when pure breeding, long wing fruit flies are mated with pure breeding, short wing fluids, the F1 offspring have an intermediate phenotype. When some of those intermediate wing length fruit flies are allowed to interbreed the following results are obtained: 230 long wings, 510 intermediate length wings, 260 short wings

the genotype for the F1 is Ll (L= Long; l=short)

How do I calculate the chi square value? I need to indicate the degrees of freedom x2 and p value. I'm not sure how to do the chi square. HELP PLEASE

  • What can be wrong with my thyroid?

    I'm a 17 year old female.

Back in 2009 I went to the doctor because I had a sore throat, test came negative for strep throat. Then my dad (who was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism, doctors burned his thyroid with iodine takes pill everyday) mentioned to the doctor that he had problems with his thyroids. So doctor decided to do blood test.

They reveled a TSH of 8.56 and my T3 and T4 were normal

I went to an endocrinologist where she examined me and took blood test again & an ultrasound (december)

My TSH was 5.38 and my T3 was normal my T4 was just at the range it was .1 (it just barely making normal range) and my ultrasound was normal, thyroid was just a bit bid.

Test also reveled slightly high antibodies & she left me for a check up in 6 months

for my 6 month check up, I told her that the past couple months i've been really nervous, anxious and I'd lost 15 pounds within 2-3weeks.And my hands are always sweating, and my feet and hands are always cold. I also told her that i'd been having a hard time concentrating in school. I also told her that swallowing had become a little bit difficult, it wasn't at the point where i couldn't swallow but i've found myself constantly needing water to get food down, even if its something like a banana or mashpotatoes

she took blood test and called that they were normal, she still hadn't gotten the ultra sound report.

    but i have them

right lobe:5.7x1.8x2.5 cm. the left lobe is 5.8x1.7x2.5. The isthmus measures .4 cm in diameter. There is a slightly heterogenous echo texture with no discrete nodule identified.

IMPRESSION: mildly enlarge thyroid which has increased slightly when compared to a prior study done in 12-2-09

    so? any thoughts?
