  • What would be a good title involving personal fears?

Without going into the plot, I just need a title for something about personal fears. Any suggestions?

  • How can you see into my eyes, like open doors?

Leading you down into my core, where I've become so numb.

    Without a soul

My spirit's sleeping somewhere cold, until you find it there and bring it back

    Home.

  • What is a good title for this story?

I've had this idea in the back of my head for a while, and now that I've actually sat down and fleshed it out, I can't seem to think of a title, so I thought you guys might help me with this.

Without giving too much away, the general premise is there's several high school kids that are gifted with special powers granted to them by certain gods. The thing is, these gods are malevolent and were imprisoned in special godly prisons long ago; they're merely using these kids to free themselves and gain control of the Earth once more.

So the kids have to decide whether they want to bring back these gods or not, given powers beyond their control and faces with decisions they never expected to make, as well as many enemies hindering their efforts along the way. Will they make the right choices? Or will one of them slip up and cause the world's destruction?

  • Character names that correspond with classical elements?

I am really bad at coming up with names, so I need you guys on this one. I like for my characters to have somewhat meaningful names, and in this story, every person controls a certain element. So, I just need some male and female names (and surnames if you can), for each of the following classical elements (There's twenty-four of them, because... well, twenty-four is an important number is the story I'm planning). You don't have to answer all of them, just any ones that you can come up with. Thanks in advance!

List of elements are as follows:

    Fire (includes Smoke as well)

    Water

    Earth

    Air/Wind

    Thunder/Lightning

    Ice/Snow

Wood (could involve trees, but mainly focuses on wooden structures)

    Metal (involving technology)

Glass (still thinking this one out...)

Noise/Sound (you know... sort of incorporating sound as a physical attack)

Poison/Plague (pretty much causing illness to a small degree)

Heart (involves things such as love and lust, as well as other strong feelings)

Dream (this one is a little hard to explain... it's like, powers similar to the Greek god Hypnos)

    Light/Holy

    Darkness/Shadow

Sun (still thinking this one out as well...)

Moon (Also still figuring this one out, but I'm thinking something similar to werewolves)

    Spirit/Aura (also represents Death)

    Plant/Flower (also represents Life)

    Time

Space (not like outer space... more like manipulating the space around them to teleport and such)

Aether/Void (those familiar with the fantasy genre should know what I mean with this)

Energy/Magic (involving a combination of other elements)

    Neutral/Pure (involving non-elemental attacks)

  • what are some generic town/city names?

For a story I'm writing. It's gonna be an urban fantasy, with just a tiny bit of cosmic horror mixed in. Any and all ideas are appreciated!

  • Can reading too much damage your eyes?

My dad is concerned that I read too much/spend too much time on the computer, and that I'm gonna damage my eyesight. The thing is, he's kept up this argument for over ten years now, if it was truth I think I'd see at least a little effect, but my eyesight has been just about the same for all those ten years. Yes, I wear glasses now, but I've needed these glasses for most of that time; I just generally didn't wear them very often until recently. My optometrist even said that reading is not the cause of it, but apparently my dad think he's smarter than a doctor with a degree in eye care. Any way I can convince him that reading is not damaging my eyes?

  • A little help, please?

My family was visited recently by the Jehovah's Witnesses. They got really enthusiastic about it: We started studying the bible with them, we go to all their meetings, my dad even became a Witness already.

And I'm glad they found their truth and all, but that stuff is just not for me. I won't go into the details of what I don't believe and why, but the point is I don't want to be a Witness. That's their religion, not mine.

Here's the problem: I don't know how to tell them. Every time I try, I think of how distraught they'll be, and then the words just don't come out. But I don't want to spend my whole life pretending I agree with them, when I really don't. Any of you guys know how I can deal with this? Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

  • help with artist's block?

I didn't even know that was a thing until now. The problem is, I know what I want to draw, but I don't know what I want it to look like... if that makes sense. Normally I just sketch things randomly and then the idea comes into my head, but now it just... doesn't. Do you guys know if there's any solution for this?

  • Does anyone find the Y!Answers level system kinda redundant?

I mean, I could never have the time to answer fifty questions, or vote for 100, in one day, so I'm not entirely sure why there even is a limit. Has anyone else ever wondered about this?

  • Is this a good story idea?

The story centers around three principal characters.

The first character is someone in possession of a super powerful glove that gives him the ability to travel through time and pretty much bend reality to his will. He's lived so long that he's forgotten how he even found the glove or why it's so powerful. However, he knows the consequences of messing with time, so he tries to use his powers as little as possible. However, he finds out there are others like him who would use their powers for more malicious purposes. He ends up facing a sadistic madman with another super powerful glove, and proceeds to go on an adventure across separate dimensions to save them all from destruction.

The second main character is a seemingly normal person living a normal life, but when everyone around him starts acting strangely, he begins to doubt. As the story goes on, he finds out that not everything is entirely as it seems, that everyone he knows is much more than meets the eye, and that he himself is not completely human.

The third character lives in a post-apocalyptic universe where Earth has long been destroyed. The last of humanity has fled to a far planet that I'll call Planet X. The trials and tribulations on that planet over several generations caused them to evolve until they are virtually indestructible, but their ruler there the entire time is an evil dictator who wishes them all dead. Our main character catches word of an artifact that can change the course of time itself and prevent Earth from having been destroyed. He goes off on an epic quest to find that artifact and fix what had gone wrong.

These characters all have seemingly no connection to each other, but as the story progresses we find out their lives are interwined in each and every way, and all three of them are needed to save the universe.

Just wanted to run this by you guys and see what you think. Is it a good idea?

  • What last name sounds good with Brianna?

For a character in a book I'm writing. I want it to be something that sounds slightly mystical, but not too much so. It would also be great if it had some deeper meaning to it. So, yeah, share with me your thoughts. Thanks in advance!:)

  • Where can I find a simplified version of the Poetic Edda and/or Prose Edda?

I want to tudy Norse mythology for a story I'm writing, so I tried reading the Poetic Edda since I hear it's the most accurate portrayal of Norse mythology, but I find it way too hard to understand! Can anyone tell me where I can find a more simplified version so I can understand better? Thanks in advance!
