I'm a Midwest girl who has grown up with cats all my life. I'll probably be one of the crazy cat ladies when I'm in my dotage. I adore cats, but I have a few strong opinions: ~Declawing should be used as a last resort and never used for any other reason. To discount declawing as a solution is ignoring that some cats would be put down otherwise. I do not take kindly to people attacking others who are faced with the dilemma. ~All cats that are not to be used for breeding purposes should be spayed or neutered. ~All cats should have regular check ups with a vet to ensure health and update vaccines. If you feel there is something wrong with your pet, follow your gut, go to the vet. ~All pets should be loved and cherished, but it should be remembered that they are not human and do not think, behave, or understand as a human does. A pet should be loved on its level as well as ours. ~~ Feel free to email me at any time to chat. Thanks for the trouble of reading this.
Civil Lawsuit on a 4 year old car accident?
My sister is being sued civilly for a car accident that occurred over 4 years ago in Missouri.
The facts as I remember them:
It was an icy rain day.
The woman ahead of my sister hit her breaks suddenly.
My sister slid into her.
My sister's airbags did not go off.
I'm pretty sure my sister did not get a ticket.
My sister's car was totaled but more for age than damage.
There were no serious injuries reported.
My sister was completely uninjured.
My sister had/has good insurance.
She's already going to get in touch with her insurance agency tomorrow morning. And I already know that Missouri has a 5 year statute of limitations for this sort of suit. I also know that Missouri has Pure Comparative Fault.
What can she expect?
4 AnswersLaw & Ethics1 decade agoWhich pill or pills to skip to get pregnant on purpose?
I have PCOS with a good deal of the possible symptoms. I really don't want to give up the pill and cope with all of my symptoms resurfacing while attempting to get pregnant. I can't take metformin because I have mild kidney problems and it makes my already normally low blood sugar nosedive horribly and I couldn't even adjust after 3 months of taking it. If I go off the pill, I would have to cope with: heavy bleeding, cramps that make me throw up, a gap between periods of up to 7 months, horrid acne, even more excess hair, and mood swings galore.
Yes, it is possible to get pregnant while on the pill.
No, it has a very low chance of hurting the baby.
Yes, women have had advice from their doctors about how to do this.
Yes, I will consult my own doctor before attempting this, but I like to have information from many sources.
1 AnswerTrying to Conceive1 decade agoMissing 9 week old kitten?
I was all set to adopt a kitten that had been born across the street to a stray. (Yes, the stray has an appt. for spaying.) Well, I get over there today and the kitten has been missing since at least yesterday morning. They thought I went ahead and took it.
I know it was probably snatched by someone else, but I'm going to call the local vet and see if someone turned in the kitten.
My question: If the kitten doesn't have a new owner already... How long is it likely to last, or likely to roam before returning?
I'm really hoping it will return. I want that kitten very much and will give it a good home, get it neutered, vetted, etc. But I will adopt another shelter kitten if need be. I guess I'm just wanting some reassurance.
And it has not been hit by a car in this area that we can tell, and we have no predators that I can think of.
4 AnswersCats1 decade agoFabric sources, not quilting?
Hi there. I started sewing about a year ago and I'm decent at it, but I'm having trouble finding suitable fabrics. I live in a rural area, and none of the fabric shops within a 2 hour radius cater to anyone who sews except for quilters. I like to make clothing. Shirts, skirts, dresses, etc.
I would like to have access to soft cottons, cotten knits, jersey, rayon... stuff like that.
And I have a limited budget. I could go to a local seamstress... but she is not shall we say nice about it or fair-priced.
I would love any ideas or helpful links. Thanks!
3 AnswersHobbies & Crafts1 decade agoHow did you get your cat?
We've had 8 cats in my house during my life.
Cleo- I think she was born to a cat owned by an aunt.
Callie- The same.
Cassie- My mom wanted a siamese, so she adopted an untitled runt from a breeder.
Neko- High School librarian's cat had gotten out and had kittens and my sister begged.
Socks- Born next door. She was the last kitten and the runt. I was the first person she smelled. I begged.
Piper- Wandered into the warehouse where my dad worked with his mom. The mom disappeared and my dad got attached to him.
Shaylee- She was due to be destroyed by our vet. She was found wandering. My sister begged.
Bianca- My mom was mourning Cassie (17 heart failure) and Piper (7 cancer) and fell in love when visiting the vet to pick up cat food. lol, the vet techs were wary of the couple who had already shown interest and they know we are devoted to our pets.
That's how we got our babies. How did you get yours?
11 AnswersCats1 decade agoCats and the question of declawing?
No, it's not something people should do at the drop of a hat. It's something to be thought about thoroughly and the consequences weighed. But I believe it is something that every once in a great great great great great while is necessary. Some cats are so violent that the are at their last stop as a home. Declawing is better than having them put down.
Have any of you had a cat that has tried to blind another? A cat that has bit through someone's nail and into the finger? A cat that scratches you at least once a week, unprovoked and on purpose??
Some cats need less pointies! And those of you who say "You're a horrible person if you do it!" Aren't changing anything. Give options. That is the only way to change that course. If someone is considering it, and seriously considering it, not as a frivolous thing, then it is probably necessary.
Now let's see how many people want to call me a cat mutilator. Just proving a point.
12 AnswersCats1 decade agoWhat is the oddest toy your cat has ever adopted?
We have a rescue cat, all white, female, about 2 years old and her favorite thing in the whole wide world is a chenille stem. They are like pipe cleaners only soft for craft purposes.
If we leave the stems in the package and don't remember to put it out reach, the whole package will be scattered on the floor by morning. And if you grab the package she could be rooms away and then suddenly be at your feet looking up at you longingly.
Don't worry, we fold the ends so she can't hurt herself. But she loves to steal them. She's a cheeky monkey.
So, what odd things does your cat love to play with?
14 AnswersCats1 decade agoA pyschotic cat...?
My family has 4 cats. One of which is vaguely evil. She was adopted hours before she was due to be put down. We love her dearly.... except for when she is the spawn of Satan. She can be very sweet and adorable, and with no apparent warning, her fangs are dug into your hand. It's taken quite a while to get her to calm down even to this point.
Unfortunately, our next rescue was a cat that had been fully declawed by its former owners. Needless to say, the crazy cat did not appreciate the newbie. The crazy cat went for the new cats eyes. So, regretfully, we had to have the crazy cats front claws removed. This was not something we wanted to do, but she did actually calm down afterword.
The only problem we have left is the biting. She's always been a biter. Other cats as well as people. We have tried walking away, the spray bottle, rewards for only good behavior. We're running out of ideas. We are actually considering letting our vet slightly blunt her fangs now. Help?
