  • Logarithmic equation help?

    log (sin^3 (2x)) = (-1/3)

    log is to base 10

    that can simplify to

    0.464 = sin ^3 (2x)

but how do you solve that further......??!

  • simplifying a log expression?

    [4 log (2/x)]-[2 log (2)]+[2 log (x)] = y

I've been given this and told to simplify it before solving for y = 2.

all logs are log base 10

how do i go about simplifying it?

  • Friction, force at an angle... help!?

A mop is being used to clean the floor. The weight of the head of the mop is 6N, while the weight of the handle can be neglected. The static coefficient of friction between the mop and the floor is 0.3.

Calculate the thrust in the handle if it is held at 72 degrees to the horizontal, whilst moving forwards at constant velocity.

  • Series RLC circuit help?

A 100pF capacitor is connected in series with a 1mH inductor and a 10 Ohm resistor. State the relative magnitudes and phase angles of the voltage (with respect to the current) developed across the capacitor and the inductor.

I have solved all but the relative magnitudes and phase angles of the voltages across the capacitor and inductor. How do I do this?

  • Intersection between two lines?

    (5*10^(+24x^6)) - (4*10^(+22x^5)) + (1*10^(+20x^4)) - (2*10^(+17x^3)) + (1*10^(+14x^2)) + (6*10^(+10x)) + 250309 = (9*10^(+10x)) - (4*10^(+07))

how on earth do I solve this?!

this has come from excel - if there is a way to solve it using excel that would be great!

    the answer should be around

    x = 2.75*10^-3

  • Phase angles........!?

A circuit is fed from a sinusoidal 50Hz supply such that the voltage has a peak value of 500v and the current has a peak value of 10A. At the instant t=0, the instantaneous values of voltage and current are +400v and +4A.

    Find

    - the phase angle of the circuit

    - the equations of the voltage and current

    - the instantaneous values when t=15ms

    - the RMS values of the voltage and current

Given that an alternating curent is described by

    i(t) = 10sin942t Amps

    find:

    - the RMS value of the current

    - the frequency in Hertz

    - the periodic time

    - the times when the instantaneous current equals +/- 6A during the first cycle

    - the power dissipated in Watts when the current flows through a 20 Ohm resistor

  • German speaking exam help!!!?

One possible debate I may have to prepare for my A2 German oral exam, is…

Should people be given a passport automatically after living in that country for a number of years, or should they have to earn it by taking an exam, doing something notable or completing community service etc.?

I really need help trying to prepare both sides of this debate!

    Thanks :)

  • How many pairs of socks do you own?

I'm just wondering if you could estimate (or count if you want to!) how many pairs of socks you own. I went through my sock draw the other day, and I have a lot of pairs, and I'm wondering if I am the only person out there with this many! Person with the best (funny or the most socks!) answer gets 10 points!

  • Angrily drawing in a dream?

Last night I had a dream. All I remember is that I was (I think) really angry, because I was drawing something pressing the pencil down really hard, and holding it in a fist like manner (much like a young child) colouring in something. What could this mean? Am I just angry?

I need soem ideas as to what to get him. I don't want to spend too much, as he will be fairly embarassed, because my family is much more well off than him. He likes planes etc. but is not a complete geek over it. Apart from that hes into the usual stuff most guys are. I'm still 17 so please don't suggest alcohol or something like that. I just want a small, cheap gift,

  • Interpret my dreams for me? Operations, broken bones and anaesthetics?

A lot of the dreams I have been having recently have been linked to having operations, in particular the lungs and hearts, and bypasses. I know some of the stuff that has happened in my dreams is beyond current medical possibilities, such as a lung bypass.

There is always a big emphasis on general/local anaesthetics, and I have always wanted to experience a general anaesthetic if that has anything to do with this.

The other big theme is broken bones, again this is something I have always wanted to do, so I can go on crutches and get some attention.

If its important I have not had or am not going to have an operation soon, and I have never broken a limb or had an operation.

I'm just wondering if anyone can shed any light on these strange dreams? I do quite enjoy them, but it is a bit odd!
