So I'm just about to download Ubuntu Linux to try on my computer, but I was wondering, when I download it, is there a Live CD that comes as part of that download I can use to try it before I install it onto my computer?

So I know that both types of processor are good for different things- quad core for multitasking, and dual core for gaming.

But what are the equivalents of each type against the other, for example, how fast would a dual core processor have to be to match the speed of a 2.4ghz quad core cpu. This is assuming that the cache etc is the same.

I have a page, that I have password protected, using just some simple JavaScript, but I have another page that I want to only be viewable if the password has been entered. How can I do this? What JavaScript should i add?

I'm currently building a website, and I want it so that I can have an e-mail address with a link so that, when pressed, it opens up a window with the default e-mail program, or just with Outlook, and with the e-mail in the 'To' field.

I was wondering which type of processor would be the best for me,a quad or dual core. I use my computer mainly for Dreamweaver, Photoshop and Office,as well as internet surfing and using a bit of Flash, I don't do any gaming.

I was looking at getting a new desktop PC, and have been looking into making my own, but a few people I have talked to about this say it is not worth it. I'm not worried if they take a while to build, but I was wondering, is it cheaper to buy the components myself, and assemble, or should I maybe buy one from Dell or another company (not worried about the best brands for now).

What will happen if i connect the vga port from my laptop to the vga port on my pc? Will it use the laptop as a screen for my PC or just screw up my system?

Which is your favourite operating system. I don't need to know the pros and cons of each one just the one you prefer, and one maybe two reasons you like it.

I am looking to purchase a graphics tablet and was hoping to buy one with a display. After a small amount of research all I found was the Wacom Cintiq, but they are very pricey. I was wondering if there were any other tablets that have a display, or are Wacom the only manufacturer that make this kind?

I want to be able to edit music that has been recorded onto the computer but at the present time i cannot afford an Imac or any MakIntosh computer is there any good and [not essentially] user friendly software for windows or even a different operating system or would i be better off saving up for an imac?
