  • How do I stop a girl from falling for a guy who doesn't deserve her?

A little while ago I heard a friend of mine recently got a job at a movie theater with the help of my former roommates. One of them however was really obnoxious and arrogant beyond belief and I never liked him at all. Recently, he's been hitting on her and it creeps her out but I have this horrible feeling she's going to warm up and probably come to love him. All I want is for her to be happy, no matter who she's with, but he's just so wrong for her it's not even funny. I mean she's this really sweet, wonderful girl and he's the most conceited asshole in the world. I don't know about you, but i'm tired of seeing nice girls fall in love with douchebags. Also I'm not exactly the best matchmaker. I don't know anybody else who'd date her and I know for a fact she'd never want to do anything romantic with me. I'm not saying that I decide who should date who, but I care for this girl even though she's come to somewhat resent me in recent years. What would you do in the same situation?

P.S.- I have considered the possibility that this all a paranoid delusion and that I'm only feeling this way out of contempt for him, but you never know.

  • How do you become more confident when there's very little to nothing about you to be confident in?

For a long time I've had trouble gaining confidence in who I am and it's affected every aspect of my life. My family feels downtrodden and my friends make fun of me (needless to say that doesn't really help). I know I can believe in myself and be a much better person but i don't know where to start. Plus I kinda have this irrational fear of being arrogant if I do so. I'm just seeking advice and willing to learn what others have done with the same issue.

  • Why does it always seem the more intelligent you are, the more arrogant and obnoxious you become as well?

Have you ever noticed that some of the most brilliant people are sometimes really pretentiously horrible. I'm not saying that being ignorant is the way to go, but lately I've come to distance myself from my super-intelligent friends. They always like to tease me when it's uncalled for or make rude gestures to me as if I was a 6-year old child. Is it perhaps that because i'm not as smart as they are that I don't see the "joy" in being a mean and irritating smart-aleck; or is it that one's intellect and ego are completely unrelated?.In my opinion, a high I.Q. shouldn't necessarily give you license to be a bona fide horse's ***.
