  • Is this normal for a spayed kitten?

My 10 month old kitten was spayed last Tuesday May 18th. She is wearing a cone collar presumably because she has disolving sutures. She also received her first rabies and distemper shot the same day.

It has been 12 years since I had a kitten spayed or neutered (I adopt older cats usually now) so I don't know if her sudden behavior of hiding, sleeping a lot and being rather despondent is normal or not.

I have checked her incision every day as directed, it seems to be healing quite well, no weeping, swelling or redness.

She was in heat when she was spayed, so I'm not sure if it is just the sudden change from being full of energy and amorous to being completely stripped of her feminity that has caused it or not.

She is eating, drinking and using the box normally.

    Any cause for concern?

  • Aftermarket Accessory for 1994 Accord LX?

I dug around the net a bit, but just came up with some sites where you post what you want and then hope people respond.

I have a 1994 Honda Accord LX, 2 door, 4 cylinder engine, and it is missing the ashtray. It really wouldn't bother me, except that there is an exposed light bulb that shines under there when the headlights are turned on.

Please don't tell me to unscrew or take out the lightbulb. The car was in close to pristine condition when I got it, and I am trying to keep it nice and restore it to its original condition.

    Thanks!

  • 2004 Subaru Impreza Sport wagon TS stumping my mechanic, can you help?

Please excuse me if I use incorrect jargon or terms, I am learning as I go here.

I'll try to be quick and as complete as possible. Loaned car to a friend who drove it hard in a blizzard after I asked him no to and the check engine light came on. No problem, his buddy has a computer, he'll hook it up, clear the code, if it doesn't come back in 10 miles, all is well.

I think there's some secret mechanic's code book somewhere so I don't bother to ask what it told them.

Light came back on about 6 week later (after I got rid of the friend) then I think I feel the car shudder when the light blinks, but it only lasts seconds, so I'm unsure.

Figured, well, the check engine light was no big deal back when his friend cleared, I'll just keep driving it. I did that until I was almost at work one day and the car just stops running... in traffic, thankfully was on the right and able to drift to the shoulder.

I turned everything off in case it was battery related (that's the extent of my knowledge) and it fired right back up. Got to work, called my mechanic.

So, love my mechanic, and even though it's against policy he lets me watch him work and explains everything to me. Computer's coming back that there was a 2 & 4 misfire, which if it freakishly happened simultaneously could've shut down the car.

He clears the code, doesn't want to charge me for plugs until he's sure about the problem.

I return, comes back just #4 misfiring. He switches out the #4 and puts it in another position. Clears the code...

Come back, sure enough, #4 misfiring, but he still thinks it could be one of 3 things so he wants me to drive it a while and see if he can get more info off the computer.

Finally last Friday I was driving to the store, light started blinking and it shuddered for about 5 seconds, I also detected a loss of power. On the way back from the store, the light started blinking, and kept blinking for at least a mile, then I was sure, not only was the car shuddering, I had the gas pedal on the floor and it wouldn't go above 35 mph. I could hear all the pistons weren't firing and could hear them resume when the light came back steady.

So I drove it right to him. Eegads, this time, the computer detects NOTHING about the engine, only comes back that my neutral switch is bad. Now the dang check engine light is blinking like a christmas tree on crack.

O, and if you think, this garage is taking this girl for a ride... seriously, they're stumped. I haven't been charged a nickel for any of the diagnostics, they fill my tires twice a year free, they patched a tire that I got a nail in for free, they charge me half what my old mechanic did to change out a headlight bulb.

He is calling Subaru tomorrow. Want to see if any of you gearheads will come up with an explanation he hasn't thought of yet. BTW, I've beat the hell out of the exterior, but always kept on top of my engine maintenance.

  • Need Vet advice-is a healed broken ankle repairable?

I adopted an 8 month old male kitten from a shelter on Sunday. I am seeing a vet on Saturday but would like some input ahead of time.

His left ankle was broken at some point and left to heal when he was stray. It basically is bent in at a 45 degree angle and I can feel a boney nodule on the end where his leg bone is.

His left paw seems to be fully functional, so I don't think there is nerve damage. It is just as if his ankle broke, then healed and fused to the side of his leg bone.

Making an educated guess, do you think surgery and resetting the leg could work? Or might there be a risk of losing use of his paw? He may look a little strange, but he gets around just fine and I love him no matter what.

Also, what would a procedure like this cost at your practice?

  • Why does pasteurized half & half last over a month, while milk only lasts about 10 days?

My half & half says it's "ultra-pasteurized" and lasts over a month... why can't they do this to regular milk so it lasts more than 8-10 days?

  • Can I do it? Have you done it?

lol, This might belong in mental health.

I'm 34, and after 16 years out of school I think I can go back. I graduated HS with a 3.7 GPA.

The problem, my brain has atrophed since then. I bought a math refresher book, and I didn't remember how to multiply decimals correctly.

The punchline: I want to go back to school for accounting.

    Am I delusional?
