I grew up the orphan son of a third generation Caribbean yak herder. Had I not become best friends with a wealthy landowner's son, I would have languished on the Caribbean beaches looking for new pastures for the yaks. However, this story has a happy ending. I got an Ivy League college education and made a fortune when the government sent me 1.7 billion dollars to bail out the dental floss manufacturing plant that I owned. Life is good!
What has Mr. Khizr Khan sacrificed for this country?
Khizr Kahn's son sacrificed his own life for which he should be honored.
But I don't know what Khizr Kahn has sacrificed.
I don't know of anything Trump has sacrificed anything for this country either.
3 AnswersPolitics5 years agoDoes anyone have a link to some conclusive data on Global Warming?
I don't want discussion. Just data from monitoring the 200 million square miles of the earth's surface over a reasonable period of time like 100 years or so. I know the winters are warmer where I live but that's not exactly a global trend.
12 AnswersGlobal Warming7 years agoIf the Republicans are "holding the government hostage", are you in favor of paying the ransom?
I just got an email telling me this. Anyway it is an interesting concept. If Washington politicians were hostages, would you want to pay their ransom?
9 AnswersPolitics8 years agoWhich is the biggest whopper of a lie? Gore invented the internet or BHO saved the auto industry?
Yes, I know Gore never said exactly that and that's part of why it is such an over the top statement.
On the other hand I suppose we would all be driving ox carts if it weren't for BHO. There would be no cars made anywhere in the world if not for him. A bit over the top, too but our president did say that.
1 AnswerPolitics9 years agoHow much money does a politician need to have before they can have a good idea?
I just watched only 2 candidates on a question and answer "debate". Obviusly the other candidates do not have any good ideas whatsoever. If they had a lot more money to spend on TV would their ideas have been worth of being discussed?
1 AnswerPolitics9 years agoIf Obama is the answer, then what is the question?
21 AnswersPolitics9 years agoHas anyone outside New Mexico heard of Gary Johnson?
I happened to see an internet article about Gary Johnson, the Libertarian candidate. He's taking time off from his campaign to do a 100 mile mountain bike race. Kind of interesting from a personal standpoint.
I obviously can't depend on the national media for info. They only cover where the money goes. What else do you Y/A folks know about him?
6 AnswersPolitics9 years agoHow's that Homeland Defense thing going? Are we any safer?
I find the idea of bureaucrats protecting us a little far fetched.
What have we gotten for our $360 billion?
That's about $1,200 for every man, woman and child in the country.
I hope I am wrong about HLD. Come on. Help me see the positive on this issue.
3 AnswersPolitics9 years agoWhat will the Feds require citizens to buy next?
A solar panel
A Chevy Volt
General electric stock
Or if conservatives win the next election
A gun
Government bonds
Wall Street Bank stock
Now that the commerce clause applies to your wallet, the sky is the limit. This new found Federal pocketbook power is not going to help you or me but will make certain select companies richer for sure.
14 AnswersPolitics9 years agoSuperPAC CREDO says TEA Party extremists have dominated Congress. Has anyone seen any signs of this?
Who in Congress is a right wing extremist?
What has Congress ever done except muddle along and pass bills that put money in the pockets of big corporations, big unions and big banks?
Have they been doing this right wing conservatiove extremist stuff in secret?
4 AnswersPolitics9 years agoSo Obama is the best Democrat and Romney is the best Republican. What does that tell us?
Really? These two are the best? It would make me feel much better if someone could say something positive about selecting these two guys out of millions of citizens.
13 AnswersPolitics9 years ago"Forcing Ideas on Others" What does this phrase mean to you?
i have read this phrase many times on Y/A answers. Certainly you can force submission. You can intimidate to require compliance. You can lie and mislead but none of these actions can "force" an idea into someone's head.
So what exactly is "forcing ideas on others"? Surely it is more than just someone stating their beliefs.
10 AnswersPolitics9 years agoIf the Federal Reserve keeps creating money out of the air, will we have an air shortage?
If they actually printed it, would we have a paper shortage, too? The largest circulated currency is the $100 bill. How tall is a trillion dollars in hundreds?
6 AnswersPolitics9 years agoWhat do you know about the ecomonic mess in Europe?
I just found a link that explains it all in less than 3 minutes. Entertaining but scary to think about.
4 AnswersPolitics9 years agoWhat basis do politicians use to make decisions?
J Paul Guyer wrote a 20 page article on state and federal policy making. He said,"Do not waste time trying to influence public policy makers with logical arguments.".
(My comment) OK. So loose the cause and effect argument. Deep 6 the logic and good of mankind stuff.
He continued to say, "Instead, . . . facilitate ... re-election, re-appointment or election/appointment to a higher office."
This explains a lot to me. As much as I cringe when I write this. I think he is right.
What's your opinion?
4 AnswersPolitics10 years agoWhat's up with the "Neutral Zone" Infraction penalty?
I was really interested in the Army/Navy game until a neutral zone infraction or its college rules equivalent was called at the end. Why was this seemingly stupid rule added?
Neutral zone? What is this Star Trek?
What's wrong with the old offsides rule? And how can a defensive player cause an offensive player to move. I guarantee you that Lombardi's Packers, Shula's Dolphins or Laundry's Cowboys did not flinch when the defense jumped at them.
Do I need to update my attitude? Is anyone else irritated by this and other new rules?
2 AnswersFootball (American)10 years agoWill the election in Egypt be held in November?
An election was scheduled in September. Then Mubarak was overthrown but we were assured that the election would be held as planned. In September the election was put off until October. Now October is gone and the election is scheduled for the end of the month.
What's really going on?
I go an interesting answer 5 months ago when i asked this question. (See link)
I hope to get more insightful answers.
3 AnswersElections10 years agoIs there a penalty for violating the Constitution? If not, then can it just be ignored?
It's my understanding that the Constitution is supposed to be the basis for the Rule of Law in the USA. I am not aware that the Constitution has any penalty clauses.
This appears to have become a problem since past elected leaders who swore to uphold the Constitution haven't been serious about that. Does this appear to be a problem to you? Am i missing something?
10 AnswersPolitics10 years agoIs the news media telling us that they have nothing bad on Cain from this century?
What all this recent fascination with the 1990's?
Who was president back then anyway?
Are we going to relive the 1990's stories about improprieties in the White House?
