I recently finished the Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare and it's one of my favorite series ever. It's pretty much everything I want in a book. I also read Infernal Devices and ordered Clockwork Princess. Only now I'm having that letdown where I can't find anything new that's as good. Suggestions please!

I'm 15 and I love fantasy, battles, action, magic, supernatural creatures, and romance -- although I'm wary of romance because of all the vampire forbidden love bull that's being written nowadays (sorry Twihards....). I have nothing against vampires though :P or forbidden love, as long as it doesn't consume the entire story. Also, I tend not to like stories set in the future. I'm willing to read anything else although I think my favorite is modern world settings.

Literally anything by Tamora Pierce

Cassandra Clare (obviously)

Rick Riordan, especially the Percy Jackson series and the spinoff series that's still being written

Cornelia Funke, especially The Thief Lord and The Dragon Rider

Phillip Pullman

The Maximum Ride Series - although IMO it kind of went downhill after the third book. I'm not planning on reading the final book anytime soon...

the Eragon books or whatever by Christopher Paolini, (his pacing kind of drags though)

...And more that I can't think of now but you probably get the idea. Emphasis on similarities to Mortal Instruments because I'm in love with it right now.

BTW, NO Stephanie Meyer. I did read the Twilight series because of all the hype. The first one wasn't too bad, but the characters (especially Bella!) were weak and 2D, and the whole thing was just romance with a tiny bit of action. I prefer action with a healthy bit of romance mixed in.

Sorry for rambling...thank you so much to anyone who answers seriously. I need something to read while I wait for Clockwork Princess and The House of Hades to come out!!

-Edit- Also, Jace from Mortal Instruments is my love...haha...I like sarcastic male (or female for that matter) leads. Can I just say that in my mind he is the most beautiful man ever, even if Jamie Campbell Bower IS playing him in the movie?? (*sobs* Alex Pettyfer why did you turn down that role???)

today my earphones suddenly stopped working in one ear. I know it's the earphones and not my phone because I tried them in my laptop too, and the same thing happened. I noticed that when I twist the jack and push it in more firmly sometimes it starts working again. but when I take my hand off the jack and stop pushing it in, it stops. I really like these earphones, even though they were sort of cheap they work well and they're cute haha. so how can I fix this? thanks in advance!

I just got my ears pierced for the first time, about an hour ago. But my head hurts and I feel a little nauseous. It might just be because I was having allergies already (I'm allergic to pollen and stuff), and I kept sniffing and sneezing and all that. My ears also feel a little weird and slightly ache, but I'm sure that part is normal.

I am currently dating this guy, since about a month ago. We're not quite boyfriend and girlfriend yet. But I don't feel like I need or even want to be his girlfriend. I thought it was okay to have a casual relationship, going on dates and stuff, but not really anything more. I'm not serious about him, I like him but I don't LOVE him. Well, I'm fourteen so I don't think I really should love anybody seriously yet.

But I'm starting to get the feeling that he's really serious about me. Originally I was going to turn him down, because I thought he was serious, but he said it's okay if we just go on dates. So I said yes. I'm just worried I'll get his hopes up.

Also, I'm being pressured by my friends and his friends to just make it "official" or whatever, and I hate feeling like I'm obligated to do something because the majority thinks it's right. I wanna decide this by myself for the most part. I'm fine with this casual relationship but I would be fine without it too, and I feel like my friends pressured me into saying yes since I was neutral and willing to try. What should I do?? Should I break up with him? Should I make it absolutely clear that I'm not serious, or should I just imply it? I'm really confused since this is only my second relationship.

i'm a high school freshman and the dance is semi-casual...so like skirts, and maybe dresses, but not anything too dressed up. i have a date that i'm sort of interested in, hehe :3 so i really want to look nice but not too showy. my normal style is a little flashy and unique, and i like short skirts because i'm pretty short, so they make my legs look longer.

i would like to wear a tube skirt because i found a really cute cheap one in black or red. the problem is that a lot of people will be wearing the same kind of skirt in black, and probably some in red too. how can i make my outfit unique??? also, i don't really know what kind of shirt to wear or how to wear it. should i tuck it in or leave it out??

it's about a girl named comfort... she has a dog she really loves and a little sister, and I'm pretty sure she lives at a funeral home because that's her family business. At one point she gets in a big fight with her best friend, I think her name is declaration. the main event of the book is when there's a big flood. I don't remember why she is outside, but she gets caught in it. She is rescued but her dog is swept away. I read this book a really long time ago when I was younger, and recently it's been bothering me. I think the title has the word "beautiful" in it, but i'm not sure. Does anyone recognize this book??? thanks a lot!!

anyway i asked my friend to a dance. i've only known him for a little while (like a month) but i really like him a lot. although i only asked him as friends because i've never asked a guy anywhere before so i was really really nervous. then he said he was already thinking about going with someone. i'm pretty hurt and i feel stupid even though i was half expecting to be turned down. so how should i act at school? he's in a lot of my classes and we are pretty good friends, we talk a lot. i still really like him and i don't think he knows because i only asked him as friends. and should i try again? should i just give up? please help!!

Okay I have a Samsung Solstice, and I've put some of my songs from iTunes on it. I also figured out how to only take clips of a song from iTunes. The problem is, every time I try to set one as a ringtone, it says the file is too big! Even if the clip was only 15 seconds long. Just to try it out, I took a 2 second clip and set it as my ringtone, which worked.

I've looked at the other ringtones that came with the phone, and there is one that is 27 seconds long and only 260K, and it's an MP3 file just like the others. However the 15 second clips are more than that, and they are also MP3 files! I don't really get it, and I don't know a whole lot about this stuff. Please help!

Oh and also I don't want to buy a ringtone because they only offer the $__ a month kind of plans, and I only want one or two ringtones or be able to make my ringtones. But if anyone knows how I can buy one or two individually, that would be great!

Hi I'm 13 just started freshman year. I want to start wearing makeup, just a little and keeping it natural, but enough that people will notice. From what my friends say I was thinking some kind of liquid foundation, eyeliner/mascara, and lip gloss. Can someone please tell me good products to buy? Please be specific. Also, if you think I should be starting with something else or if I am missing something please comment.

I also have some acne on my forehead, will some makeup be bad for that? Or can I cover them up without making them worse? Thanks very much!! xx

it's for the manga i'm writing, i have most of the characters named and outlined. the one i need is a girl named Aoi. she is very talkative and likes to fun doing whatever she's doing. she is very strong and sometimes breaks things accidentally. please help me and thank you very much~!

A character in the story I'm working on needs to have been involved in some sort of crime... The character is a high school girl, I haven't really decided her age yet but she should be about 17, I guess. It needs to be something that a normal but relatively innocent high school girl might do (so, not something like prostitution or murder).

Due to the circumstances (it's just the back story so I'm not going to explain it) she goes to live with her mom and sister who's older by just a few years.

Again, because of back history, the older sister is trying to get her younger sister to date her close friend, so she blackmails her with [some kind of crime].

I mean for this part of the story to be a sort of lighthearted, sweet love story, and it can also be funny.

I'm writing a manga about some high school students who form a school club, and I need a name for it. On the surface they're the maintenance club so they can continue to be sponsored by the school. In reality they do a bunch of crazy stuff that they've always wanted to do...a "no regrets" kind of thing? Haha. I'm planning for the name of the club to also be the title of the story.
