  • I think I have a trapped sciatic nerve. What s the best way to deal with this?

About 3 days ago I woke up with a bit of a twitch in my back. It was uncomfortable, but I figured I just slept on it funny and that it would go away. The day after it felt worse, and I struggled to find a comfortable position but it was still managable. Yesterday I found that if I was lay completely flat or stood straight and moving around that there was no pain, but sitting was agonising, so I spent the day lay flat trying to rest my back, but whenever I stood I got blurred vision, felt nauseous and an outrageous amount of pain. Waking up this morning it feels worse than ever before, and I m at a bit of a loss for what to do. I m taking some Naproxen that was laying around and cocodamol tablets to help with the pain, but none of that seems to be working. And after a quick google, I m unsure whether I m doing more harm than good by laying around all day. I m booked in with the Osteopath on Monday as I ve been told that a doctor is only likely to diagnose and prescribe pills, so I feel like this would be a wasted trip as I m fairly sure that it is sciatica (shooting pain from the lower back/butt area, woke up this morning with a fuzzy foot).

My question is, can anyone recommend what else I can do, or how long the recovery time will be? I ve got 2 weeks holiday coming up and I d really rather not spend it bed bound and in pain. Not sure if it factors in, but I m female, nearly 21 years old, never suffered from bad health or had issues with my back but I am fairly overweight.

  • Does xbox use effect electricity bills?

My electricity bills have gone from around the £70 mark to close to £150. The only difference I've consciously made is upping xbox use as my laptop has been in the repair shop for the last month, so my old xbox has come out to feed my netflix cravings. Other than that, the only thing I can think of is the tumble dryer is being used more often than usual. Could this effect it?

  • Do people really have to take anti-rejection medication After an organ transplant for life?

I don't know much about organ transplant but I find the whole thing fascinating. I understand that the new organ is foreign to the body so the brain would tell the immune system to attack it, but surely after a while (years, even) it would accept it as its own? A match would have to have the same blood type, so the only reason I can think of is that it detects that the new organ has the wrong DNA?

I appreciate all answers, thank you :)

  • Can I have chewing gum while in ketosis?

I'm starting one of those diets that keeps you in ketosis but I'm worried about the bad breath. Will I be okay to have sugar free chewing gum while at work so others don't notice the breath? I can't think of another way to mask the smell!

  • Are Chinese people generally homophobic?

I would love to study abroad in China, perhaps in Beijing or Shanghai, only thing is I'm a lesbian. Now I know a lot of countries laws were made centuries ago and focused on religion, and pretty much every religion is against homosexuals. China's more Buddhist and I know it's a communist state, so I was just wondering what the general opinion is out there?

  • Did Jesus really exist?

I'm an atheist, I understand that religion is based on belief and I'm not here to shun anyone's religious beliefs. My question is, outside of the Bible, is there any historical evidence of Jesus? Any reliable accounts of his existence or some slight physical evidence that he truly existed?

  • Can you tattoo over spots?

My artist is usually fully booked so I made a booking months in advance. The tattoo is meant to be done tomorrow (on my back/coming on to my shoulder) and my flipping body chose today to put a big nasty spot there. It is raised and sore but it doesn't feel like it's going to be a white head, just one of those nasty sore red ones that go away after a week or so. Will my tattooist be able to go over it without it causing an issue or is this going to mess the entire thing up? Or am I just over reacting here...

  • What would happen to your body if you were locked in an air tight room?

For curiosity's sake. Say you were in a room where air couldn't get out. I understand that sooner or later oxygen would be replaced with carbon dioxide and you'd slowly suffocate, but what would it feel like? Would it be painful or would you just like fall asleep/pass out? Would it be a bit like suffocating and struggling for air? Also, what would happen to your body afterwards, would is still decompose if there was no bacteria to get to it (the room would never be opened, a bit like Schrodinger's (sp?) cat lol)).

  • Could anyone recommend a site to buy earrings from?

I don't want any flashy ones, just plain titanium steel earrings that aren't gonna go all nasty like the cheap silver ones you can buy at places like Claire's Accessories do. So the sort of metal you get at a piercing shop. I just want a few of the ones with the screw in balls and a flat back, and a couple hoops. I don't want to go on Amazon if there's a decent site anybody knows of that specialises in jewellery :)

    Please and thank you!

  • Can I eat out of date Quorn?

I have a packet of quorn mince in the fridge dated for the 9th of January (7 days ago) I was just gonna cook it up in a homemade pasta sauce, will it be okay to eat or should I throw it out? I don't really go on dates with food, my milk is almost always out of date as is my fruit and veg, I'm just not the greatest on knowing when quorn goes bad.. Any pointers? Thanks :)

  • Should I use Bepanthem on a scabbing tattoo?

I'm relatively new to getting tattoos. My first was a piece the size of a coffee mug on my back (around the shoulder blade area) and it didn't really scab that much, so it was no problem putting the cream on it. On the 5th I got another on the back of my neck, which bled like a *****, and now it's scabbing really badly. Do I still put the Bepanthem cream on the scabbing skin or do I leave it and let it fall off? I'm really not sure what to do here and I don't want to ruin my tattoo :(

  • Is arthritis considered a genetic disease/disorder?

I'm looking in to egg donation to fertility clinics, I tick all the boxes other than this one that I'm unsure of. My dad's side is healthy but my mum's side is riddled with arthritis. I take after dad more than mum but still, I was just wondering if it's considered a genetic disease? They mostly have rheumatoid arthritis.

Bonus points to anyone who can tell me how much clinics pay for eggs in the UK :)

  • Can you drink 1litre of juice for your 5 a day?

On the carton (it's mostly pure squeezed I think, says it's from concentrate) it says 200ml is one of your five a day, so could I drink a litre of juice a day and have that count as my five a day or is it better to balance it out with other fruits and vegs over the day?

    Please and thank you :)
