I always have a strong feeling, at least once a day, everyday that I'm going to get a phone call or a visit from an authoritative person(i.e. doctor, grandparents, law enforcement) telling me that something bad has happened to my parents or siblings and that they've been hospitalized or worse. Is this normal? Usually it'll be I'm just going about my business and I start thinking about my mom who works in a large city at night and I worry like hell that she'll be killed or injured in a car accident on her way home; my father has major medical problems and I'm constantly dreading the day I get that phone call telling me that he's had his last heart attack or gone into a diabetic coma. I practically raised my baby brother and I'm constantly worried that he's going to get run over or something, (He's 5. ) I worry that my little brother(16) would get harmed in some way or another, usually car accident. My older brother is clinically depressed and I am constantly worried that I'm going to get a phone call telling me that he committed suicide. Is it natural to constantly think that something terrible is going to happen to my family like this?

We've all had this feeling, my question what psychological aspect makes us feel this way? Is it the rules? The uniforms The police presence? The mentality of which cliques dominate and where you stand at the social ladder?
