What should I wear for a marathon?
I'm running the NY Marathon in November this year. I'm wondering what I should wear... So far I'm thinking:
- Leggings (I live in Lululemon leggings, and I run in them too. However, should I try compression leggings, like the Nikes ones?)
- Second Skin compression tank top
- New Balance Ultra Light Windbreaker
- Baseball cap (but one that's meant to workout in)
- Hoka running shoes
Am I missing anything?! Would love for seasoned marathoners to help this newbie out! I ran a half marathon in L.A. a couple months ago, so I have no idea what to expect with the weather in NY... thanks a bunch.
3 AnswersRunning3 years agoWhen will Accutane start to clear up my dark spots?
I've been on Accutane since about February, and it's working like a charm-- I can't remember the last time I had a blemish and my skin is ridiculously smooth. However, I'm really frustrated because my dark spots aren't going away. I have slightly dark skin (I'm half Filipino), so my dermatologist always tells me it's a lot more noticeable on us with dark skin, but this is getting annoying. I'm sick of having perfectly clear skin but having to wear coverup just on these pesky dark spots. Any idea when they will go away, or any other methods to try? I'm supposed to finish Accutane by the end of August.

High school graduation is coming up, and I really want to get my boyfriend something special. He's been my high school sweetheart for all four years, and he means so much to me and my high school experience. I love him dearly, and I would love to get him something memorable. Any ideas?
4 AnswersSingles & Dating3 years agoTips for waking up early on school mornings?
I've never had this issue before, but I'm blaming it on senioritis... I have developed a horrible morning routine on school days. I try to get up at 6:15 in order to get ready and leave by 7:15, but lately I've been waking up more at 6:50, and I spend my morning before I leave my house rushing around and stressing out over being late. Then, I show up to school and I'm discombobulated and just plain exhausted. On the days where I have a free choice first hour (twice a week), I can easily get up at 7 and be bright eyed and bushy tailed. I just don't get it... I never used to have this issue, and I haven't even changed my sleeping habits. Does anyone have tips for waking up on time? Also, I've always set an alarm for 5:00 in the morning, just because I like to wake up and be relieved that I still have over an hour left of sleep time (I know that sounds a bit strange, but I know I'm not the only one that does that)... could that be what's making it to difficult for me to get up on time?
2 AnswersOther - General Health Care3 years agoHow to lose weight?
I'm kind of confused, and I just want someone to real talk help me out here. I weight 105 pounds, and I'm 5'1". Totally normal and healthy, but I REALLY want to slim down my thighs. I've very active- spin class twice a week, reform pilates three times a week, ballet class four times a week, and I try (key word being 'try') to run three to five miles once a week. My daily diet (and this is truly very consistent- I'm a really picky eater, so I stick to foods that I know I like) consists of:
Morning- two cups of chamomile tea and a spoon of honey, one slice of freshly ground peanut butter
Lunch- half of a turkey pita wrap with cucumbers, red bell peppers, and a table spoon of Thousand Island dressing spread on it OR a tuna sandwich with lettuce and whole wheat bread
Snacks: (vary depending on the day) trail mix with almonds, pistachios, cashews, and bits of dark chocolate OR hummus and carrots OR an apple with freshly ground peanut butter
Dinner- (varies, depending on what my parents make, so I just put some very common dishes) my family likes to eat fish like tilapia or salmon or golden pompano with white rice and Chinese broccoli, chicken breast with couscous and green beans, angel hair pasta with tomato sauce and a side salad with lettuce, tomato, cucumber, and olive oil and vinaigrette, and garlic bread
*water included*
I'll admit... I do have cheat days, every two weeks. My go to cheat? Pepsi. I don't know why.. but yeah, I do have a cheat day every two weeks, on the dot.

Tomorrow I'm getting my eyebrows tinted for the first time! I'm super nervous. I have really dark hair, like almost black, and I'm nervous that they'll turn out looking insanely dark...
