Just to be clear, this is for a story I'm writing.

Okay, so there's this boy. He's four years old. His father (a severe alcoholic) has been beating him ever since he could walk. His mother knows, but is too scared to do anything in case the father kills the boy or her. They got a divorce, but before anything could be discussed about custody of the boy, his mother kidnapped him and ran away to a new town, where they have been living for 3 years. The father did nothing about it.

Now, what exactly would happen, and what legal consequences what both parents face? What would happen to the boy (Where would he live, would he be put up for adoption, etc)? Also, how long would it take for all of these things to happen?

I need to stay up late to get things done, which I can't do when I don't have Monster.

Right now I don't have Monster, but I have coffee.
