"Religion is a cow. It gives milk, but it also kicks." — Buddha "Notice that the stiffest tree is most easily cracked, while the bamboo or willow survives by bending with the wind." - Bruce Lee "If you have no confidence in self, you are twice defeated in the race of life. With confidence, you have won before you have started." -Marcus Garvey “Throughout history, it has been the inaction of those who could have acted; the indifference of those who should have known better; the silence of the voice of justice when it mattered most; that has made it possible for evil to triumph.” - Haile Selassie "Emancipate yourself from mental slavery, none but ourselves can free our mind..." - Bob Marley "Government is not reason, it is not eloquence, it is force; like fire, a troublesome servant and a fearful master. Never for a moment should it be left to irresponsible action." -George Washington
Is Jesus really Satan?
First let us acknowledge the fact that the Messiah is a Jewish ideology. All Christians will agree that the Christian god is also the god of Abraham and the god of the Jews. In fact they must claim this since the New Testament's is built on the foundation, which is the Jewish Scriptures.
But what if Christianity, the following of Jesus, was actually the doctrine of the devil?
Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6)
Now would Satan, if he created a book in an attempt to create a following, portray himself as "the truth?" After all he is the master of deception, right? If the Jewish faith has the one true God, wouldn't it make sense that the devil would attempt to stamp them out? As a matter of fact the NT is very anti-Jew. 42 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoAre religious beliefs psychological opiates?
Opiate - anything that causes dullness or inaction or that soothes the feelings. (dictionary.com)
(Example)
"Many Christian fundamentalists feel that concern for the future of our planet is irrelevant, because it has no future. They believe we are living in the End Time, when the son of God will return, the righteous will enter heaven, and sinners will be condemned to eternal hellfire. They may also believe, along with millions of other Christian fundamentalists, that environmental destruction is not only to be disregarded but actually welcomed -- even hastened -- as a sign of the coming Apocalypse." - (http://www.grist.org/news/maindish/2004/10/27/sche...
3 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoShould Cheney care what the public thinks?
In an interview Wednesday, Cheney, one of the key architects of the war, said US strategy in Iraq must not be "blown off course."
Queried on ABC television about polls showing that about two-thirds of Americans believe that the war was not worth fighting, Cheney's first response was "So?"
Asked whether he cared what the US public thought, Cheney replied: "No, I think you cannot be blown off course by the fluctuations in the public opinion polls."

30 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhat are some of the methods used that prove the earth is older than 6000 years old?
Besides potassium argon dating?
One example: I was watching Discovery and they were analyzing glaciers. They were able to date the glaciers by certain "notches" that showed the warming and cooling of that particular region on an annual bases. By studying these notches they could calcalate that the glaciers were much older than 6,000 years old.

1 AnswerHome Theater1 decade agoWhy does Matthew try to misinform and arrange a bogus prophecy about Jesus?
If we look at Matthew, Chapter 2 verse 13-15, Matthew states that baby Jesus had to be taken to Egypt to escape being killed and to wait until the death of Herod.
"And so was fulfilled the Lord has said through the prophet: "Out of Egypt I called my son."
Matthew tries to suggest that this is a prophecy spoken about in the Old Testament, but he is pulling a fast one. He doesn't quote the whole verse, why? For those who have a study bible, there will be a footnote that says Matthew was referring to Hosea, Chapter 11 verse 1.
Let us look at that passage. "When Israel was a child, then I loved him, and out of Egypt I called my son."
Hosea is not talking about Jesus at all, but Israel and is referring to the Exodus. Matthew clearly takes this verse out of context.

20 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWas Jesus mentally ill or did his mother and his family forget about the miracle birth?
According to the Gospel of Mark (Mark 3:19-21, 31), during the period when Jesus was preaching, Mary and his brothers believed that he was mentally ill, or "out of his mind" as per the KJV. The Gospel of John comments that "neither did his brothers believe in him" (John 7:5). Jesus, in turn, rejected them (Mark 3:31-35, Matthew 12:46-50, Luke 8:19-21).
Apparently, Mary, the mother of Jesus, forgot the visits of angels, magi, and shepherds. The prophecies of Anna and Simeon completely slipped her mind. Most of all Mary seems to have forgotten her own impregnation by the Holy Spirit.
