Snail mail question ...?
Hey everyone!
I am not sure what to do. I got the mail today and so many pieces of it had my address on it with other people's names on it. Only my husband and myself live here, and just one other person owned the place before us.
Does anyone know how this happens? I'm so curious. I got a magazine with someone else's name on it with my address, I don't know how to send it back. Should I just do 'return to sender'? I'd hate for them to miss their magazine since they paid for it.
I have never seen so many pieces of mail for one address, when only 1 other person has lived here before. Not sure what to do. Should I just ignore it or put 'return to sender' on it? Or do you think they will catch the mistake themselves?
Thanks everyone!
3 AnswersOther - Home & Garden1 decade agoI am really at a loss with coping skills ...?
Does health insurance cover counseling? I am spiraling right now in my head and I can't get positive enough to fix it. I've had a really rough year and while a lot of good things have happened I'm finding that I don't have the coping skills to deal with the bad things. I'm on medication and I've HAD counseling before, but I'm really about to lose it and hit a wall.
No matter how good things in my life are right now I just can't get happy. I have a thyroid issue that I'm dealing with so that will get better. I am trying not to think suicide but it has been a thought in the last month or so. I am just really overwhelmed right now and I am having a hard time dealing with things.
I am not a revenge seeker, instead I just let it boil inside. I just need to let go and don't know how and it's all going to erupt soon.
I have a pretty good life but can't cope with certain things. Can anyone suggest anything? I don't want to like, be admitted or anything because I don't think it's that bad, but I am having a really hard time dealing with some issues.
Thanks if you have any suggestions.
2 AnswersMental Health1 decade agoSome girls thought I was staring at them?
during a conference we were having. I wasn't. The clock happened to be directly over their heads from where I was sitting, and the speakers were diagnol from their heads from where I was sitting.
They were really obnoxious the whole time in the class, they had their iphones on, talked louder than the teacher, etc., and were really annoying. I couldn't help but notice them because they were in my line of vision.
When they noticed I was 'staring' at them, or rather, paying attention to the teacher, which is not what they were doing, they started whispering and turning around to look at me. Finally the blonde practically screamed 'I can't STAND that girl', meaning me, and she had her friend turn around to see if I was staring at her and report it.
I don't know what I was doing. I wasn't even paying attention to them until they kept turning around to look at me. I don't know why they were; I just kept looking at the instructor and the clock.
I only know it was me because they were annoying the carp out of me and I finally just truly stared at one girl just to annoy her because she was being so obnoxious.
I couldn't believe we were all adults. I looked around the room ,which was packed, so people were having to look over other people's heads to see the front of the room, and no one else was making a big deal of people sitting catty corner to them!
The girls looked maybe 24? and I'm in my 30's.
I feel immature even thinking about this but I can't figure out what I did that was so wrong to warrant them pointing at me and snickering behind their hands. I was paying attention to the instructor until they got so loud the room was looking at them.
I just can't let it go. I don't know why adults have to act that way. It really floors me. I HAD to look in their direction to see the instructor and the clock. I don't get it.
And I am a happily married woman that has no interest in the female population. So I just don't get it.
I can't let it go. It's really bothering me and I didn't do anything back to them to stand up for myself but I didn't want to make a scene. It just really bothers me though. Any suggestions? Thank you.
5 AnswersEtiquette1 decade agoOur realtor has not come through and has lied to us about things.?
What should we do? We purchased a condo and the parking spot in front of us, she said was ours. People were parking in it and we put NICE notes on the windows to ask them please not to park there, as we owned it.
It turns out that we do NOT own it. It is misleading in guidelines that we have, and the realtor told us a specific one was ours. I was always wondering why there were 3 condo units painted on the curb to designate which spots belonged to who, and only two spots there. So some confusion has ensued.
Also, we do not have our laundry room door, no one has come to clean out our hot tub and teach us how to use it; it has been 2 months since this promise was made, the outside windows are filthy and frankly I think she should have someone clean it up,since it was supposed to be done a month ago. We have lived there 2 months now.
What time frame should all this be done in? I feel like we have been left in the dust. What should we do? I apologized to the neighbors for making a stink about the parking, especially considering we have a garage, but I still feel lied to.
I feel like an idiot in this whole thing. The neighbors were so nice an welcomed us and brought us cookies and stuff, and I got mad over a stupid parking space. What should we do about the rest of the stuff, i.e., the laundry room door?
Thank you for opinions. My husband and I are first time homebuyers and none of our families have ever lived in a condo; we have either always owned a house rented, so I am not used to condo associations and such.
Thank you!
4 AnswersRenting & Real Estate1 decade agoHow to deal with interfering mother?
Hey everyone.
It's one thing for my mother to interfere with my life, but another to interfere with my job.
It's a sticky situation because I learned I wanted to teach working at her school and with the teachers at the school, now I might get hired as an aid so I can go to school to get my degree.
Until I get hired on, however, I am subbing. I was supposed to work at the school the other day via mom. Mom and the other teacher set it up, not the secrateries(sp?) or principal like they're supposed to. Well, I have my account on Do Not Disturb because it will ring into my answering machine and keep other calls from coming in, so everything got screwed up.
