Can you help me with buying a tablet?
I don't know much about tablets, but I've noticed a few people I know using them and they look really convenient. I'm wondering if there is a tablet out there with an HDMI port (which I would really want, if possible). I would definitely want one with at least one regular usb port and the one with the detachable keyboard looks cool too. I only want to pay a flat upfront fee for the tablet, not monthly for internet or anything, and of course it needs to be able to do WiFi. Just regular internet, games, movies (but I'm not a fanatic about quality or anything, I just want to be able to watch stuff). My friend has a kindle and that seems good, but it looks like the new one doesnt have usb ports? Can you point me in the right direction? Thanks!
3 AnswersLaptops & Notebooks8 years agoName of the floats on an Amphibious helicopter? Have you ever heard of calling them "Boofs"?
My son says that they are called Boofs and he is usually right about stuff like this. Obviously, they are supposed to be called Pontoons, but I was wondering if anyone has ever heard of people calling them Boofs as a local-ism or nickname or something like that. Thanks so much!

6 AnswersNew York City8 years agoCharacter needs a home in a bad area in NYC?
She is mid twenties, white, from a small town in Conn, which she has just left cause her abusive husband died and she left her 8ish year old son with her mother and bolted. She spent the first night in a stranger's bed and has about $80 to her name. She's loose and trashy and I need a home for her. Likely, it will be near a bar, in a shady section of town, possibly with a roommate or a beau (she will likely make her $ by hooking) and she is, I'm sure, pretty obstinate about living in Manhattan, at least at first. If you don't feel like Manhattan is possible, please tell me why and where you'd place her. She doesn't know anyone, but she is straightforward and could make connections easily. It's okay if it's just a couch somewhere...let me know where you see this character living--best answer gets 10 points!

2 AnswersLanguages9 years agoNavy Spouse--not going to finish degree in time for move?
Okay so my husband is scheduled for rotation next summer (we have no idea where he will be stationed yet) but I am a student and I'm going to have to stay for at least the Fall semester to finish my degree. I am definitely going to stay because I can't take the classes I need online and between instate tuition, financial aid, and scholarships I'm going to school for free so it wouldn't make sense to transfer when I am so close. He has only been in for about 2 yrs now and we have never had to move because of him transferring (we live right near a base and he got his first orders there). We own a house here and have two children. So my question is, would I be able to stay here with the children while he goes wherever they want him so I can finish? My question mainly centers around what would happen with BAH, as in If I'm still living here with the kids will we still receive the BAH for this area or would he get it for where he is? If he goes somewhere where he has to be unaccompanied, will that be our best bet? The problem is that we don't want to not be able to make our mortgage payments. Please answer based on experiences and not based on what Google tells you, and the most thorough answer gets 10 points!! Thank you so much!!!
Military9 years ago1962- colleges a girl might go to in new england?
My character's older sister is in college, in 1962 she is a freshman. Is this reasonable? What college might she be going to? It is in New England, her family is middle income. There are only two daughters in the family. Would she wear things to show school spirit, ect? What would the college girl come home wearing? She has just finished her first year of college and is coming home for the summer. Please tell me anything you might know! Thanks!!
1 AnswerHigher Education (University +)9 years ago1955 DeSoto driven in 1962?
Would it be realistic to have a teenage boy take his date out in his father's 55 DeSoto in 1962? His father owns a hardware shop. What would be the implications of this (like would it connote money or lack thereof, or just a regular type car?) What about the age, should it be newer or older or it that about right?
2 AnswersOther - Cars & Transportation9 years agoLife as a teenager in 1962?
I'm writing a story about a woman who met her husband in 1962, and when he asks her out, would it be reasonable for them to go for milkshakes or to the drive in? What would that entail, meaning asking her parents, ect. If she gets pregnant at 18 will she have a shotgun wedding? Please just tell me anything and everything you would be thinking or feeling in that year as a 18yo teenage girl. Don't just make crap up, please. The most thorough answer gets 10 points!

1 AnswerOther - Society & Culture9 years agoMother of two: is it possible for me to join the navy as an officer?
I have two children and am about to finish a dual degree in English and Anthropology. My husband is currently in the navy (enlisted), and we were thinking that after his 4 years are up, if it is possible, I should join. Is it possible after giving birth to two children? I also broke my arm once when I was ten with no problems since. What are the limitations on joining after youve had children as a female? I know that having 3 dependents will require a waiver, but will the fact that I am a mother (twice over) also req one?
I don't need advice as to whether or not it's a good idea, but facts about what I am asking. Thank you for REAL answers!

1 AnswerRussia9 years agoAnyone know the name of a Russian fortress in or near Yekaterinburg which might relate to the Revolution?
I have an image that I am researching that comes from the Church on the Blood in Yekaterinburg. The image is of a fortress or Kremlin structure with four log cabins in front of it near a river with three sailing ships that have suns on them. I have found pictures of structures that look very similar to the one in this image, and they are of Ivangorod Fortress, Fortress Oreshek, and the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin. It may not necessarily be in Yekaterinburg, but it must have something to do with the revolution, right? Please tell me anything about what you think it might be, and the river that it is near. Also if you by any chance know why there are suns on the sail that would be very helpful. Thank you!

1 AnswerHistory9 years agoSunburst on Russian sailing ships?
Does anyone recall a story or some symbolism that might give a reason to why there might be a sun on the sails of three small ships on a beresta box I have? They are on a river near a palace and four small cottages. Thanks for your help!!
1 AnswerRussia9 years agoRussian sailing ships with suns on them?
I have a small beresta box I bought in Yekaturinburg at the Church of All Saints which has three ships sailing on a river. The ships have suns on the sails. Why is this? Does it make reference to a specific fleet? Is it a symbol of the revolution (or in some other way tied to Tzar Nikolas II? There is also an image of a palace with four small cottages in the foreground. Do you know what any of this might symbolize?Thank you for anything that might help!!