1 AnswerMakeup3 years agoI Can't Stop Butting Heads With My Dad?
I don't fight with my parents, typically. We all get along, I'm very close with my family. BUT, I'm a senior currently applying to college and figuring out what I want to do with my life. A few days ago I went out to brunch with my dad and naturally, we started talking about my future. I know exactly what college I'm going to (go BC Eagles!), but I'm currently choosing between two majors, one of them being hospitality business with a focus on event planning. When I told him this, he immediately went off on me. He said things like "going to a selective college like the one you got into and studying event planning is a shame!" and "that's not at all a fulfilling job!" and "you sounds like a spoiled f****** brat, saying you want to study event planning!" I was in Student Congress all four years of high school, and at my school, stu co plans all of the events. During the little phases where I hated school, student congress was the only thing that got me going, just knowing that I could make it to that class and work in my committee to coordinate these large scale, amazing events for my school. I absolutely love it, and I strive in that class, too. I've finally found something that I genuinely love, and I get yelled at. My dad is social justice lawyer, and he's pretty stuck up about it. He goes "at least I help people for a living! event planners don't do s***" I didn't even say that I was for sure going to study it, I just wanted to take some classes on it. Any advice is great.
6 AnswersHigher Education (University +)3 years agoShould I get a cartilage piercing?
I've always been more into timeless (for lack of a better word) style. I have my standard, single ear piercings. But lately I've been kind of wanting to try something new, but still simple. What's your opinion of cartilage piercings, and where should I get it if I decide to get one? (mid-cartilage, high cartilage)

9 AnswersFashion & Accessories3 years ago18th Birthday Gift?
My eighteenth birthday is coming up in December, and my mom and dad want to get me a meaningful, "milestone gift," as they like to call it. I trust my mom's taste, especially in jewelry, so I asked her to give me a couple options.
In no particular order...
The first one: https://www.meandrojewelry.com/products/e6138-18k-...
The second one: http://www.tiffany.com/jewelry/necklaces-pendants/...
I think that both of them are absolutely stunning and very timeless. You can never go wrong with pretty, delicate earrings. Likewise, you can never go wrong with a classic, dainty diamond station necklace. I know I'd be able to wear the earrings everyday. Also, my mom has a very similar necklace by Elsa Peretti, and she wears it basically everyday, so I know I'd get a lot of wear out of the necklace as well. Feedback from others would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

2 AnswersFashion & Accessories3 years agoDiamond Station Necklace?
Hi, all! For my 18th birthday/Christmas gift soon, I've just been told by my parents that they're planning on getting me a diamond station necklace (definitely look up a picture of one if you're not sure what they are, but I'm sure you've seen them being worn before)! I'm very excited, because I think that they're incredibly timeless and elegant, but I'm very stuck on whether I should get it in sterling silver or gold. My mom said that I can't go wrong with either, which is true. For reference, I have medium skin, so I feel like the gold blended a tad bit more when I tried them on, and the sterling silver stood out. I do have a very pretty pair of delicate gold stud earrings that I wear constantly, gifted to me for my 17th birthday last year. I would absolutely wear the diamond necklace as an everyday piece, so would it clash with the gold earrings if I got the necklace in sterling silver? These are the things I need to think about, I guess! I'm super torn!
1 AnswerFashion & Accessories3 years agoShould I get my makeup done for a wedding if I'm a guest?
This weekend, my cousin is getting married. I'm not exactly in the wedding, but we're Filipino, so there's a lot of traditions involved in the ceremony. With that being said, I'm going to be getting up in front of everyone for the cord and veil tradition portion (again, it's a Filipino thing...) I know I'll be in a decent amount of the professional photos, too. I'm already getting my hair blown out, because I have very curly and frizzy hair, but I'm super on the fence about getting my makeup done. I'm not sure if it's worth it, having to schedule another appointment into a tight schedule, let alone pay more money for it. I'm pretty good at makeup, but mine just never lasts as long as when I get it professionally done. Any help is greatly appreciated!
12 AnswersWeddings3 years agoI feel like my boyfriend s mom has something against me?
My boyfriend (18) and I (18) are seniors in high school and have been dating for three and a half years. I've known his family since we started dating, and I'm on good terms with his siblings and his dad, but for some reason I always feel like I'm on his mom's bad side. As of recently, I've started to get very annoyed with it. During football season, on Friday nights after games, my boyfriend goes to team dinners with his entire team at the coach's house. His curfew on these nights is 2 am. Meanwhile, he'll come over to my house, and his curfew is midnight... if we're lucky. His mom never says hi to me when she sees me at his games, she never asks me about my life or how I'm doing when I go to his house. She makes me feel very awkward and out of place. Sometimes when I eat dinner with them, I feel like she intentionally tries to make me feel uncomfortable. She'll start a conversation about football, or something else that I don't really have a say in, like a past family vacation. Then, she'll go "Oh... You're so quiet..." with this eyebrow-raised look on her face. I'm just not sure what to do about it anymore. The curfew thing is what gets me the most. Any advice would be appreciated!
