How can you love your enemies by killing them?
Jesus commands us to love our enemies. How do you fit this in to your theology on war, or capital punishment? Many people quote the old testament to justify this, but Jesus says to love your enemies. This is obviously God's ideal because if you've seen the Son you have seen the Father after all.
7 AnswersReligion & Spirituality10 years agoAs pro-life Christians, how can you ever be for war or the death penalty?
Most conservative Christians are pro-life on abortion, but have supported individuals who were for the war in Iraq and are for the death penalty. Explain this?
16 AnswersReligion & Spirituality10 years agoIf we are a Christian nation, how are we doing on the whole love your enemies thing?
When is a war justified, if ever? Could we possible be a Christian nation if our country was founded on a war where "Christians" were killing "Christians"?
14 AnswersReligion & Spirituality10 years agoHow would the world be different if...?
people never had sex out of marriage?
Better or worse on the whole?
I don't care what your view is one pre-marital sex, but how would this have changed the world?
7 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoChristians: Would you feel cheated?
Would you feel cheated if God had incorporated a way to save all people in the end? If in the end all roads lead to heaven, and eventually all people turn to Jesus after they die? If this were true, would you still be a Christian?

Would you have done the same? If you think you would have done the same, Why?
5 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoChristians: Do you pray as if God doesn't know/plan the future?
Petitionary prayer (asking God for things) only really makes sense if God doesn't have the future planned out....right? Also if this is true, why do so many people pray this way, and yet still talk about God's plan?
12 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoAtheists: Describe a God in which you would follow?
Now I understand the whole idea of god is against what you stand for, but just for the sake of argument, what would God have to be like if you were to follow him?
48 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoCould you follow a God like this?
Could you follow a God that loves you more than you can even fathom. That loves you no matter how many times you screw up. That gives you the freedom to think, experience, and make your own decisions about this world and even about God himself. A God that hasn't mapped out your whole life, but lets you make your own decisions and lets you choose to live in accordance with his will or not. A God that encourages you to follow him, but does not make you do it. A God that wants to help you through every hard time in your life, but because he gave you all of this freedom to make your own choices just can't some times. A God that sent part of himself down here to die just so you don't have to. A God that encourages you to help the poor, love your enemies, and live a morally upright life. Could you follow a God like this?
19 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWill you forgive Christians?
I was just thinking of all the atrocities that have been done in the name of Christ. The crusades, inquisition, holocaust, slavery, civil rights, denying modern science....the list goes on. I think as Christians we need to officially ask forgiveness for the mess that has been made. It goes in total opposition to true Christianity and has turned more people away from faith than any other thing. Also I want to apologize for Christians that act as though they have the moral high ground. True Christianity is about loving everyone as though they have infinite worth, because to God they do. Often times it seems as though some Christians (especially on here), act as though non-Christians should be held to the same moral standard as Christians. Of course it is silly to require non-Christians to follow Christian ideals. So what do you say will you forgive us?
6 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoIf you have a miscarriage will that child be in heaven?
As a person of faith do you think that a miscarried fetus will end up in heaven?
11 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhy do people say that Jesus never existed?
There is quite a bit of historical evidence that Jesus existed. If any other historical figure of a comparable era was corroborated with that many sources, they would be historically accepted to have existed. So why do people say this?

Now I am a Christian and I have found that questions like these irritate me, and I don't find myself loving the R&S poster that wrote it. I also find that I don't wish blessings and love into their life. This is what the Bible commands and yet I easily am not following, Jesus command when he asks this of me. It is my belief that all humans on this earth were worth Jesus dying for them, so this is how we should treat them with an infinite amount of worth. I hope that if you are a Christian you can find time tonight to pray for one of the anti-Christian posters on here. If you are a Christian what do you think about this idea? Do you think that this is an unbiblcal expectation? Let me know what you think...

30 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoChristians: What do you think about the statement you only truely believe the parts of the bible you live out?
Now I understand there are contextual and cultural discrepencies, but as far as the main teachings of Jesus..ie. Fasting, Praying, Giving to the poor, Loving your Enemies, Pride, Greed, Collecting Earthly possessions, forgiving, repentance...etc.
12 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhy do we do good things even when it goes against our evolutionary, survival of the fittest, mindset?
I am talking about giving to charities, or jumping in freezing cold water to save someone from drowning, or running into a burning building to save a person. If there is no moral ground to stand on then why do we consider these things respectable? Why is the person that does these things a 'hero'?

14 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoWhy such hatred towards Big Oil?
The oil companies produce a commodity that all of us use with an insatiable hunger. Per gallon of gas the oil companies take about 6-8 cents of profit. These companies continue to research more reserves, and produce more and more oil with the money they make.
The Government on the other hand takes about 30-40 cents a gallon as a tax. The government does nothing to put this gas in your tanks, and yet they take about 4X the profit per gallon. You see the profits of big oil, but keep in mind the government takes 4X this much.
SO, why be mad at Big Oil and not the Government?
