  • Skyrim: Will joining the imperials get rid of the 'joining the stormcloaks' quest?

I have both 'joining the legion' and 'joining the stormcloaks' in my quests on Skyrim at the moment and have gotten to the point in 'Season Unending' where I need to arrange a peace council, but because of these quests in my journal Ulfric just tells me I have something to do for Galmar.

Will I have to join the legion or imperials before I can arrange this peace council?

  • Using newer Nikon lenses on older film SLRs?

So I'm a bit of the wrong way round here, compared to what most people ask.. Haha.

I'm looking at buying a (cheap) 35mm Nikon SLR to have a play with and get to learn how to use film more. Having been interested in photography for a good few years now I've grown a little collection of lenses used with my newer Nikon D5000 DSLR.

My question being, can I use my AF-S lenses used with my DSLR with an older SLR, or will I need to invest a little more money for an older lens that wouldn't then be fully compatible with my DSLR?

  • Making HTC Wildfire S in to a hotspot?

Is it possible to turn the Wildfire S in to a wi-fi hotspot that I could use with my iPod Touch 4G and laptop? I'm looking at purchasing this little phone but want to be able to have this feature, it's pretty important for the type of usage I want.

    Thanks :)

  • Experience with buying vintage cameras from eBay?

I've been looking for a while at buying a couple of vintage cameras from eBay...

I'm not wanting to use them for stills or videos (depending on the type of camera), but I do want them for photo props or just to have as I'm a bit of a camera nerd :P

I was just wondering about some general experience when buying items like this from eBay?

    Thanks.

  • First paid shots, how much to charge?

I'd been asked to do a couple of shots for a teacher at my school as they produce a lot of albums.

I'm not printing any shots, only sending to full quality digital copies that have been processed and made in to the final album covers (including typography).

I'm a bit stuck as to what to charge as this is my first paid job....

From the research I've done, I've only found prices that included prints.

How much would be a reasonable rate for a couple of album covers that are also to be used as the main advertising for the album?

  • Nikon SB-700 vs. SB-600?

As a beginner in the world of external flashes and more advanced lighting, I'm looking for some advice on a purchasing a flashgun for my Nikon D5000.

Basically, I've narrowed it down to the SB700 and the SB600, but I just want opinions on both flashes.

I'm a newbie at all this, so I'd appreciate any advice. Thanks!

  • Cheap flashgun for Nikon DSLR?

I've been interested in photography for a good few years now, but I've recently decided I want to venture in to the world of flash and learn more about lighting...

I'm considering either the SB-600 and the SB-700, but I'm really stuck with what the differences are between them both... Could someone give me a round up of both with pros and cons, because as a newbie at more advanced lighting, I'm really confused, haha.

I'm also considering the Nissin Di866, but I'm stuck as to how I'd use that off camera with my D5000 (because atleast with the SB600/700 I can use something like the SC-28 cord to trigger the flashes...

I'd really appreciate someone to just clear this up for me and give me some advice.

    Thanks!

  • Everyday items that work as good photography props?

I've got a couple of portrait shoots coming up and was wondering about interesting props I could use.

I'm gonna be shooting on location around my local area, just having a day with friends and shooting then at the same time.

I just want simple ideas - like balloons - for fun props...

    Thanks!

  • Choosing A Level options?

I have to pick my options for my A Levels next year after finishing my GCSEs this summer, but I'm really stuck on which subjects to take.

    I've narrowed it down to:

    Maths

    Further Maths

    German

    History

    Politics

    Photography

I can take 4 subjects max - and then take further maths instead of general studies (much more worthwhile for me personally). I'm just stuck between whether to take photography or not. If I took it then it would be instead of politics or history.

I really have no idea on which to take and I'd love a little guidance from you guys.

I'm planning on going to university after sixth form - but still no idea what course! I love photography, but I feel that a more academic subject might be useful...

    Advice?

  • Do you follow a good photography blog?

I'm looking for photography blogs/magazines to follow for inspiration, tutorials, interviews with photographers, etc. but I can't really find one that is regularly updated, easy to view/keep updated with or has the sort of content I'm after.

    Do you know of any?

If not, I'm thinking of starting my own.

  • How to batch export or export an entire folder in Quicktime?

I use Quicktime to export my .avi footage from my Nikon D5000 to HD .mov files that Premiere Pro can recognise, but I have to do each file separately.

Is there a way to just export all the files from one folder at once?

  • SanDisk memory card not recognised on Mac, but when I connect via D5000 to iPhoto it works?

I have a card reader that used to work fine, but now it won't be recognised with my Sandisk Extreme SD card on my Mac Mini.

Whenever I plug my Nikon D5000 in with the SD card it won't get recognised as a device either, unless I open iPhoto.

I used to have a D40 and never had this problem, and I prefer using a card reader and hate iPhoto.

I've tried restarting and using all the different USB ports on the mac and keyboard.

    Why is this happening?

    How can I fix it?

  • Nikon D5000 vs. D90 video?

I've been doing a lot of research lately on a DSLR to replace my broken D40 and my JVC MG330 camcorder...

I love filmmaking and the manual focus and DoF control DSLRs offer really appeals to me.

I'm considering the D5000 over the D90 lately because I like the vari-angle screen, and the lack of AF motor doesn't bother me as I already have AF-S lenses and would have to use manual focus for video anyway (which I actually prefer, I don't like the look of the full time af in the D3100).

So many people I've spoken to seem to prefer the D90's video over the D5000's. But why?

Why do so many people seem to think this?

  • Is it possible to use an external microphone with the Nikon D90?

I'm stuck between the D90 and D7000 - and money is important.

I want to know: does the D90 have the ability to record sound with an external microphone during movie mode (either via the hot shoe or a line-in microphone jack).

    Thanks.

  • Nikon D40 won't read ANY memory cards. Help please! URGENT!!!?

All the cards are the same capacity.

They're SD-HC cards which are compatible with the D40.

WHY WON'T ANY OF THEM WORK?!?!

Yesterday my original worked, then it stopped so I bought a new one. That won't work and I tried a spare SD card as well. And that won't work either!

    Please help.

    This is urgent.

I need this for a school trip tomorrow and I need to document everything I do to help me study afterwards.

  • Upgrading hard drive on a used MacBook?

I'm thinking about buying a used MacBook for my studies. Having a laptop means I can take it in to school and use it during classes.

The machine I'm looking at has a 60gb hard drive. If I was to upgrade the hard drive to say a 250gb hard drive, would I have to re-install Mac OS X on to the new hard drive?

I own a Mac Mini and was wondering if I'd be able to use the recovery disc that came with that to re-install the OS on the hard drive in the MacBook?

    Thanks.

  • Could I use an HP Recovery Disc to install Windows on my mac?

I have an HP Pavillion dv5 that doesn't work anymore. I created an HP recovery disc using the laptop when it worked. Could I use this disc to install Windows on my Mac Mini so I can still use my Windows programs?

    Thanks in advance.
