Trainspotting, craft beer loving, middle aged, middle class, politically right of center white guy, with a wife, a job, 1 mortgage, 2 kids, 3 college degrees, and a bucket list a mile long. "It doesn't matter how deep the water is, if you know how to swim."
Is it easier to manipulate the simple and stupid by telling them they are smart, or by making them smarter?
Affirm or Enlighten. Isn't this what our national elections have come down to?
15 AnswersElections8 years agoWhen people vote based upon who they are, instead of what a candidate believes; is that still a Democracy?
My concern is with Identity Politics, and who (if anyone) benefits from it in the long run.
When you take the ideology and due diligence out of the electoral process, isn't what you're left with more an exercise in sociology than politics?

13 AnswersElections9 years agoIs Biden about to be thrown under the bus?
As the Democrats frantically jettison ballast from their sinking campaign ship, isn't he the obvious choice to get rid of, and add Hillary to the ticket?
This would get Bill to shut up now, and position Hillary to be the front running candidate for the next election. It would also explain President Clinton's erratic comments of late.
0bama would offer it because it provides him a scapegoat, and a tangible improvement over who he has now. She is also more popular with the voters of both parties than either of the incumbents are.
She would take it, because she wins either way. Either she becomes the Vice President and the highest ranked re-electable Democrat in the country, or she is the voice of the loyal opposition for 4 years, and leads the Democrats into 2016.

9 AnswersPolitics9 years agoLooking for a song title...?
The chorus is, "...They're damming the Canadian river."
It's a Folk or Alternative Country song, sounded pretty contemporary, but I don't know. Mellencampesque.
It's about how a farmer is losing his land to a government works project and the town lawyer can't help him.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
3 AnswersLyrics9 years agoHow can Democrats argue that the "Rich" don't pay their "Fair Share"...?
yet at the same complain about how tax refunds only help the wealthy?
The only way tax refunds can disproportionately go to the "Rich" is if that's where the tax payments came from in the first place. That's simple Arithmetic.
If Truth and Reason have any value in this discussion, then one of these complaints has to be wrong. Otherwise, it's just shameful demagoguery posing as compassion.
6 AnswersGovernment10 years agoQuestion for Wisconsin Democrats.?
Regarding the poor turn out.
It was bad enough that the recall election happened during the summer while school was out, but whose idea was it to hold it two days after Lollapalooza?
3 AnswersElections10 years agoMore uses for dead Democrats...?
So another dying Democrat has apparently made a deathbed plea to advance the president's agenda?
First it was Kennedy, now Holbrooke. It's almost becoming routine. Completely unverifiable and amazingly convenient. It's shameless opportunism of the highest order to use the deaths of these people as props for your own policies. I feel for their families.
How odd is it that in death, they get more respect from the people that disagreed with them, than they do from their own party?
2 AnswersGovernment1 decade agoPending GM IPO. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice...?
Let me get this straight, are the targeted buyers of this stock sale the same shareholders who just last year had millions of dollars worth of their original investments in GM illegally confiscated and redistributed by the Government when they took it over?
Is there actually a market for that?
How stupid do they think we are?
It should be obvious that this IPO is going to bomb. Yet all the buzz is about what a big deal it's going to be. Who's fooling who here?
2 AnswersCorporations1 decade agoAnyone else smell the fear at ESPN?
They paid a bundle for the American broadcast rights to the World Cup, and now they can't get anyone to watch. The ratings are going to be huge everywhere else in the world.
They have been hyping it endlessly for the last couple of months, both directly and subliminally. It has been advertised directly, which is to be expected, but they've also taken to more subtle things like having the 'Top 10 Plays Of The Day', include at least 2 goals being scored somewhere in the world, or an 8 minute sidebar story about the controversy over how the new ball is constructed.
I'm not saying this is good or bad. I just find it interesting. Apparently, the ESPN folks were late in realizing that it's going to be hard to get Americans passionately interested in any sport where the over/under is 1.
