  • Are the Russkis that curious?

I have a website that gets about 30-50 visitors every day. When I run down their IP addresses, about half are Google-bot inquiries, personal searches, "reserved" (whatever that means) and about 1/2 of the IP's are in the Russian Federation. Russia? WTF? Can anyone enlighten me as to WHY my obscure discussion site, hardly active, would be of any interest to anyone in Russia??? This has been the case for 4 years now and I assume they are looking at everyone else.

This guy says the Narrows bridge collapse was NOT caused by resonant frequency, but then continues to a description of the effects of resonant frequency. A lesser wind velocity would not have started the torquing and counter-torquing of the bridge and no effect would have been observed. A higher velocity wind would have torqued (twisted) the bridge,as he described, but stressed it to a static posture and held it there. Thus, no "whipping" effect. However, at the wind velocity that would, and did, esrtablish the twisting and counter twisting of the bridge, each twist (torque) was augmented by the kinetic energy received from the wind; building to a catastrophic level. Isn't that a resonant frequency effect?

  • I've been on the internet for 6 years, but....?

I never had a reason to write in a proper form. I don't know how to write one line above another instead of in a continious stream of sentences. Any quick ideas on how that is done or where I can get a tutorial?

  • To the "Bush lied" crowd:?

Does it surprise you to learn that the leaders in the Mid-East believe that Iran represents a major nuclear threat and that capability should be neutralized even though the Iranians deny it just as Saddam claimed he held no WMDs? Do you feel, given the Bush experience, that we should just take Iran at their word? Hmmmm?

  • (Poll ?) In a video made before his bombing attempt....?

..the Oregon bomber said ""To my parents who held me back from Jihad in the cause of Allah. I say to them ... if you — if you make allies with the enemy, then Allah's power ... will ask you about that on the day of judgment, and nothing that you do can hold me back ..." Since this young student acted on his own and belonged to no jihadist orgs, can one fairly assume he was inspired by the koran?

  • Since the 4th. of July is my birthday,?

Shouldn't everyone start giving me presents now and all year long? Substantial presents valued at more than $100 each? Preferably a USPS m.o. or certified check? Now? Wouldn't that be patriotic? (since I would immediately spend it at a local bar and thus stimulate my local economy) Thanking you in advance and wishing you a happy birthday however insignificant it is, Marc W.

  • If I can grow tomatos, tulips, ferns, and grasses.....?

Why can't I grow a pot plant? I know marijuana is classified as a drug, but doesn't prohibiting it's cultivation, limited to just one plant, presume criminal behavior? I'm not a lawyer (obviously) but this smells like a Constitutional issue.

  • When I look at the "mystery" Catalina UFO...?

..am I the only person who clearly sees the bright rocket exhaust at the point of origin of the plume as it is formed at the tail of the object? Do planes emit such a bright and vigorous exhaust? Maybe an afterburner effect, but in a civilian plane? (I am NOT a conspiracy enthusiast)

  • I hate loaded questions born in ideology and borne by sarcasm, so...?

I'll state my beliefs first. Income taxes I pay are MY money.I earned it legally. It remains my money even after the government takes it.I cannot spend it but I see it spent.I cannot control how it is used by those on whom it is spent, but I can place limits and rules on how they use it because it is my money they are using.Given that ethic,is it unfair for the people to tell wealthy people that their excess money is OUR money and not THEIR money? BTW: I am farrrr from wealthy.