Well, after we discovered the mishap, my mom called the sub office and got me a job at ANOTHER school. I was waiting for this job to come through this day and another sub got it, even though it was for me, and my mom promised me to another school without my knowing.
I mean, I don't want my mom setting jobs up at her school, even though I am grateful the principal wants to hire me. I don't want her setting up jobs at other schools for me. I was successful last year and landed quite a few long term positions on my own.
Bottom line is, should my mom be interfering with my job like that even though she is a teacher and can help? I don't really like it because it makes me look bad; i.e., not able to get to school on time because she calls me at the last minute, which happens ALL the time.
I'm so frustrated. Should I call the sub office and see what they can do to keep her from getting into my account ? I mean, she will call the sub office and set up jobs for me and then let me know about it after they have started for the day. It is sooo frustrating.
7 AnswersFamily1 decade agoI said something on a forum I regret?
I said something on a forum about a year ago that I still regret to this day.
I closed the account down, because at the time there was not a way I could go in and erase the comments I made, so I just packed it up and moved on. I have a bit of obsessive compulsive personality and I knew if it were to remain open, I'd keep saying stupid things.
However, it's still bothering me. I'm really careful about not linking my online identity to my actual identity, so I feel no one knows it's me. However, it still bothers me.
What would you all do in this situation? Also, I discovered that it is on another forum, a forum I didn't even know existed. How does that even happen? My obsessive compulsiveness sure gets in the way sometimes. Thanks all.
1 AnswerOther - Internet1 decade agoHugging kids in school? Opinion?
Hey everyone.
I teach a class where kids have no families, they get beat up at home, and they come to school with red eyes.
I generally make hugging a hands off policy and just pat them on the backs or the heads.
I am actually a long term substitute teacher, and these kids and I have gotten to know each other so well.
The problem is, they are so needy and they come and hug me and wrap their arms around my waist and won't let go. I usually pat their heads or backs, then hold my hands out to the side and try to get them to let go.
Today, a kid comes up and does that in the cafeteria. I was talking to the counselor and he had been doing so well in class and had been making progress. He hugged me around the waist and I wasn't thinking and just put my arm on his shoulder, barely touching him.
A kindegartener(sp?) came up and asked if I was his girlfriend. I feel horrible. The counselor was standing there and talking to us the whole time when the kindegartener(sp?) came up and asked that, and I feel horrible that that happened. I just wasn't thinking. My arm was on his shoulder, that's all, nothing else.
Is there a better way to deal with kids that are clingy and won't let go? Thank you !
11 AnswersGrade-Schooler1 decade agohelp with fast, healthy dinners?
hey guys. i have gotten some great tips on fast dinners online, but was wanting some personal experiences.
i'm working on losing weight; about 62lbs, for my wedding and just a healthier life, and i have all day down and even the after school snack (i teach) ... but when it comes to dinner, i just suck. i usually blow it with fast food or something from the freezer.
any good tips for dinner?
i eat well during the day, and i'm considering just substituting a protein shake for dinner until i get energy to start really learning how to cook.
what are some fast things for dinner you guys like to make?
thank you !
10 AnswersDiet & Fitness1 decade agoit seems no one cares about my wedding?
i'm getting married in 10 months. it seems like no one cares. we have the date, time and place set and are getting ready to send out invitations.
problem is, my fiance will not sit down with me to send out invitations, neither will my mom ... i guess we just get busy and whatnot. i only have one maid of honor; she lives about 4 states north from me, it takes a long plane ride to get from there to here.
i don't feel like anyone cares, nor has anyone really made a big deal. i want a big deal dammit ! my fiance says it's still too early and it may be, but i'd like to sit down with someone and look at bridal magazines and whatnot. every time i bring it up to someone it's like it falls on deaf ears, i think it's because i'm working on losing weight to get into a decent sized wedding dress.
i'm so bummed. what would you do? it's just like no one cares.
13 AnswersEngagements & Weddings1 decade agofor those of you with several kids?
how do you do it? things are so expensive and now christmas will be here shortly !
the only reason i ask is because i'm having to tighten my budget now that i'm going back to school and i'm trying to pay off my small debt before i do so (i'll be out of debt in a year!).
but i was looking at christmas presents for the family and i only have a few to shop for; how do you do it with your own kids?
what are some of the things you'll be buying for your kids? how much will you be buying them?
if you don't mind me asking. i'm just curious. i work in the public school system and i see so many kids with large families and my heart goes out to them because i know it's gotta be hard.
i'd appreciate any answers !
7 AnswersParenting1 decade agoHow do you shear a sheep on Viva Pinata for Nintendo DS?
Hey everyone. I'm so frustrated lol. I am level 5 on Viva Pinata for Nintendo DS, and I have the sheep, the hat, and the shearing shed, and sunflowers. I can't get the dang sheep to go in the shed to shear it for the beggar. I'm going nuts. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I've been in the forums and they all have the other game systems, not Nintendo DS. Thanks so much ! I'm really stuck; I need to get the wool to Igor the Beggar.
