Have you heard of Bee Propolis?
"One isolated study had tested the benefit of propolis on women with infertility and endometriosis. The study indicated that consumption of 500mg of propolis twice daily resulted in pregnancy rate of 60% as opposed to 20% for women not given propolis.
How propolis would give this effect is still unclear."
It's got to be worth a go... It's completely natural - homeopathic. Google it.
1 AnswerTrying to Conceive1 decade ago3rd trimester ladies, how prepared are you?
I'm still at work :-( one more week and then I'm on maternity leave. I'm 35 weeks and 5 days at the moment and can't wait to feel the first labour pains.
So far... our nursery is finished and we have everything we need. I do still need to pack my hospital bag and wash the baby clothes but apart from that it's just a waiting game.
I feel really happy that I'm prepared physically and emotionally but when I look through forums it seems like loads of people have left everything to last minute. If that was me, as a first time mum I'd be a nervous wreck!
I have also learnt sooooo much about the procedures and terminology involved in the birthing process that I'm not scared about going into labour.
How are you all feeling and are you prepared??
7 AnswersPregnancy1 decade agoBaby/childhood Vaccinations?
I have recently been surprised to find out that lot's of people, for various reasons are choosing not to vaccinate their babies, as newborns and throughout their childhoods. If you have chosen to not vaccinate I'd be really interested to hear your reasons and to find out what kind of reactions you have received for your choices.
9 AnswersNewborn & Baby1 decade agoWeird tightening sensations (not Braxton Hicks) @ 30 weeks?
I keep getting these really weird tightening sensations in 2 different places. One of them is underneath my breasts right at the top of my bump, it goes all the way across and almost feels like tight pins and needles. It is the most severe here and will last pretty much until I change position then it starts to fade away.
The second place is my chest, the skin at the very top of my left breast, always the exact same place. This will tighten and tingle for a minute or so and then fade away.
I am 30 weeks and 4 days pregnant at the moment and always find it hard to get comfortable now. I have a slightly curved spine so my back always hurts and I always seem to have a dull nagging ache/pain under my left shoulder blade so maybe my posture is doing something to create these odd feelings.
Has anyone else felt this?? I have read so much about pregnancy symptoms and can't find anything to explain this.
2 AnswersPregnancy1 decade agoVets! Please help - Extremely stressed cat :-( Really long Q sorry)?
When my mum got her cat she was assured that she had been spayed and vaccinated etc... Imagine our surprise when a few months later at just a year old she gave birth to 2 beautiful kitties.
Before the kittens came along Saffron was always a very feisty playful cat but she also clearly loved my mum and would snuggle in to her neck and do the cutest thing where she would press her nose and forehead against my mums.
When she was nursing the kittens she was the most affectionate cat in the world, she loved being stroked while they were feeding and would purr for England.
But my mum was in the middle of trying to sell her house and didn't want to stress Saffron and the kittens by having strangers traipsing through viewing the property so we made the decision for the 3 kitties to come and stay with me - Saffron has always loved me and my partner and used to come to ours at the weekend when mum first got her. We were worried this might cause her stress but she seemed quite happy (the kittens were around 3 weeks old at the point). She used her litter tray, slept, ate and cared for the kittens normally. The only difference in her was that she would follow us incessantly whenever we walked through the house, making little chirpy sort of mews.
When the kittens were about 8 weeks my mum was able to have Saffron back - the plan was always that I would be having one of the kittens and mum would keep the other with Saffron.
As soon as Saffron was back in her own domain things started to go wrong. She would bully the kitten to such an extent that I now have both kittens at home. Sge would wolf down her food and then the kittens and fight with it all the time, in the end the kitten was only there for a week.
As soon as the kitten was gone she started to eat the right amount again, she started to go near my mum again, even sitting on her knee and purring. My mum decided to let Saffron into her room at night in the hope of building the affection levels up to where they were.
Saffron started really yowling all the time and prowling around and going off her food - I thought maybe she had gone into heat again so we made an appointment at the vet and had her spayed, which has caused her even more stress because she had to wear a collar for ten days and now associates her cat box with badness which she never did before.
A couple of days after she has her stitches out we let her stay out over night for the first time in a while afraid she may be fed up with being stuck indoors.
Yesterday mum got home from work to find a big pile of poo and wee in the hall way (Saffron has NEVER done this before).
She keeps mum awake every night pulling down the blinds in her bedroom and scrathing at things.
We just don't know what to do any more.
