  • how do I incubate a broken Tokay Gecko egg?

This question is an extension or revise of my previous question from a few days ago, as it was not answered...... And much has happend so my question is, well.......exciting!!

6 days ago My Tokay Gecko laid her first clutch of 2 eggs..... after 4 days one fell from the tank wall to the bottom of the tank a good 8 inch drop...

My original question was whether the fallen egg would still be viable after a fall and if I should remove it and incubate separate? or If I should just leave it for dead and avoid upsetting mom and dad by entering there nursery...........

the egg showed no signs of breakage.....

after 2 days of waiting for someone better informed to get back to me i noticed some stray meal worms eating at the shell.... I could not wait any longer so I removed it from the tank...

Sadly I immediately noticed a hole the size of a toddlers pinky nail in the shell....this left me believing it dead so I could not help but study it.....looking threw it with a light I could see the embryo....then when i looked threw the hole itself i found strange white goo and as I gently turned the egg I noticed something.....

THE EMBRYO WAS STILL ALIVE!! I COULD SEE ITS LITTLE HEART BEATING GROWING LARGER WITH EVERY BEAT THEN SMALLER THEN LAGER!!!

I have place the egg angled to avoid any goo spilling, and made sure the baby is submerged in the goo.....he is in a deli tub cuddled in damp fleece, with small ventilation holes on lid with 1 hole on each side for circulation....and I placed the container just off from the heat lamp on top of the tank...

is there any chance of survival or am i working a lost cause???

  • I think my Kitty Has Post-Partum Depression..?

just about 4 days ago my baby girl, Singee, Delivered 3 kittens, 3 weeks late. Delivering late was expected since her mother delivered 3 weeks late on all 3 of her litters.

This is her first Litter and she seemed very anxious about it from the beginning. Suddenly my lil attention whore became beyond clingy, which was easily remedied as long as I continued petting and snuggling her 24/7.

Her delivery was not an easy one. I have helped with the delivery of over 40 litters starting as far back as child hood, and as I got older I assisted all by myself. Never Have I seen a delivery like hers. Once her water broke, it was only a matter of moments befor not 1 but 2 kittens attempted to make there way out at the same time. To make it worse, both were breach! After almost and hour of this, finally one disappeared allowing the other to make his way out. the other followed quickly. This way definitely painful, my sensitive, super-suck drew my blood that day. I was easiest to blame for her pain.

Since having her babies she seems desperate to be with me but the second one of her babies makes a noise she Growls and runs frantically back to them. she will leave them for only a moment at a time to eat a few pieces of kibbles then panick stricken, she will run back. She has even been urinating in the nest, as if leaving long enough to go to the litter box is to long. She has always been an incredibly clean cat, never having an accident. If she was a human new mom I'd say she was trying to play super-mom, afraid of making a mistake or disappointing. I have never seen a kitty behave this way. I have always had great Mommy's, but not like this.

I do not think this is environmental. she does not seem at all uneasy about the other cats or even my Pomapoo (8lb dog) being near her or the kittens. She has snuggled with and even had them helping to clean the kittens as long as they are in her nest. she still loves her friends and there company definitely seems to help her relax.

Please someone tell me what I can do to help my baby girl.

  • what would you do with your Beardies tail if it looked like this?

Almost 2 weeks ago I found out the hard way why you shouldn't keep Bearded Dragons together.

I have 2 male Beardies, both 16 weeks old. They have both been separated now.

So like I said 2 weeks ago.....My beardie Shaggy had the tip of his tail bitten, It looked horrible.3 days later he lost his appetite and stopped moving. he just looked so sad........ I put put him in his own tank, put polysporine on it several times a day and only gave him Paper towel and 1 rock in his tank. Less to cause him more damage or carry bacteria to make him sick.

After just a few days his appetite came back, he began to move around , and he became himself again. (As of yesterday He got back all of his rocks and his log, this made him very happy!!) Never did this tail become infected, TG! His tail has now healed, except it looks like this...

    http://www.flickr.com/photos/77952600@N04/69814526...

The tip Looks dried out, shriveled and dead. it looks like it was stuck on with a toothpick and has a dis functionall angle. the tip of the healthy part of the tail has healed round and smooth with no imperfections but the tooth pick connecting to the dead end eww

When touched Shaggy shows no signs of pain, he in more than ok with me checking it out.

    What do I do?

  • can a bearded dragon make himself go unconscious when stuck hanging face down?

Ive recently Made my Beardie Scooby a desert vivarium. He has only had it in his tank since yesterday but he seems to be incredibly happy with it. On both sides of the tank there is a 1inch space between the decoration and the glass. Tonight Scooby has decided to climb from the top, down this little gap, he then gets himself stuck.

he did it 3 times in a row and everytime I had to save him, the 4th time I left him for a moment to see if I was worried for nothing and he could just get himself out (maybe he just wanted to relax this way?!)

Within a minute he seemed to fall asleep, then i noticed he wasnt breathing. his tail went limp and he didnt even notice me trying to remove him from his awkward position.

Once he was free his eyes opened wide and he climbed back up the wall....

Is it possile he went unconscious? or was this some kind of defense mechanism brought on from scaring himself when he realized he was stuck?

Why would he keep trying this over and over again? Are beardies that proud that he has to keep at it til he gets it right??

someone please make sense of this, its making me scratch my head too much.

Also, I have wedged a piece of cardboard in the gap to stop him from trying again.

  • my bearded dragon has become lethargic?

I have two 14 week old beardies. they are living together in the same tank, I know this isnt a good thing but I have to wait 2 weeks to have enough to buy them bigger and seperate homes. 3 days ago One of my babies showed an injury to the tip of his tail, (1/4inch) he was shedding at the time, but was also doing alot of standing on his tail to climb the tank glass (he wanted to get his reflection I suppose). because he was seen doing both these things I am unsure how he caused the injury with certainty. until today, he has been in good spirits and I HAVE BEEN TREATING IT WITH POLYSPORINE. many sources told me this helps with dry skin cutting off the tip, an actual break and general infection. the darkness has not spread any further up the tail. he was eating normally, climbing and exploring just like normal UNTIL TODAY. he will not eat he will not get up to walk around. his eyes are bright and clear though. Ive been misting him to keep him hydrated!! SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME WHAT I CAN DO.

  • I have 2 14wk old Beardies, why does the one always lay on top of the other?

I was recently gifted 2 Bearded Dragons. They were unfortunately the product of my Mothering getting my 12yr old Brother-Inlaw something "cool" this was very short lived. grrr!

They were about 6wks old (4in long) when I received them and are now about 14wks old (14.5inches long). I Have never had a Beardie before and they have been and amazing addition to my life. Everyday I am researching and learning something new about them. I am however very Nervous of there handling them so we have been taking our relationship very slowly, petting there backs periodical. Yesterday was in fact the first time Ive ever held them. It was only 3 inches of the ground and only to move them over 1 ft to clean under them, BUT I HELD THEM!! this excites me. Neither seemed at all uncomfortable with this so Im thinking they were ready to take the next step with me.

(sorry if Im over sharing but Im very excited to share my new babies; and hey, alittle background info never hurt anyone)

So my question.....Why does the one always lay on top of the other? Im thinking it may be dominance? Im unsure of their sex', though the breeder told my mother-inlaw at 2.5wks old that the were both males..... can they tell at that age?