3 AnswersVideo & Online Games1 decade agoam i the only one that has?
said something stupid online that they wished they hadn't said? i usually am non confrontational, but i got into a bit of a debate over something with someone and even though none of it was bad really, just a misunderstanding, i'd hate for others to find it. i usually try to conduct myself online the same as in person and i just ... didn't have a good day that day i guess.
i guess i just want to know that i'm not the only one that has said something just plain stupid online lol.
i'd appreciate similar stories ... misery loves company and all that.
lol, thanks everyone !
6 AnswersEtiquette1 decade agowould this be considered offensive?
ok. i'm slightly worried about something that probably is nothing because i worry a lot lol.
i was helping my team mate at work put up shelves. she was asking me to stand behind her to see if she had the shelf even. i had someone talking to me from my walkie talkie, i had someone talking in my other ear, and i was flustered and couldn't get directions out 'left, right', that kind of thing, and when she asked me what side i lightly tapped her on the shoulder and said this side. i'm not a touchy feel-y person outside my family because i know there's a thin line, and i apologized to her later i was like 'sorry, didn't mean to touch you but i got flustered and couldn't get the words out'.
do you think that lightly tapping someone on the shoulder like that could be considered offensive or am i worrying too much?
thanks if you could understand my question if you read this far !!
5 AnswersEtiquette1 decade agowhat do you guys think about the tv show?
degrassi? and do you think the o.c. is good? i finished watching all of gossip girl and am really depressed now that it's over lmao.
i know i'm an adult but i hate shows like law an order and csi; they're just not my style at all. plus, i'm around teenagers at work (i'm getting promoted to a manager), and so.
i've also started watching deadwood and the sopranos and desperate housewives.
what are your all's thoughts on these shows? would appreciate opinions ! thanks !
1 AnswerDrama1 decade agoi keep getting sent notices ... ?
of non payment. i have great credit and paid every single time i went to the doctor. yet, the two times i went they are saying i haven't paid. i have bank records of it even, with their information on it. i have contacted them but they still send me notices.
i have NEVER been in this type of situation before. my credit score is in the 800s. always on time, always paid off.
i don't think i should have to go to the trouble of proving payment. the guys that work at that health care center are friendly and know me very well, and they know i paid.
could they have stole the cash ?? i even have receipts. how do these people think i owe them?
thanks for any advice, i sure appreciate it.
7 AnswersCredit1 decade agogossip girl?
are gossip girl books as good as the tv series? i turned my nose up at the series for the longest time because it seemed like it was for teens and the name turned me off.
but i bought season one on itunes on a whim one day when i was bored and i have fallen in love, i am addicted.
it's awful. it really truly is. i need help. it's my guilty pleasure to watch when i get off work.
i know the books pretty much have different plot lines but are they as good? i'm considering running to barnes and noble to pick them up. i don't have enough energy to read a thick, serious, 'adult' book. these look great. thanks for opinions !!
3 AnswersBooks & Authors1 decade agohow do i deal with this?
hey all. i have two bills from a dr's visit from earlier this year that keep coming back saying i need to pay. i have receipts from each visit and can prove that i paid, and even took it up with them, but the collections letters keep coming. what can be done? i am so irritated. thanks!
2 AnswersPersonal Finance1 decade agoneighbors?
my fiance has these neighbors at his apartments who sit in the middle of the side walk for hours on end. you have to walk around them in the grass any time you want to go somewhere. this is fine, but i'd rather walk on the sidewalk.
their dog chases us in the apartment every time we come back home. it's a cute little furball so i don't mind too much because i get to play with it, but it's still slightly annoying, so i have taken to just ignoring them.
why do people do that? to get attention? would this bother anyone else? it would be different if they were sitting up on their 'porch' or on the grass, but they are in the way. smack dab in the middle of the sidewalk.
thanks.
6 AnswersEtiquette1 decade agowhat do you think of target towels?
hey everyone !! i'm setting up house for me and my fiance and i'm getting accessories now so we don't have to put it all on credit all at once.
i LOVE target's design, and i was wondering about the quality of the towels and linens from the target home brand. has anyone had any experience they'd care to share? thanks much ! i appreciate any info.
oh, and target furniture too. they have some CUUUUTE chairs online. are they comfy or hard?
1 AnswerDecorating & Remodeling1 decade agois it normal to argue?
my fiance and i have a really good relationship and i love him a lot. we rarely argue, but we do argue. is arguing ok for a relationship? we don't do anything to hurt each other and we talk it out in the end and usually reach some kind of compromise.
but today it was an argument in which i had to walk outside at the movie theater to calm down and take a good breath so that i didn't continue the argument from the car and embarrass him. he got mad and thought i had walked out on him and was really embarrassed at what other people thought. i just went outside to cool off for a few seconds and come back in.
we have talked it out since and no harsh words, but does every couple argue? my cousin seems like she and her husband have the perfect relationship and they don't argue. i just wanted to get a feel that arguing some is normal. thanks much everyone !!
