Is the boys' name Mac a nickname?
My partner really loves this name for our son. I hated it at first, but it's grown on me a bit, so I think I could tolerate it. However, it sounds a bit like a nickname to me. I don't really like when a nickname is used for a full first/middle name (i.e., Allie instead of Alison, Alyssa, etc. or Sam instead of Samuel.) So I wanted to get some opinions! Is it just a nickname or have you heard of this being anyone's full first name?
BQ: If it was a nickname, what was the full first name of this person? (I really only care about boys' names.)
13 AnswersBaby Names8 years agoWould my son still be "the third"?
I are going to name my first son after his father and grandfather.
My husband's name is Ryan Allen Hislastname II and his father is Ryan Allen Hislastname I.
The issue is that my husband and I are going to hyphenate our children's names. So our son would be Ryan Allen Mylastname-Hislastname. Even though our son will have my last name too, will he still be Ryan Allen III?
Any input would be most helpful! Thanks.

41 AnswersBaby Names10 years agoMiddle name for baby girl Arden?
I've recently fallen in love with the name Arden. I want my daughter to have the same initials as my mom (AL) so I was wondering if anyone could suggest middle names that begin with L that go well with Arden. I like Arden Lydia, but I'm not totally sure. Any suggestions would be most appreciated.
BQ1: What's your opinion on the name Arden?
BQ2: What do you think of the name Layla Esme?
8 AnswersBaby Names10 years agobaby girl name challenge! help?
I've been thinking a lot about names lately and what I would name my child. I have my favorite boy name picked out, but not one for a girl. I like a lot of girl names, but I haven't really fallen in love with one. I switch back and forth a lot with preferences, please help me find the perfect name in case my first child is a girl?!
I want something unique, but not trashy or made up. Something kind of foreign/exotic, but not impossible to spell/pronounce. I also want it to sound feminine and "pretty". Some similar names I like (but am not completely sold on) are:
Esme
Isadora
Allegra
Arden
Oriana
I'd also like it to fit with the middle name Amy, so _____ Amy (last name). I would even go for having her first name be Amy and calling her by her middle (since my mom's name is Amy). So Amy ______ (last name) would work too!
Thanks!
3 AnswersBaby Names10 years agoDoes it help to have a sibling the same race as you?
I've been thinking a lot lately about transracial adoptions/families. I've always wanted to adopt, though I don't know yet whether it will be domestically or internationally. Regardless of the country, if I do decide to adopt a child of another race though, do you think it would be beneficial to the adopted child if I adopted another child of their race, too (example: adopting twins, a sibling group, or returning to the home country to adopt again)? --given, of course, that I someday have the resources to do so--I know that being a totally separate race from all of your family can be challenging. Do you think this would give them someone to relate to and adjust better?
Let me know your thoughts/opinions on this, and whether you are an adoptee, adoptive parent, or someone who is considering adoption too. I'd also be curious to know if you personally know any situations like this.

And will I know if they try to call me? And can I answer?
I know if I call them, it says they are not taking calls or something along those lines. But if they call me, what happens?
2 AnswersCell Phones & Plans10 years agohelp me name 4 children!?
Help me name 4 children (2 boys, 2 girls) ??
One child of each gender must have a name honoring Side A, and one child of each gender must have a name honoring Side B. I would like both male and female names from both sides of my family to be used. You may use variations/different spellings of any of Side A & B names listed.
(Male) Side A: Guy, Lester, Adams, Thomas, John, Andrew, Maurice, Lorenzo, Lewis, Calvin, Wellington
(Male) Side B: William, Jackson, Raymond, Frederick, Ernst, Samuel, Robert, Edward
(Female) Side A: Elizabeth, Ann, Laura, Emma, Amelia, Ella, Annie, Anna, Lydia, Sarah, Mary
(Female) Side B: Marian, Grace, Rebecca, Jane, Mary Ann, Melosina, Zena, Genevieve, Caroline
Boy 1: must begin with Maxon
Boy 2: must begin with Julian
Girl 1: must begin with Layla
Girl 2: must have Amelia, Amy, or Louise somehow incorporated (after my mom)
Please be creative with variations & combinations! Thanks <3
