Jehovah's Witnesses, I have a couple questions I would like cleared up Please.?
Firstly, I am a member of the LDS church and I am not going to change religions. However, I am a curious person who likes to understand other beliefs, even if I don't believe them myself.
I was on the jw.org website looking at the FAQ section. I have some things I would like explained further.
There were a few things that our religions agree on, but there are others that simply don't make much sense to me, so here they are. thanks in advance for any serious answer.
1. "We do not believe that the soul is immortal." Okay....so then what is it? does it even exist? What would be the point of having a mortal soul in a mortal body? Do we get something else after death?
2. "Jesus commanded that we commemorate his death, not his birth." But did he ever say NOT to commemorate his birth? If he is our Savior and leader, why can't we celebrate that he was born?
"No proof that Jesus was born on December 25th." I agree, but if there is no proof of any date, why can't we pick one? Also, the 3 wise men, all the shepherds, and many other people at that time celebrated the birth of the Savior. So why can't we celebrate it today? Is it really so evil?
3. On Easter (easter bunny and candy and egg hunts aside) why can't we commemorate his resurrection? Yes he died for us, but now he LIVES for us. Is that not worth commemorating? Should we not show gratitude for that? He not only overcame every sin, trial, and pain for us, but he conquered death for us. To me, that is just as important.

This is my topic for a talk I am giving at an Easter devotional this Sunday. It s a broad topic, so I am looking for some ideas and thoughts. I appreciate any POSITIVE thoughts you have on this topic!

3 AnswersReligion & Spirituality6 years agoQuestion for Christians about how to be saved.?
So for those of you who believe that we need to accept Christ into our hearts in order to be saved, I have one question. I believe that accepting Christ is indeed essential for any salvation, but I feel there is a lot more needed to be done. We need to follow him as well. But my question is this, if you believe the only way, or one fo the only ways, to be saved by His grace is by accepting Him into your heart/life, what about those who never even have the opportunity to hear of Him? Will they have a chance?
I am LDS so I know my beliefs, I'm just curious about what other religions believe. I'm not looking to start any trouble or church-bashing.
Thanks in advance for your answers!
7 AnswersReligion & Spirituality6 years agoShort Poem?
What do you think of this short poem? Can you tell me what it is about?
The memories fall like snow
Each one unique and beautiful
Times of joy and sorrow
All so vivid and colorful.
They were all saved in my mind
It’s capacity seemingly endless
But now undone comes the bind
And the losses leave me breathless.
6 AnswersPoetry7 years agoWhat do Jehovah's Witnesses believe?
The only thing I know about your beliefs is the 240,000 elect. I know there are missionaries for your church as well. Could someone just tell me your basic beliefs? I am not trying to investigate your religion in order to join it, I am a happy LDS member, however I would like to better understand you. Is there any official websites that will explain your beliefs? One question I have wondered for awhile is this: if you believe that there are only 240,000 elect, why do you remain a part if this religion and preach it to others? And how do you know if you are a part if the elect? How is it decided who is a part of it? I'm a curious person that likes to understand those around me, so thanks for any and all answers!
17 AnswersReligion & Spirituality7 years agoHave you ever had an experience with Spirit(s)?
I have heard so many different stories about personal experiences with seeing or hearing or feeling spirits. People in my family, and myself as well, have had experiences. I am just curious as to other experiences out there. Please be serious and respectful, not silly or stupid. Thanks :)
9 AnswersReligion & Spirituality8 years agoWhat are your views on Mormon missionaries?
How do you feel about Mormon missionaries? Do you find them annoying, polite, helpful, etc? If they annoy you, why? If you like them, why? Just tell me your feelings please. (And please no harsh hate. I'm just simply curious.)
And just so you all know, I am not going to like or dislike any comments. So don't think that I am going to dislike every comment against Mormon missionaries. That would be a waste of time.
Thanks in advance!! :)
12 AnswersReligion & Spirituality8 years agoMy sister is abusive. What should I do?
My younger sister has ADD, which affects her personality horribly. When she takes her meds, she is her normal happy self. But when she doesn't take her meds, the ADD takes over and it is scary. (She refuses most of the time to take her meds because she thinks that they change her personality, where in reality the ADD is what changes her.)
She hits, pushes/shoves, slaps, and threatens me. She will also take my stuff and hide it, throw it away, ruin it, or threaten to ruin it. I want to have a good relationship with her, but I can't.
My question is how can I keep her from being so physically and emotionally abusive towards me? I have tried so many techniques, and none have worked. I have tried turning the other cheek and ignoring her. I have tried giving her a taste of her own medicine, such as pushing her back if she pushes me first. I have talked to my parents, but they don't know what to do. And they don't really scare my sister. (Although if she stole something of mine, I can go to my parents and they can make her give it back.) I am just SO TIRED of her behavior. I understand that it is mostly the ADD, but that doesn't make it okay. Because this is an every day problem that I deal with. Please give me your suggestions!! Thank you in advance!! (:
5 AnswersFamily8 years agoWhy do you dislike Mormons?
I am LDS, and I am genuinely curious as to why some people dislike us so badly. Please don't be too harsh. I don't want drama, just answers. And if you are stating what you think are facts about the Mormon church, please check and make sure you are correct!
Thanks in advance! :)
18 AnswersReligion & Spirituality8 years agoAtheists, why don't you believe in a God?
I'm not looking for any kind of hate, I am just genuinely curious. Did you once believe in a God, and if so why don't you anymore?
18 AnswersReligion & Spirituality8 years agoJehovah Witnesses, I have a serious question! Please help!?
I am LDS, and I have always wondered one thing about your religion.
Here in the LDS church, we believe that everyone has a chance at getting into heaven and living with Heavenly Father again. Any one, as long as they are worthy, may be with Him. But, in your faith you say that only 144,000? who are pre-chosen will live with God again, correct? (If that's not right feel free to correct). So my question is this:
If you don't believe that you will live with God again, why do you try so hard to get to know him? And how can you be okay with believing that??
Seems to me that if I was not able to live with God again, what would be the point of trying to get to know Him and tell others about him. Why should I care if I don't get to live with him in Heaven??
Your answers would be greatly appreciated. I am not trying to disrespect your beliefs, I am just honestly curious and want to understand. Thanks! :)
6 AnswersReligion & Spirituality8 years agoMormons and their beliefs?
I am LDS, Mormon, and I am honestly curious as to what non-members think of us Mormons. Do you see as crazy, and why? I just want to know what our church looks like from the outside in a way. Please answer. Thanks! :)
