I'm a independent, and am sick of party politics. I hate being thrown in a group and then judged because of the group i'm in. I am a skeptic, a rationalist, AND a Christian, which seems like a strange combination... but it makes sense to me :) I love life and living it... i wish everyone could get over there differences and if nothing else be civil, but odds are that isn't happening. Anyways, love ya guys.

  • Global Warming Statistics (see details)?

Hi guys, I'm just wondering if anyone can give me some websites with statistics regarding ages of people who do and don't accept Global Warming as facts through polling and whatever.

    for example:

    1-20 year olds, 50% do 50% dont.

    21-10000000000000 year olds 120% do 121% dont

(not actual statistics, but you get the point hopefully)

    Thank you very much!

Please note this is not a question regarding validity of Global Warming, so please don't give any answers about it being real or fake.

Also note, I tried looking on google but it seems that anything with the words "global warming statistics" in it will bring a torrential downpour of "facts" for and against it... it's somewhat annoying.

  • Do liberals no longer know how to make a REAL argument?

It seems to me that liberals nowadays don't actually use logic to debate, instead they resort to chanting, loud noises, ignoring reason, violence, and just about anything but facts. I mean... it's getting ridiculous.

If you are a liberal and can make a real argument without just shouting, calling me "stupid" or whatever, more power to you.

  • Anyone else appreciate Bush more now that he's out of office?

I feel like we kinda took him a little bit for granted and he got way too much flack for being a "hillbilly," when really he carried himself with great dignity and insane character. Not only that, but he was also super humble, and gracious too.

The more I look back, the more I realize his policies were actually pretty good. I liked him when he was President, and wasn't a BushBasher, but I don't think I really appreciated what he did.

  • Have you ever clicked...?

The discover button (right beside answer)? It frightens me. I feel like if i click it something special or wonderful will happen, like all the questions of the universe will be answered. I'm not sure if I'm ready for that.

Someone experienced in this area, please help!!!!

  • How can we definitively say when life begins?

Ok... so i've been thinking about abortion and christian viewpoints and atheistic viewpoints, so i tried to take the middle ground and look at it objectively without being influenced by my worldview. (note that this is concerning times when the mother's life isn't in danger, and when it's not a rape victim, because those are HUGE topics... as is this... but anyways)

I believe that we all think murder is wrong. I also firmly believe we don't KNOW when live begins or when it doesn't begin.

So along these lines, no matter if you are christian or atheist, since we can't definitively say when life begins, it would be best to err on the side of inerrency. Eliminating abortion would therefore make it so that there is no CHANCE we're committing murder, something that is outlawed in every state, and in most of the world.

My belief that we don't know when life begins comes from these facts:

    a. because of genetics, we could take a bunch of fetuses and lay them together, then test them, and we'd know which species they belong to. SO since we could definitively tell that that baby IS human, no matter HOW it looks, then we can't say it's alive or not.

I'd say that atheists should be MORE against abortion than christians, and here's why: Christians believe that we have a soul. The soul is what defines us, makes us live. SO we don't know if you have a soul before birth. But Atheists don't believe that we have a soul (most, at least), therefore, since something is human, they should be against it being killed.

Interesting thought at least... let me know what you think ;)

  • My computer is freezing up while playing games.?

I think it may have something to do with my drivers, which haven't been updated in a while, but every time i try to update them through acer (my laptop is an acer aspire 7720) the files I download are corrupt or missing key files. It must be a problem with my display drivers or something, but i cannot seem to do anything to fix it. Could it possibly be a problem related to my display settings? If more information is needed i can get it (specs, type of crash, etc.)

  • Who really cares about the answer limit?

I know why yahoo has an answer limit... but does anyone really care if someone else has some program answer a million questions giving them tons of points? Honestly, why does it matter? I guess some people really take stuff like this seriously eh?