She has clearly been through an awful lot of upheaval in the past 3 months and I know that she's stressed I just want to know what we can do about it.
We have had the vet check that nothing else is physically wrong.
We made sure that the kittens were fully weaned before they were seperated etc...
what can we do to help her?
2 AnswersCats1 decade agoEstimate the vet bill for my Kittens (UK)?
I have 2 9 week old kittens; a brother and sister. I need to take them to the vet to get spayed and neutered and vaccinated. They have already been wormed and the local vet (Campion Care within Pets at Home) will microchip for free.
Can anyone estimate the cost for me so I know what to prepare for?
5 AnswersCats1 decade agoDescribe giving birth...?
For example, a little while ago I wore a pair of canvas shoes with bare feet and they were a little too tight, they hurt so much that I ended up taking them off and walking home barefoot and as they shredded my feet I remember saying to my mum (who I was with a the time) that it felf as though someone was using a rusty saw to cut the back of my heel.
So if you could describe your experiences of giving birth (preferably unmedicated) from start to finish, what would you say and what would you compare or liken it too.
I am due at the end of November and I intend to only go as far as gas and air but would like to know what I'm in for.
Thanks!
6 AnswersPregnancy1 decade agoPlease help! Just fell over!?
I just completely stacked it on the way to work - I fell over jogging across a road and landed completely on my front and I'm 22 weeks pregnant! I think my hands and knees took the brunt because they are pretty injured and swollen but I was literally inconsolable after it happened panicking about the baby.
I have called the doctor - I'm waiting for her to call me back. My stomach doesn't hurt and I'm not bleeding... Has anyone else had this happen? Should I be worried or is it okay if it doesn't hurt??
I can't believe I haven't fallen over in years and now that I'm pregnant I fall on my stomach! I only have a small bump so far and I know they are pretty protected in there but I can't help being scared - I'm, sure you all know what I mean??
Advice please?? Thanks x x
9 AnswersPregnancy1 decade agoWhat would you do? (Swine flu risk)?
I live in the most affected county in England and someone I work with has been on hols for 2 weeks in the Isle of White. He called today to tell us he had been in hospital with swine flu and even got deported back to main land England. The girl that took his call said he still sounds really ill but is intending to come back on Monday.
I spoke to our HR Manager because I am 5 months pregnant and said if he comes back can I go home and he said I couldn't!
He said he wouldn't let him come back if he thought he was still infectious - how does he know?? If he still sounds ill he still is ill - he didn't even talk to him.
I don't want to seem paranoid but at the same time don't want to be in the same room as someone with any kind of flu while I'm pregnant.
What would you do? Disregard their wishes and stay home on Monday, or come and see if he's here first and then go home? Either way I'll get in trouble.
2 AnswersOther - Pregnancy & Parenting1 decade agoAnyone use Talc/Baby Powder?
Please read this whole article if any of you use talc on yourself or your baby. I was certainly going to use it on my baby and already do use it "down there" to ease the irritation of shaving... not any more!
5 AnswersOther - Pregnancy & Parenting1 decade agoBoy or Girl?? Just for fun...?
At my 20 week scan on Tuesday (20w+2) my babies measurements are:
Head circumference 167mm
Abdominal circumference 144mm
Thigh bone length 33mm
The babies heartbeat is 34 beats per minute at last check.
I wouldn't say I have had any craving yet but I am loving Chewits and Starburst etc... along with anything salty like crisps.
Since the 12 week scan I have only put on 4 or 5 pounds and it all seems to be on my small bump and my chest.
Chinese gender prediction charts tell me I'm having a boy whereas quizzes tell me Im more likely to have a girl.
My mum showed her copy of my scan pic to her friend at work (nurses in a hospital) and they all separately said "ooh it's a boy"
Their reason was a dark patch on the abdomen. Apparently one way to tell the sex if the umbilical cord is blocking the essential area is to look for dark patches - 2 in a girl which are her ovaries and 1 in a boy.
I said that the dark patch could just be a full bladder...
Here's the picture in question...

So bringing together all of your knowledge of ultrasounds and old wives tales can I have you best guesses??

6 AnswersPregnancy1 decade agoLitter training kittens (4 weeks old)?
Our cat had 2 beautiful little babies 4 weeks ago and everything is progressing nicely with food and play etc... One problem is that their mother is still continuously licking them to stimulate their toilet habits.
Every website I read says that by the time they are 5 weeks old they should be wandering to the litter tray and happily going by themselves.
