  • Should men protect women?

So i personally believe that, as a man, it's natural, primal even, to protect women from danger. When my girl told me her house might be being robbed while she was in it, i had a strong surge of adrenaline and immediately felt the need to keep her safe. When she said she was coming to London and we can meet up, i said that you might want to be careful as she's more of a country girl. She replied with something along the lines of "you'll keep me safe" and that really made me happy that she feels safe around me.(incidentally, her house wasn't being robbed, she was just a bit scared and needed some reassurance) What I'm getting at is that i believe it's 100% natural for a man to protect a woman, even if the woman is a complete stranger. It does, however, annoy me slightly when i hear of feminism telling women to shun male protection. I've nothing against feminism, and equal rights and whatnot are VERY important for a happy society. It just ticks me off that some would have men deny their natural role as protector, it's not natural to get rid of it. I'm not suggesting that women can't get their way out of trouble, i just think it's good for a man to be there just in case. I'm also not saying that i would immediately go for violence, as talking your way out of a situation is normally the better option. I just think it's good to know that if a woman needs help, there will be a man there to help them. When i say a man i mean a guy who won't cower behind his girlfriend in a bad situation. Undoubtedly, someone will say, but it's men who women are in danger from. Well, surely this proves that women need protection! It's also assumed that men are after something when protecting women. No, we're not. I will always walk on the side of the pavement nearest the road when walking down the street, so that i would be hit by a car, and not the woman. I couldn't care less if the woman is 18 or 80, attractive or ugly, I'll still do it just the same. This sort of thing isn't learned, i would say. The men I have been brought up around haven't always been good to their women. I believe it's instinctual, and should be embraced that men can put their lives on the line when necessary.

    I'm not too sure that it'll make a difference, but I'm 16.

What are your views, people, what do you think is acceptable in contemporary society? Are men protecting women doing it simply to reinforce patriarchy, or are there other motives?

    Thank you for your time,

    Alex

  • How to help this girl?

Okay, so I've been talking to this girl for the past few days now, and i have come to find out she has very little self confidence due to family members dying and her feeling like she's being punished for it. She hasn't ever met her father and her mother died when she was 7, so she then moved in with her grandmother who died when she was 12. For her, this translates to a belief that she isn't beautiful( she really is) and a belief that she is beyond repair. When she told me that she thought she is unattractive, it honestly made my eyes well up, as they are doing now just writing about it. That isn't a normal thing for me to do by the way, as i cry about once every year or so for whatever the reason is at the time. But the thought that she finds herself unattractive really makes me sad. What i want to know, is how do i help her feel better about herself and try to help her. She isn't my girlfriend, but that matters little to me, i care for her regardless. Anyone have ideas on how to make her feel better, more confident in herself? P.s. as well as being a beautiful girl, she's also very intelligent, which somehow makes it worse because the problem is more complex i guess. As a result of my worry, i am also getting very little sleep 4-5 hours at best. Thanks for your help yahoo boys and girls, i look forward to hearing from you.

  • How to make a gun quieter without a suppressor?

I'm not talking about something detachable like a suppressor, what I mean is is there any way to change a pistols design to make it quieter if you are designing the weapon from the ground up, such as a certain type of barrel, the way the gun is configured etc. Thanks in advance for any answers.

  • Bullet Calibers question?

I am a bit confused about bullet calibers. For instance there is the ak-47 with 7.62mm rounds and 5.56 NATO rounds, which i get (they are just a slightly different size) but then you get .50 calibre rounds, which is where i get confused. are the sizes different measurements(size of bullet, length of bullet) and if so what do they mean?

    thanks
