Are the giant squids appearing off California a harbinger of an impending earthquake?
A few days before the earthquake and tsunami hit Indonesia on Dec 26, 2004, fishermen in neighbouring countries reported great catches of big fish that came up from the deep. In one resort island, tourists saw big fish gathering below the piers.
So, is the unusual appearance of these giant squids heralding some undersea upheavals?