I keep their tray in close proximity and have been placing them on it now and again when I feel it's appropriate but they think it's a game - they like to scratch in it and nibble it and spit it out!
There was one accident a few days ago where one of them pooped (quite a lot) think she must have had an upset stomach - it was everywhere so I though that was the start of the process. I cleaned them up and went to work and when I came home she was ready to go again, I could see it trying to come out so I kept placing her in the tray until she had finished. Going to the toilet seemed very distressing for her and it was obvious she only went in the tray because I blocked her so she couldn't get out.
Since then (about 3 days ago) nothing, no accidents, no attempts.
Is it up to their mother to decide when to stop helping them or is there anything I can do to encourage it?
Thanks
4 AnswersCats1 decade agoPlease vote on my baby name list?
We thought we had it sorted. She was going to be called Maya until I told my partner I had changed my mind - then it was Isabella until he changed his mind so I have made a list of the names we have the most disagreement over.

10 AnswersBaby Names1 decade agoFree Psychometric/Personality Test Results?
Does anyone know of any sites where you can do a test for free and actually get the whole results for free??
They are so fascinating but every time I find a "free" one, they send you a tiny snippet of the results just to get you interested but then try and charge you £20 for the full report!
There must be some free sites out there.
Thanks!
1 AnswerPsychology1 decade agoDissapointing scan experience?
Hi guy's,
I went for my 12 week dating scan today and it was lovely to see my baby, all healthy, heart beating away - I feel I can relax a bit now and enjoy my pregnancy :-)
While I was having the ultrasound done, the woman was really cold with me and my partner. We were really excited but all she did was get down to business without saying a word, she didn't say "there's your baby" or anything, just started measuring - it was like I wasn't there, I had to ask to find out anything. I kept saying stuff and making comments as well just to get some interaction but mostly she blanked me! Me and my partner were really dissapointed.
Has this happened to you? All I read about on here is happy, emotional experiences (which is what I was expecting).
Got some great pics though - can't believe how clear it is, I can see the spinal bones in one and in the other the baby is facing the cam and you can make out the face - looks like a lil alien lol.
I loved it though, apart from her attitude.
11 AnswersPregnancy1 decade agoPlease help with my psychology work?
I am in the first year of my BSc Psychology and since discovering I am pregnant I am falling massively behind due to sickness and tiredness. I am working on a methodology assignment and there is one more question I have to answer in only 200 words and the more I look at it, the more I don't know what the write! My brain just feels fried.
The question: How would you allocate participants to two groups in an experiment where a between-group comparison was being made?
Please give me some ideas, anything would help, I'm not looking for the whole answer - just some tips??
Thanks!
4 AnswersPsychology1 decade agoAnyone else 9 weeks pregnant?
How are you feeling??
I think it would be nice to find people due around the same time as me so we can share the experience and compare notes etc...
From my LMP I am due on the 1st of Dec
So far I have had a lot of feeling sick (and being sick on occasion), dizziness, backache & daily Coccyx pain, headaches and peeing loads although that is starting to wear off a little now :-)
Email me if you want to keep in touch!
3 AnswersPregnancy1 decade agoWhat do you think of the names we have chosen?
I am only 7 weeks but we have decided already... lol
Girl
Maya Ann
Maya because we are fascinated with the ancient Mayan civilisation of Mexico and Ann because it is my mums middle name.
Boy
Oscar Peter
Oscar simply because we like it and it seems to be the only one we agree on and Peter because it runs as a middle name for all the men in my partners family.
14 AnswersBaby Names1 decade agoPlease help with my budget...?
In the middle of me try to raise and save money my partner has been made redundant. All we have coming in each month now is £1,195 and our outgoings are £1,120 which leaves us with £75.
That £75 has to cover food and clothes and everything else. The £1,195 only covers the absolute essentials like rent, council tax, water and electric bills, phone bills etc...
I need help.
I have already started cycling to work so I don't have to pay for the bus... I have lowered the tarifs on our mobile contracts as much as they will allow us... I am buying basic shop brands when I go shopping for food... What else can I do?
It's really cold but I haven't been putting the heating on, I'm washing clothes on the colder setting...
I fill in online surveys and I sell stuff on ebay, my partner has signed up for job seekers allowance (already included in the £1,195). Even though I only earn £14,000 each year at the moment we are not eligible for any other benefits.
What more can we do until my partner is successful in getting a job? That could be ages away with the way things are at the moment...
Any Ideas?
