A little about me. Well...my names LH. I'm a freshman in college. I play the drums and i've recently rediscovered writing poetry. I have a cousin who has a publishing company and she told me that if I get good enough she'll publish me, which is why I want as many fans as I can get. I've learned a lot in my 18 years of life. Mostly I've learned do wat you have to do for uou and keep God first and everything else will take care of itself. On the personal side I'm a good dude. Im laid back and I try to be calm most of the time. Some people who are close to me have told me that I have an "everythings o.k." attitude, although that's not always the best disposition to have.

    Would you do it again?

I really wanna pledge next semester, but I talked to someone today who said it's not worth it. He pledged about 20 years ago but dropped. I still want to pledge but i'm asking if you would do it over.

  • A poem i wrote ?

    called lie to me

    Lie to me

Tell me that that what I feel isn’t real

Convince me that it’s him and not me you want

Persuade me to believe things between us have changed

    Lie to me again

Utter once more how much you love him

Tell me again that you don’t need me anymore

Say that you want to spend your life with him and not me

    And again

Say that you don’t compare him to me

Say that you don’t reminisce about the time we spent

Tell me it’s not you I hear breathing across the phone at night

    And again

Tell me that you don’t miss what we had

Tell me that what you have with him is what you want

Say that you haven’t almost slipped and called out my name in bed

    Lie to me

Tell me that it’s me who’s stuck in the past

Tell me it’s me and not you that can’t handle the truth

And tell me you didn’t know that every word written was about you

    Lie to me again

  • essay critiquing please? ?

it's for my college application and i would like for it to be as close to perfect as possible.

When I was 15 years old I got my first job as a bagger at the local grocery store. Although it wasn’t the most glamorized job, I was appreciative of the opportunity. Soon after my first day, my manager noticed my work ethic and dedication and promoted me to a cashier. One day while I was closing a transaction with a customer I noticed that she had forgotten twenty dollars in change. Rather than put the money in my pocket, I ran outside and returned her money to her. In return, the woman offered me a reward for my good will. I feel that knowing you have righted a wrong is reward enough. I also feel that if someone takes a reward that they have not earned, then they will inevitably miss out on the lessons of work ethic. I feel that this event helped shape me as a person because it really showed me what type of person I am.

One thing that this event taught me about myself is that I am a very trustworthy person. When I came to the realization that the customer had forgotten her money I could have kept it but I immediately chose to return it to her. Were I not a trustworthy individual I would have not hesitated to put the money in my pocket and pretend nothing had happened. I feel that trustworthiness is key to the success of a leader. If a person is not trustworthy then making the wrong decisions will inevitably lead to their downfall. Another part of myself that this event showed me was that I am a responsible person. I feel that it is not only the duty of a person to do the right thing, but that it is the responsible thing to do. A professor of mine once told me “responsibility means doing the right thing even when it won’t benefit you”. Although we are all tempted by injustice at one point or another, those of us who are responsible will overcome the temptation and do the right thing. Giving the woman her money helped me to realize that I am the type of person who will be responsible enough when the time comes to do the right thing.

If I am accepted to this university, I will carry over this work ethic and will hopefully improve the school in any way I can. At my current school I am on the executive board on our SIFE team where I am head of the public relations department, I am on the SGA committee, I am on the drumline, I am a Leadership scholar, I am on the Dean’s List, and I maintain a 3.2+ g.p.a. I plan to be very active on your campus as well because I am absolutely positive I can reach and surpass the expectations of the average university student.

  • another poem ?

Im sorry if you wanted a permanent spot

But right now temporary’s all I’ve got

You can wait for me, but that’s up to you

But holding myself back is not something I’ll do

I told you long before that this was inevitable

But the memories we’ve made are far from forgettable

Don’t try to play tough I can see those tears

I’ve grown to know you well over the years

I know you’re tough so go ahead and hold them in

I promise I’ll be back one day, but until then

    Don’t wait for me…

  • long poem ?

They say profanity is the expression of an ignorant mind

But expressions tend to get ignorant in profane times

And the situation is changed when the stipulations are named

So I admire the ignorant because they only use profanity

Because it’s hard controlling the situation

Instead of letting the situation take control of me

They say wise men listen when foolish men speak

So I keep my ears low because fools pave the streets

They say wise men listen when foolish men speak

But spending life listening to fools seems pretty foolish to me

So if you only listen when foolish men speak

A word to the wise: don’t listen to me

They say dreams are windows to the soul

So if you’re scared keep your windows closed

Because if the windows are up then the passion might get out

And if the curtains open people might see what you dream about

But if your not afraid then open the curtains and let me see

Because you just might look just like me

  • poem ?

    You expect more

If for no other reason because you know what could be

You don’t wanna do it anymore

If for no other reason because you know how it should be

    You don’t look back

If for no other reason because you know how it’ll still be

    You continue to look forward

If for no other reason because you know what it will be

You’ve got it in your mind that everything’ll be just fine

Hopefully your mind won’t be withered by the test of time

To the brave-hearted that look father time in the face

Don’t look back. Vaya con Dios and keep up the pace

    called change

As life begins to grow people begin to change

And as people change relationships begin to diminish

That is to say, the next time I see you, you might not know my name

And as your memory escapes you, the relationship dwindles

But who’s to say the direction of these things?

Who’s to say if this is a good or a bad change?

Furthermore, whose to say you won’t remember my name?

The book of life is compiled of many different chapters

When we finish one chapter, we innately begin recording the next

Page by page we forget name by name until the pen runs out of ink

But before we leave that last mark of punctuation

All of those important names come back to us

Because before we finish writing the book

We must give credit to those who helped us write it

I speak imagery; I tell you what you want to see

I speak fluently, therefore you see vividly

I express myself through my vocabulary

So if I misspell a word it can be rather scary

My intentions are implied your reaction is inferred

Put me down and I know how you felt about my words

My brother is the epic and my cousin is linguistics

Some are rather difficult and some are simplistic

Im centuries old, my origins are unknown

My father is the poet and I am poem
