  • Can I replace 26 x 2.30 tyres with thinner tyres?

Hi guys, it's been a while!

I have recently purchased a beautiful second hand Giant Boulder 2009 bike. It needs a replacement rear tyre.

It currently has a 26 x 2.30 tyre. It's pretty wide and I'm lead to understand that this means it inflates to less pressure. I can't help but to feel that it slows down my ride.

My previous bike had 26x1.75 tyres. Would tyres of this size fit properly on my current wheels? Would it be okay if the front tyre was wider than the rear tyre?

I know you all may wish to answer this question, but please don't guess at it. I promise to choose a best answer based primarily on knowledge or understandable linked information and secondarily on order of answer.

Please don't answer if you don't know.

    Thank you!

  • Dreamweaver: Why are my images not where I am saving them?

    Hi everybody.

I'm editing a site in Dreamweaver. I have images inside AP DIVs. Most of them work fine, but a few of them show 20 or so pixels to the left or right when viewed on a browser.

Any idea what might be causing this?

    Cheers,

    Dave

  • Sharp 42" LCD has large shadow down centre of screen. Any common faults here that can be repaired?

Hi and thanks for taking a few seconds to check out my question.

I have a 42" LCD TV. For over a year now it has displayed a shadow, almost from the top to the bottom of the screen. You can see through this shadow and it looks worse on some colours than it does on others. There's no (other) sign of damage to the screen and, aside from this fault, the picture is perfect.

The shadow shape is curved, not solid lines, kind of like a spillage I guess. The shadow hasn't got worse over time.

The set is out of guarantee and I probably can't afford to have it fixed.

Does anybody have any experience of repairing such faults. Is something likely to need cleaning? Is there likely to be something easy to replace (capacitor, etc.) rather than an IC or the screen.

Your thoughts and answers are appreciated,

    Dave

  • Three Mobile Sim with Free Skype offer. Is it free if Skype is being used on a computer instead of a phone?

I've recently received a Three Mobile Sim Card that advertises free Skype and Windows Messenger calls and conversations (free bandwidth) from 'compatible mobile phones'.

I have ordered the sim with the sole purpose of using it in a USB dongle to connect a computer to the internet. I pay £10 a month for 1Gb of downloads. I won't be using much bandwidth, so this is fine, but it would be a very handy bonus if the use of Skype and Messenger on the computer was not deducted from this 1Gb.

I know the dongle isn't technically a "compatible mobile phone", but are the protocols in use the same? Are Three Mobile likely to charge me?

Of course, I could just check my usage before and after, but I just wondered if anybody already knew.

    Thank you for reading!

  • Can I use a 36W - 40W light starter unit on a 30W light?

I have a 3 foot fish tank and had ordered a 30W starter unit. However the guy sent me a 40W one.

A 30W starter is for three foot lights and a 40W one is for four foot lights.

I know that normally, the wattage is the potential power output of a device, especially when it comes to power adapters, and such a scenario would be safe. However, I'm not sure if this rule applies to this scenario.

Would it be safe to connect the 40W starter to a 30W light?

If you are speculating I appreciate your answer, but could you please state that you are speculating and, of course, if you are talking from knowledge or experience, it would be appreciated if you coluld let me know.

I will choose a top answer too :)

    Thanks,

    Dave

  • Why can't we all just get along?

Anybody who has ever been to a church (or, I guess, any other place of worship) will notice how there's a sense of community and good will.

Why is it so rare for communities to have local gatherings where religion is irrelevant?

Even many 'community centres' are set around religion, not that you see many of them now.

I'm thinking it's because people don't do much for nothing. If it's not about religion, it's about money. Are there any other schools of thought?

    Thanks,

    Dave

  • What do you think of the light display in the skies of Northern Norway on Wednesday morning?

If you are not familiar with this occurrence, check this out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rkx7myyAk4s or search online.

Common theories at the moment are:

    Failed / Succeeded Russian Missile

    UFO

    Northern Lights

    Portal / Stargate

    Laser light show

If you think missile, what do you think caused the beam of light coming from the spiral?

    Cheers guys and gals,

    Dave
