  • Laptops: Dell vs Surface vs Acer?

Hello, I am looking to get a new computer for university in Computer Science. I have been looking at the following 3 laptops b/c they have SSD and i3/i5.

Which is better overall? Performance? Value? User friendly or fun to use? A good purchase? Does your opinion depend on the brand? Have you used any or all of these products?

    Dell Inspiron 7000 (i7579) 2-in-1 i5-7200U, 8gb RAM, 256 SSD $949 CAD

Microsoft Surface Pro 4 i5, 4gb RAM, 128 gb SSD w/Pen, Type Cover (keyboard), 1 yr Office 365, 2 yr warranty $1179 CAD

    Acer Switch Alpha 12" 2-in-1 i3, 4gb RAM, 128 gb, 128 SSD $679 CAD

    Thanks

  • Is the Surface Pro 4 Worth the Money?

I am looking for a new laptop that I will use for University (Computer Science), projects and at home.

    I was looking at the:

Microsoft Surface Pro 4 - 128GB (SSD), Intel Core i5, 4 GB RAM

    $999 + Keyboard (Microsoft Surface Pro 4 Type Cover) $169 + tax.

I do not think I really need the touch screen or pen. However, the portability is nice.

Is this device worth the high price? Or would it be better to look for a "clamshell" laptop? Is 128 GB too little?

I know there are laptops with i5, 8 GB Ram and 256 SSD for about the same price.

Can you suggest something better of equal or less price?

Would it be worth waiting for the Surface Pro 5 (either for the technology increases or because the Surface Pro 4's price should decrease)?

Please answer with as much detail as possible. Thanks

  • Choosing a New Laptop?

    Hello,

I am looking to buy a new laptop as my screen on my old one is giving me issues. I have began my research and have found 4 that seem interesting:

    1. Acer Swift 3 14" Laptop - Silver (Intel i5-6200U/ 256GB SSD/ 8GB RAM/ Windows 10)

    Model # SF314-51-53MF

    2. Acer Aspire E 15.6" Touchscreen Laptop - Black/Iron (Intel Core i5-7200U/1TB HDD/8GB RAM/Windows 10)

    Model # E5-575T-58WH

    3. Acer Aspire E 15.6" Laptop - Black (Intel i5-7200U/256 SSD/8GB RAM/NVIDIA 940MX/Windows 10)

    Model # E5-575G-55NW

    4. Acer Aspire E 17.3" Laptop - Black (Intel i5-7200U/1TB HDD/12GB RAM/Windows 10)

    Model #: E5-774G-582T

Please see this comparison I did on Bestbuy.ca:

    http://www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/compare-result.aspx?...

I will be going to University for Computer Science.

Please explain which would be the best option and/or suggest alternatives which are better. I would appreciate as much detail and reasons for your choice(s) as possible.

Would the difference in performance be worth getting one with a SSD?

The 17.3" has ded graphics but 1600x900 res. Is the low res ok?

  • CB500s for Off-Roading?

I was looking to get a new first bike. I like to go mountain biking and would like to go off-roading with a motorcycle. These bikes are cheaper/get more for the money than dual sports or super motos.

    Here are the specs:

    http://motorcycle.honda.ca/sport/cb500f

    http://motorcycle.honda.ca/sport/cb500x

It says that the X is more of an adventure bike but the specs are almost the same between the two.

Would they be good for off-roading or get worn out/damaged tires?

    Please give detailed answers.

    Thanks.

  • DRZ400SM vs. CB500X?

I am a beginner to the motorcycle industry and was interested in getting a first bike.

I have been looking at a few:

    NEW:

    http://m.motorcycle.honda.ca/sport/cb500f/2013

    USED:

    http://m.autotrader.ca/a/19_7943436

    http://www.kijiji.ca/v-dirt-bikes-motocross/barrie...

I was looking at dual sports and these supermotos because I enjoy mountain biking and heard they are more fun than streets bikes and make good beginner bikes. I looked at 250cc motorcycles but was told they are too small, especially on the highway, and I would out grow them very quickly. I live in Canada and if I have a dual sport I would go off roading occasionally.

    Which is better for me?

A brand new CB500X (2013) is only $500 more than these used DRZs.

Why are new DRZ400SMs so expensive ($7699)?

What would be better for a beginner?

    What would be more fun?

What would be better in the long run?

Is it safe to buy a used bike?

Can u explain the mods on the 2009 DRZ shown in the link?

How would insurance vary between these bikes?

If you have any other bike suggestions I'm open to them.

  • How to make MP3 songs louder?

I go mountain biking and I like to keep my phone in my pocket (and in a case) to listen to music I downloaded as MP3 files. As I am riding though (especially on trails and busy streets) it is hard to hear the songs even though they are at max volume. Is there a way how I can make the song louder before I put it on my phone so that it does not have to be on max volume? Like a website where I can upload the song and boost the volume or some free software?

  • Can I plug a composite cable into a component input?

    I am getting a new 42 1080p 3d hdtv (lg - 42lm3400)

I wanna connect my PlayStation 2 to the tv.

Can I use the PS2's composite (yellow, white and red) to connect it to the tv using the tv's component input?

    Like this:

    PS2 > out > composite cable > component (tv input) > tv

    Catch my drift?

  • What is the difference between the LG lm6400 and the lm6200?

I was thinking about buying the 6400 but bestbuy.ca (Canada) is sold out of the 47'' version but they have the 55'' version of this tv.