3 AnswersSingles & Dating4 years agoPersonal Gift to Give to Boyfriend?
My boyfriend and I are high school sweethearts and we're seniors. In May, we'll be celebrating our 4th anniversary. It's very special because we're graduating this June, and overall it's just a big time in life. Since we're very serious and plan on making it work in college, I want to get him a really special gift. I know he's getting me something big (something from Tiffany & Co... that's all he's told me). I already got him a beautiful watch and it's currently getting engraved with a nice quote that we love. However, after his state championship football game this fall, he gave me his state ring for my birthday/Christmas present. This was incredibly meaningful, because even as freshmen I can recall him talking endlessly about how he wanted to be a state champ by his senior year. I have a ring that I got as a gift from my parents for Christmas in my freshman year, and I used to wear it constantly. It's a pretty sterling silver ring from Tiffany, and although I don't wear it often anymore, it means a lot to me. I was thinking of doing this; giving him the watch for our anniversary and then giving him my ring and another small gift for his birthday in July. Does this plan sound good? I know this might sound ridiculous, but what can I say? I'm a girl- I overthink everything! Thanks, all.
1 AnswerSingles & Dating4 years agoCan I lose weight from spin classes?
Hi all! For the past 2 weeks I have taken up spin classes at my local Pure Ryde cycling studio. I love it! However, I initially took it up in order to slim down a bit for prom in May. I have been taking about 2 classes per week, each 45 minutes to an hour in length. If you're not familiar with Pure Ryde's bikes, definitely look them up- they're stationary, but much different from other stationary bikes. Anyways, is spinning and efficient way to slim down (specifically my leg/thigh area) in time for prom in mid May? Thanks!
2 AnswersDiet & Fitness4 years agoShould I Quit Competitive Dance?
I go to dance on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. I was thinking of only quitting Tuesdays, though. My Tuesday classes in specific make me miserable to the pointe where I feel like crying the entire day, just knowing I have dance after school. I don't like the teacher, and I'm there from 5-9:30 on Tuesdays, making them my longest days. I hardly have time for homework on Tuesdays, either. I really don't know what to do. Tuesday classes have caused me so much anxiety, I've gotten sick before. It's just the stress of homework and having the dance teacher that I really dislike for so long. I'm just scared because competition season starts in mid March, so I need to make my decision ASAP. I nervous everyone will hate me, and I'm so stressed out about this.
4 AnswersDancing4 years agoCommunity Service Project?
I'm currently a junior in high school, and I'm very passionate about community service (as odd as that sounds). My position in student congress is Advisor of Community Service, which means that I advise others in community service opportunities and work with my school's CSO to organize service events. Recently, I heard about the AnnPOWER program. I read about all of these girls my age who started community service projects and programs, and I'm very interested and inspired. I just don't know where to begin and, most importantly, what my community service project should be about.
1 AnswerCommunity Service4 years agoChristmas Gift for Boyfriend?
We're in high school, so we usually tend to go for smaller gifts, btw! My boyfriend is an athlete, and he does football and wrestling. So far I've gotten him Epsom Salt and a $30 gift card for gas. I'm thinking of getting him one other thing, but I have no idea what. He loves sports, NFL, and music. He also just started wrestling season again, but I'm sure he already has everything he needs when it comes to sports equipment and whatnot. Any ideas?! Thanks!
3 AnswersChristmas4 years agoShould I Open My Birthday Present Early?
My birthday is on Friday, December 9th. This weekend, December 2-4, I was in NYC with my family. My parents surprised me and bought me my birthday present at Tiffany's in New York. Being a Tiffany fanatic, I already knew exactly what I wanted, so my gift isn't a surprise at all. However, I will actually be on a school trip from Thursday morning to Saturday morning, and therefore unable to spend my birthday at home with my family. Should I open my gift before I leave for my trip on Wednesday night or Saturday evening, before my friends come over to celebrate with me? I almost feel like opening it up on Saturday, when it's a bit more festive and there's a cake and whatnot. I just wanted opinions! :) Thanks!
