I have a muscovy duck. She has mated and was laying eggs. Now that she is done laying eggs, i expect her to start brooding. She spends more time eating and roaming around than actually sitting on the eggs to hatch them!!

I am worried that the embryo's were developing while she was sitting on them (for 4 - 6 hrs) and then probably died when she left the eggs to the cold.

Is this how ducks normally treat eggs in the first days of brooding? should i be worried?

Limb tail, different kinds of insects are thriving on this region: Tail and back of legs. Tail Always looks wet and weak for some reason. Also back of tail is losing hair. Any idea of what might be the disease.

I am worried that if I kept the egg until she starts brooding it will rot.

However on the other hand, i see muscovy ducks (in youtube videos) producing around 25 ducklings at once, which means that an egg can stay healthy for 25 days before mother duck starts brooding. Am I correct in my assumption?

Hen lays eggs for month(s), the problem is I don't know when it will start lying on the eggs (incubation). Every day the hen lays an egg, i keep it in the refrigerator. And then one day, the hen lays and egg, and sits on it. She does not lay more eggs, and the result is one chick.

So my question is, any signs i can look for in a hen that would hint to me that it will start incubation of its eggs soon to guarantee maximum production of chicks?