However, futureshop.ca (Canada) has the 6200 in both the 47'' and 55'' sizes.

So what are the differences, even small differences, between the lm6400 and lm6200?

Should I get the 55'' lm6400 (55lm6400) but I will be gaming so is 55'' too big of a size for playing games like Black Ops 2 and Assassin's Creed 3 in my basement (I guess I can sit about 12ft away but I haven't measured exactly).

P.S. These are 3d tvs (passive I think - LG Cinema 3d )and I kind of move closer to the screen when gaming if you get what I'm saying.

  • Is it worth €€$100 extra for cinema 3d?

I was thinking of getting the 42lm3400 lg led passive (I think) 3d tv to use for my PS3 (Black Ops 2, Assassin's Creed 3 and MW3), cable tv through coax cable, movies and bluray through PS3, and occasional connecting my laptop. I am on a about $500 budget and I can get this for $548 plus eco fee and tax here in Canada.

(Side note: I heard this tv is mostly sold to non 1st world countries but it is also sold in the US, so is this true?)

Regular 42'' tvs from LG and other name brands start at $449.

So what do you think I should do?

Sigh, or do you thing I should wait for more 2013 models to come out?

  • Help me make a website?

I have a school project where we have to make websites for our business. I am doing a small electronic (audio and video like tvs and home theater systems) store. We need to make a website that clearly shows:

The business's name: Anil's Audio Video

Location: Anywhere in the Greater Toronto Area or Ontario

Contact Information: Just a phone number

Price, picture and description of at least 3 products

    Where can I do this?

I need to be like a ".ca" site.

If you can make me a site and let me edit it that would be great!

If you can write these on the page that would be great!

    Toshiba 50" 1080p 60Hz LED HDTV (50L2200U)

    Model:50L2200U

    for $399.99

    LG 55" 1080p 120Hz LED HDTV (55LS4500)

    Model:55LS4500

    for $499.99

    Sony BRAVIA 50" 1080p 120Hz LED Smart TV (KDL50EX645)

    for $499.99

It does not have to be fancy or great like a Best Buy site.

A simply title like I showed above with the price would be perfect! A picture for each wouldn't hurt.

Just a basic site and please give me the working link - I would only need the site for a week.

If you do not know any info for the site just make it up but please make sure it makes sense.

    Thanks!

  • Can you find a TV for me?

I have been researching since December and when I finally find the TV I want there is an issue. Either out of stock or cannot price match with USA sites.

I want at least 40" (higher would be better - 50", etc.).

    I would prefer an LED.

I would also like a brand name.

I would play PS3, watch cable tv (through coax cable - SD I think), watch movies, connect my laptop(s) to watch tv shows and movies, and maybe buy a bluray.

It would be in my basement which has tube lights on the ceiling. It has a popcorn wall so I do not think I can mount the tv.

I would also buy a home theater, tv stand, hdmi cables, optical audio cables and a coax cable (50 ft for $19.99).

MUST BE AVAILABLE IN CANADA PLEASE.

  • Is it better to get a name brand power bar?

I am buying a new tv (LG 47ls4500)

and a home theater system (LG ts913es)

    I have a PS3

a PS2 (might not always be plugged in)

and a Nintendo 64 (probably not always plugged in)

Should a get a Monster Power Bar? Or is this like how Monster charges a lot for HDMI cables when all cables are the same?

Or any bar with a surge protector?

Here is the Monster Power Center Surge Protector:

    http://www.bestbuy.ca/en-CA/product/monster-monste...

If there is a power surge can it protect the items from another? Or it one time use only?

  • 20ft or 50ft coaxial cable for tv?

I am getting a new tv for my basement and want it to get cable tv (I have a basic box but for the purpose of having less remotes let's say no box) to this tv. The distance from the splitter (I think that's the name - the thing where the other coax cables to the rest of the tvs in the house start from) to where the tv will be is about 28ft (27 and a bit). So if I get a 50ft cable will it still work and look nice on a 47'' LG tv (47ls4500)? Or will I lose signal, or get snow or anything else, etc? I know 50ft is a lot extra but is there anywhere where I can get a 30ft cable? I want to buy it at a store not online.

I do not know much about this kind of thing so please explain (also what is dB?)

  • How I connect my TV to Home Theater and PS3 and Cable box?

    I am getting a 47'' LG tv (47ls4500)

And a sound system by LG (ts913es)

I have a PS3 that can be connected with HDMI

I have a cable box that can be connected with ONLY coax cable.

How do I connect everything together? HDMI or Optical Audio Cable?

Does everything get pluged into the surround sound/sound system and then one cable (like HDMI, etc.) to the TV?

Or does everything get plugged into the tv and then one cable to the sound system?

Please help and tell me what cables I need for the new set up.

A diagram with a the cables and devices shown and labeled would be great or even if you can say PS3 to tv with HDMI and cable to tv with (this), etc.

  • What happens if I use a Bigger TV on a smaller stand?

I like a 47" LG TV and an Init Stand that says it can support up to 46". However, in some places it only says it supports 42". It supports 135 lbs

TV: Weight with Stand 17.04 kg which equals to 37.566769 pounds.

Will the tv hang over the edge? Will it break (the stand or the tv)? The stand has glass shelves - will the break or shatter?

There would also be a sound system and a ps3 and small cable box on the stand.

The tv and stand will be new purchases so tell me if I should just find a bigger stand. Suggestions?
