Phone broke after one week of repair, what are my rights to return?
Took a Sony in for a repair a week ago, screen was smashed. Screen was replaced with an OEM screen and I was on my way.
I had the phone in my jean pocket on a walk. Saw my bus, went to get it and the phone screen has cracked in my pocket. Right in the centre.
Typically, the item the shop used was not to satisfactory quality, but the owner seems to pushing towards "your word against the manufacturers". What is the specific law on this?
I feel whole heartedly that the product used does not surpass day to day use age of such a device, and the cost of it. I had the same phone for at least 4 months before hand and treated it the same way.
6 AnswersLaw & Ethics5 years agoHow do you put a killswitch in a 4 pot guitar?
http://i807.photobucket.com/albums/yy360/Double-Ta...
So i bought a 94 sheritan the other day, its lovely, but i like to tinker, so im going to be making a killswitch for it...this is slightly new to me, so im asking for help...how would i go about making a killswitch for a guitar with 2 volumes and 2 tones?
The switch itself will be mounted onto a pickgaurd, but im enjoying the idea of a momentary sensor pad at the top of the pickgaurd near the neck...out the way and pressable while playing...but one step at a time!
1 AnswerRock and Pop6 years agoWhich Helios 58mm 44 will Hit a Canon DSLR Mirror?
I bought a Helios 44m (58mm f2) for about 6 quid. I intend(ed) to use it on a Canon 5D MKII.
Will the Helios 44m with Adapter (any old adapter that fits) hit the mirror at any point?
3 AnswersPhotography6 years agoIs the Canon 5D MkII worth it over the MkI?
I m looking for full frame…preferably Canon (for the lenses)…the 5D mkI sits at the cheapest for 300-400GBP (second hand).
The next step up is the 5DmkII (which is looking at 700-800GBP).
The differences between the two? I know the obvious…such as MP count..sensor cleaning…etc etc…but practicality? What would i see difference wise? How easy are the two to navigate etc?
3 AnswersCameras6 years agoCan a UK Business refuse to let you take job if you have to move address?
My girlfriend has applied for a job at our local Aldi. Interview went fine, got a phone call saying she could sign the contract, when she'd start etc etc. Unfortunately, she is having to move flats in 4 weeks from now.
As a result, the area manager at Aldi has said she can't sign the contract, and they will put her in the closest Aldi to the area she is moving to instead. So she is essentially, without a job at the minute, which a landlord won't look favourably on.
My gripe is, she has 4 weeks before she moves, and the store can't even tell what area she will be moving into, and now is going to struggle unless she has a pay roll.
Is this right? Can the manager do this? She was led on to believe she had the job, and apparently wasn't told of this problem in all the previous interviews.
2 AnswersOther - Careers & Employment6 years agoHow do you cycle with a padded bike bag?
Seriously…I'm doing some touring in a few months. I'll be flying and coaching to the start of it all, but how do I cycle 50miles a day with a padded bike bag (so i can get a plane back home afterwards)…am i missing something? What do you guys do?
9 AnswersCycling6 years agoHow far would be too much to cycle?
I'm having a rough moment and I want to get out of the usual rut for a short while. So I will be getting a ferry to france and doing 4/5 nights in hostels cycling to each place. not really much excitement, but nice places, a fresh change.
How far would be too much for someone to cycle who is not always on their bike? I like to cycle, i like to do exercise, and i will have at least 4 weeks to ramp up my fitness before I go. Each stretch from the looks of from town to town looks to be about 40 - 75 miles.
I am confident doing 40 miles over the space of a day, making a stop in a few smaller towns or villages I pass. But what about 75? It would be a longer day, and taking it easy would result in at least 10 hours of cycling surely? Am i punching way above my weight? Or is it feesable if i just take it easy and enjoy the ride?
7 AnswersCycling6 years agohow can you custom a solid state guitar amp?
I wanted to get a cheap-o SS amp and fix it up, get the most out of it, colour it up and change the knobs to be a grolsh tribute (nice bottle green leather, dark wood dashboard, grolsch ceramic bottle tops for knobs...oooh).
Anyhow, if I have a basic volume, treble/mid/bass SS amp, what could I change on the circuit board to "make it better" (different tones, head room etc etc). Can it be done? Can anyone send me.info on how an SS amp works?
Many thanks
1 AnswerOther - Music6 years agoMy Light has only two wires instead of three?
I have a diffused lamp for photography (simply, a lamp).
The earth pin came off the plug so I need to fix it (it's a sealed plug I can't get into). So I've chopped the old plug off in hopes I could rewire to a typical 3wire plug from Wilkinsons (the kind I can unscrew and get into).
But I've realised there is only a blue wire and a brown wire. (I'm new to all this, so it's confused.me).
Can someone explain why there is only two wires? Can I use a normal plug made for 3wires to fix this, how so and what I'd need to do?
All help is appreciated...Thankyou
5 AnswersDo It Yourself (DIY)6 years ago1/4 inch wood router or 1/2 wood router for large cavity areas?
For example, carving out the inner of a guitar (3" x 12" x 12" roughly).
Would a 1/4 inch router do the job?

