  • I ve been working as a teaching assistant since September and on a daily basis I teach a group of 15, 4-5 yr olds a 45 minute lesson.?

Basically as this is new to me I m struggling with managing the behaviour of these children s. Some have short attention spans and can t sit still or stay focused. I try to take a group of about 7 and teach them whilst the others are either paining numbers or doing a topic related puzzle but they still try to wonder off so I can t concentrate on the 7 I m trying to teach. Any advice would be great.

  • teaching assistant interview question help.?

I have an interview Wednesday and I've been practicing answering some standard questions. The main one I struggle with is... tell me about a time when something went wrong and what did you do.

I can't think of a situation to use. I'd be grateful to hear of any answers you gave to help point me in the right direction. This is for a early ears post. Thank you

  • confused by pro rata pay scales. Can anyone please help.?

I do not understand how the job advertisement i wish to apply for has worked out the actual pay. Please help.

Pay is £12337 per annum pro rata.

The pay given is for full time workers.

The job advertised is for 38 weeks of the year and for 15 hours a week.

They state the actual pay is £5000.

I calculated this as £12337 divided by 52 weeks, multiplied by 38 weeks = £9015

This figure is then divided by 40 hours and multiplied by 15 hours = £3380.

    Where am i going wrong?

  • Why wont my 2.5 year old go to bed?

Usually max goes to bed at about 7. 30 and wakes between 7 and 8am. He doesnt always gi straight to sleep but by 8.15 he is usually asleep. The last 3 nights he has gone up to bed 7.30 to 8pm and by 9 he is still awake saying he isnt tired. Im up and down stairs as he thinks of every excuse to get me into his room. The next day he is tired and as he doesn't nap in the day its tough. Is this behaviour usual at this age?

  • trying to improve sons confidence and failing?

Max is 2and a half and has an older brother who is quite shy i believe i made mistakes with him and didnt want max to be the same.

I enroled him in soccer tots and he is on class 3. i thought he would get better each weeks but its getting worse.

class 1 he joined in but was shy. class 2 he joined in but got upset 5mins before the end so he came out.

today he didnt join in and after 5 mins he got upset and i had to go in and encourage him to participate but it was a case of him holding my hand and hugging my leg. Not sure if i should continue or not.

i should mention he goes to nursery 2 days and is with me and his nan on the other days.#

Any suggestions or advice is welcome x

  • advice on dealing with my kids without shouting and losing my cool?

my boys are almost 2 and almost 4. Recently i feel like im always nagging or shouting at them and i dont want to deal with them this way anymore i dont like it.

For example today my youngest was having is nappy changed and he was rolling around and kicking me. it was a poo and going everywhere so i shouted at him. How else could i deal with this to make it easier? I tried to distract with singing a toy and talking but it made no difference?

My eldest i usually lose it when he keep on and on asking the same questions over and over again but never listens to my reply and this same topic can go on for 20 mins and i just end up telling him to stop asking why and what and just play and have some fun. Help im losing my mind here

  • my 21 month old cries for my attention all the time...?

...he does it to the point of saying to me "max crying" and pointing to his eyes! So i know they arnt real tears.

Until he started telling me he was crying i just assumed he was ill or teething etc so would hold him and comfort him but now i know he is playing me im not sure how to deal with it,

Do i ignore it and praise good behaviour or give in and pick him up?

  • do you feel your spending enough quality time with your kids?

this is one of those things i feel guilty about. i work 3 days so have 4 days with my two boys 1 and 3.

I do spend quality time with them both together and on there own but there is always washing ironing moppin and other chores to do. sometimes i feel like i push them away to do these things. do any other moms feel this way?

I work mon and tue so only have limited time with them.

wed and thu i usually go to the park with my youngest whilst his brothers at school then we do stuff together in the afternoons inbetween housework/cooking etc.

i work fridays and then the weekend me and my husband juggle the kids and stuff round the house and try to at least go for a walk or something all together.
