  • Toshiba Satellite L755-1HW: Intermittent wireless LAN problem with my Sky router?

I have recently bought a Toshiba Satellite L755-1HW from a reseller so it is seller refurbished but in a fully working condition, having been factory reset.

I am having difficulty in picking up my Sky router (home network). It will pick up my iPhone when used as a mobile hotspot and is also finding other Sky routers in the area, although it will only automatically connect to mine intermittently and sometimes, cannot find it at all as a wireless network connection. The Sky router can be picked up fine by my Dad's laptop and other phones in the household so I think the problem lies with the laptop and not the router itself.

I have recently downloaded a driver to connect wirelessly with my Epson SX420W printer, which on startup says 'Cannot reconnect all wireless drivers' if the printer is turned off but even when the printer is on, the Sky router is being missed.

I have searched the web and already done the following:

    1) Updated the Atheos wireless LAN driver to the latest version

    2) Updated the system BIOS to the latest version

    3) Scanned the PC using PC Diagnostic Tools and the Network is coming up as a pass.

Does anyone have any idea what I can do to sort this out?

    Many thanks,

  • Any advice on seeking employment once landing in a US state without a job?

I live in the UK and I'm doing a Work America scheme with BUNAC to work abroad for 4 months with a J-1 Visa this summer. My experience is as a waiter in a chain restaurant.

The only thing is that BUNAC won't guarantee me a job before I fly out there. I have tried contacting various US guest relations for chain restaurants such as Pizza Hut, TGI Fridays, Chillis etc... but none of them can guarantee me a job before I leave the UK so I'm thinking of flying out to Florida by myself and putting myself out there. But how exactly do I do this?

Has anyone ever travelled to Florida/any other US state and have any ideas about where to look, where to stay while doing this quite cheaply?

    I would be eternally grateful.

    Thanks.

  • Warm US state to work in over the summer?

I live in the UK and I'm doing a Work America scheme with BUNAC to work abroad for 4 months with a J-1 Visa this summer.

Us Brits have shitty weather all year round and I would like to work somewhere where sun and a stunning climate is guaranteed.

So far I have heard Florida and Georgia are safe bets. Any other suggestions?

    Many thanks.

  • Advice on summer jobs in the US with a J1 Visa travelling from the UK?

I'm a full time university student and a part time waiter looking for waiter/server jobs in the US for Summer 2013.

I have paid and joined a programme called Work America 2013 as part of BUNAC Working Adventures Worldwide. They provide me with their in house online job seeker tool called Job Zone which I have used to apply for all waiter/server jobs on offer but out of 10 jobs, I have only heard back from one so far which was to say we are still waiting on applications.

I have rang BUNAC and while they do acknowledge that a job can be found upon landing in the US, I want to do as much as I possibly can to ensure I get a job before I fly over next June.

I have joined job agencies such as GetJ1Jobs and Monster.com and attached my resume but with some chain restaurants (TGI Fridays, Red Robin, Pizza Hut), they have job agency sites where they need a Social Security and a Phone Number which, as a UK citizen, I do not have.

Has anyone got any advice about securing a job in the US from overseas?

I would greatly appreciate your comments.

  • Insurance, what options do I have left?

I lost my phone 2 weeks ago through a pickpocketing that occured by being barged into by the bar. I woke up the next morning and realised my phone had gone and have been sorting out a claim in order to recover it, the claim states to cover loss, theft, damage etc..

Having fully complied with everything and providing all correct details, I have now received a letter that states that I am exempt from receiving a replacement:

"as I have advised that I think my handset was taken when I was barged into but did not notice until the following morning, the following clause applies:

Clause 2E - whilst in any form of public place other than when the Product is taken by actual or threatened force"

Would I then be right to ring the insurance up and argue that at no point in this countering clause is a time limit mentioned, only the fact that "actual force" has taken place to which pickpocketing has and the insurance have admitted it is?

Thank you very much for taking the time to read this and I appreciate any advice with regards to legal stance or in general.

  • Call of Duty 4, 5 or 6? (Please read carefully)?

I received Call of Duty 5; World at War for Xmas last year which I haven't played yet.

Most of my friends have told my Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is better but then Call of Duty 6: Modern Warfare 2 has just been released.

Do I a) stick with COD 5, b) sell COD 5 and buy COD 4, or c) sell COD 5 and buy COD 6 (although would I be missing out on storylines from Modern Warfare 1?)

    Thanks.

  • Price difference in Renault Clio 1.2 petrol and 1.5 diesel?

I am close to passing my driving test and will be buying a car afterwards. I plan to buy a Renault Clio and I find the mechanics of a driving a diesel car easier than a petrol for many reasons. The lowest engine of a diesel Clio is 1.5 and a petrol 1.2.

Taking into consideration motor insurance, MOT, tax, servicing and other contributing factors, how much more would I have to spend on a diesel 1.5 Clio than a petrol one? It would be my first year after passing.

    Thanks in advance.

  • Wales - Cymru ?

I am amazed at how many foreign people do not know what or where Wales is. Looking back at previous Yahoo Questions & Answers, a lot of people regard the country as being insignificant, poor and having attributed a lot of negative factors. This is most certainly not the case and I have no idea why people think this.

We have our own language which is widely spoken around the world. I know Wales is one of the smallest divisions of the United Kingdom and of course I'm biased due to being Welsh but I think Wales has a lot more to offer than sheep, if I'm being honest. I think that more people should learn about Wales. Apart from in Wales itself, it tends to be French, German and Spanish that dominate the modern foreign language schemes in secondary schools - I think it would be a great idea if Welsh was introduced more freely across the UK or even the world.

Do you think Wales should be more publicised and would you be keen on learning a different language that would allow you to converse with people from a different part of the UK (people outside of wales)?

I, myself, am not first language speaking Welsh but I have been studying it for five years and am currently studying an A-Level in both Welsh and English.

ENG: Thank you for reading and please feel free to give your views and opinions on this subject matter.