1 AnswerHobbies & Crafts6 years agoquestions on making a semi hollow guitar from a cheap les Paul?
So...Im bored and want something to do for a good while, so my brain has tolD me I want a non cutaway les Paul (yellow...mmmm), with 1fhole, semi hollow. And for it also to play like a Hofner senator...rather than an electric (last part I reckon might be.tough, but hay Ho).
I don't have any issues about finding a cheap les, sanding the paint off, filling in the cutaway, then painting it up like the Gibson melody makers. (a cheap paint job really). However, I was considering getting the body and routing out about half of it to make a cavity, then make a new 'top' for the guitar body and sealing it on (like on an acoustic). It'll probably be a butt join, but I wanted to know if anyone knew.of anything that might help, say tutorials or techniques? A point in the right direction would help.
I've shimmed guitars together before, but this would be the most elaborate thing I've done. The les won't have the raised tops, it'll just be a flat top with smoothed edges.
But please, all help would be appreciated!!
1 AnswerRock and Pop6 years agowhy do some Christians believe in the blood moons?
Just out of interest. Why do some Christians believe in the blood.moons? There are two.people who have littered the Internet with their theory on what the blood moons mean, and why.
So if it's such a clear sign, why are other people who study the bible not speaking out? Would the Vatican (for example), not have made a statement yet?
Somebody debate this with me.
9 AnswersReligion & Spirituality6 years agoI need help choosing a good bike to cycle to work and back? What would you recommend?
I haven t rid a bike in 5 years, but I now need one to get to work. (It takes me 2 hours to walk there and back, so i want to try cut that down as much as possible).
I don t know a thing about bikes, but i am willing to learn how to care for bikes, what makes a good bike, and how long "they last" for.
So i phoned Halfords and Decathlon, and they threw a few recommendations my way, i just wanted to ask what you guys would recommened? Or advise.
I ll be using it 5 days a week, for roughly 6 miles a day on a mix of pavement (pretty rough pavement) and road. Typical British weather (rainy, sunny, windy, cold) and i have a budget of £250-£270. I d want it to last at least a year/year and a half before i have to consider doing any drastic changes. (I understand chains, brake pads, and tires will be replaced more regularly, but I don t know of any other problems that might happen which would be detrimental).
I didn t really want to go second hand, as I don t know Bikes well enough to know if what I m looking at is any good. I don t want to get something which will break after a few months.

3 AnswersCycling6 years agoIconic 50mm prime camera lenses?
So, I'm looking for an arson of lenses, (any mount, m45 or f mount may be preferred).
At the minute, i want to find a nice, sexy 50mm (something here or there abouts), mostly for portraits. (The lens will be on an aps-c sensor).
My problem is, i search for older prime lenses (as i like them - don't judge me, i just like older, manual focus lenses), i either get cheaper lenses like a Helios 44 ( Which in all respects I'm sure is a good lens), but i can't find a mid ground price lens.
Everything is either £50, or shoots off to £400 upwards.
So, requirements:
Roughly 50mm prime lens, budget £200
At the minute, this lens is the only one i can find, Carl Zeiss Biotar 58mm F2

2 AnswersCameras6 years agoWhat is the best nikkor 50mm lens (or 85mm)?
I am after a 50mm full frame lens for my d300, or an 85mm aps-c lens.
Budget about 100 pounds, second hand.
It sounds like all the wrong reasons for getting a lens, but i like manual focus on ai, ai-s lenses. So as long as the image is sharp, ok with CR, then autofocus and all that jazz isnt really important.
2 AnswersPhotography6 years agoAdvice on Lenses for my Nikon d300?
I ve had in my grasp, quite happily, a nikkor 28-50 ai-s lens for a little over a year now. However, I ve recently had a job for a warehouse when the widest this lens will go on a aps-c sensor just won t do. With only a little bit of money, I m going to be selling this and getting the nikkor 18-55mm stock lens.
However, I like being able to reach roughly 85mm, so i ll be getting a full frame 50mm lens, or a crop size 85mm lens.
What are your best budget lenses in those focal lengths? Any make, I m all ears, nothing over £100 second hand.
Autofocus is not important at all. A good bokeh would be nice, but not really important for now either. I guess i m just focussing more on good CR control, good focus ring..the basics.
3 AnswersCameras6 years agoCan an apprentice house share with Uni Students?
I am an 18 year old apprentice, earning a good enough wage, with further pay rises and a job to come in the next year and a half/2 years (10k annum at the minute).
I wanted to know if I can actually house share with Uni students, of my age (roughly), or are those types of living areas for students only? I'm on about private renting, not the uni living quarters.
I'm just looking into a house share and wanted to know.
3 AnswersRenting & Real Estate6 years agoI can't find a GP due to my road name (UK, Manchester)?
I'm trying to find a new GP, however, have been turned away from a few local ones due to the road i live on (these GPs are a 5-10 minute walk away).
I live on Hyde Road, Gorton, M18 7LL, and have been told several times that because i live on Hyde Road, I am out of their area. Which doesn't make sense, as other Gorton GPs who are based off Hyde Road will (apparently. The gp that will accept me is one of the worst rated on the NHS website).
I wanted to know if this is correct for a GP to do? Hyde Road stretches from the centre of piccadilly to to the M60, and i have proof on ID and bills that i live in a very close area.
