I am a mom of a 14 yr old teenager who i think is just about the coolest girl in the world. I have three dogs - a boxer, rot, teacup poodle - they are a ton a fun! And a BF of 10 yrs now. I know that seems crazy but it works for us. So sometimes i will refer to him as BF, or fiance, or hubby - it really doesn't matter he is my SO so call him what you want. I work as a purchasing manager, and for the most part i like my job, however i tend to get bored easily. I love to camp, drink, hang with friends, travel, read, boating, playing on the internet, solve problems, summertime!

  • working overtime for free salary exempt?

Legally working overtime for salary exempt?

My company (in ohio) is a mfg company - i am a salary exempt employee, meaning i have a specific job and i work the hours necessary to complete the job - which sometime will take somewhere around 45 hours/week - no biggie - my problem is my boss just asked me to take a shift this weekend to cover a production supervisor's (who are also salary exempt) job so they can have a day off (which is understandable). While i understand that i don't understand how the company can ask me to work for free to cover someone elses job, and also how can a production supervisor be a salary exempt and be forced to work weekends (several in a row) with no compensation. So anyone have any specific knoweledge on this?

  • FLMA for pregnancy - male not married?

Need a little help here - there is an employee - actually the bosses son, who happens to have a pregenant girlfriend. I am this employees backup when he is not here, and i just found out today that he is wanting to use FLMA for the birth - Is he entitled to FMLA if they are not married? From what i can see he is - also i know it is our companies rules that you have to use any vacation time available - if he is allowed to take it he should have to use his vacation time (which is what he want to avoid - hence he thinks he could use FLMA and still have the vacation time) but if no one else can and he is allowed - what recourse is there? So my two questions:

    1. can a male employee who is not married take flma for a pregnancy

    2. if company policy and past actions by the company require that vacation time must be used before flma time - what happens if the company waive this and allows the employee to keep vacation time?

  • How can i overcome my irrational crippling fear of bee's?

I am not the type of person that lets my fears stop me doing anything - but i have been afraid of bees all my life. I have no idea why I am so afraid of them, but when i see them it is like a switch goes off and i completely freak out. My heart starts racing and i run around like a lunatic and i just can't relax. I realize that my behavior does not help - and i have really tried hard to relax, but i can't escape the panic that i feel when i see a bee. Any suggestions on how i can get over this completely irrational fear. Any idea on why i am like this in the first place?

  • Need opinion - men and women - Thanks!!?

I am 31 yrs of age, have one child (she is 14) and have absolutely no interest in having another (it was a traumatizing experience for me since i was very young and on my own). I have been in the same relationship for 10 yrs now and BF does not plan to have children as of right now. I am tired of taking Birth Control pills and have been on them for 14 yrs now. My BF is over the top over the fear of me getting pregnant and ALWAYS wears a condom (on top of my pill) and even checks to make sure there weren't any faults in the condom. I would really like to have a normal sex life without fear of pregnancy - do you think tubal ligation is right for me?

  • Why would my Realtor do this?

So we had a realtor open house this week in the first stages of trying to sell our home. I found out from my mother in law that our realtor had her daughter (grown daughter) at this open house. Apparently the daughter work with the MIL and told her about this. Am I wrong to feel like this is totally inappropriate and unprofessional? Selling a house and letting strangers come in to look at your house is a very uncomfortable thing to begin with, but when she brings somebody that has nothing to do with my house in it, its almost like she is flaunting my house. I know that sounds ridiculous what do you think? Also her daughter told my MIL that we had bought another house, which we had not told the MIL yet (we were waiting until we closed on the house just in case something fell through) So basically we were confronted with having to tell MIL so she wouldn't feel left out. Isn't this a breach of confidentiality?

  • Sty in my eye for a month now - please help!!!?

I started getting a sty in my lower right lid a month ago. I have been using a warm compress several times a day and it still has not gone away. It did stop hurting, but there was a hard bump there for about 2 1/2 weeks, but now the lid is swelling up again and the bump is still there and the pain is back. Is this normal? What else can be done since the warm compresses aren't working?

  • Dog split his nail - infection possible?

My dog was at the vet's for the weekend (we took a weekend trip) and when we picked him up we noticed he was limping on one of his paws. Upon looking for the cause we found that he split his nail in half, it wasn't bleeding anymore but obviosly very painful for the guy! We called the vet back and took him in and all she did was cut off the piece of the nail that was hanging. It looks like there is soft material there and it is sensitive for him to walk on - how long do you think this will take to heal - should we worry about infection? He is a 2 year old boxer - very healthy active dog - he just looks so down in the dumps now that he can't play much....

  • Rolling your eyes - how bad is this really?

I am reading this book and it is basically saying that rolling your eyes is to feel contempt for that person. I do this a lot, and i now i am trying to get to the source of this. I guess i never really felt like i had contempt for that person, only what they are saying - sometimes people (even people we are close to) say ridiculous things..... What do you think

  • Problem with boss - how would you handle?

I have been having an issue with my boss for quite some time now - for the most part i get along with him great - he leaves me alone to do my job, and i work pretty indepentatly - this problem is that a large portion of doing my job well depends on have a schedule maintained and updated regurlarly which is part of my bosses job. Without it, i am kind of flying blind and making guesses. When this happens i take the risk of running out of materials or having too many on hand - both do not meet the job objectives. I have asked for my boss many times to please get the schedule updated, but the schedule is still not maintained. Recently the IT manager has brought this to the attention of the Corporate Managers as issues with systems, and while it got a little attention the problem is still not fixed. The IT manager says to me today "if your gonna get what you need you have to shake things up" My fear is that if i shake things up i will be a target for being fired, i have seen this happen with others. The IT manager feels that that simply won't happen because i am very well respected by upper management, however my relationship with my boss would deteriote quickly if i "step on his toes" What would you do???

  • Spinal tap issues - is nerve damage possible?

A Friend of mine had a spinal tap to test for MS (which they believe she has as discovered from a CT scan of the brain which show lesions, in addition to other issues) about a week ago. Since then she has been experiencing severe back pain - while the back pain itself has diminished it was replaced by reoccurring bouts of numbness and tingling in her leg and arm, as well as nerve pain shooting from her rear down her leg. I am wondering if this is possibly a result of the spinal tap or if it is more likely the MS and what would the DR. be able to do to help?

  • Long time BF - teenage daugther - HELP ME!!?

My BF of nine years is driving me crazy!! I have a daughter that is 14 - overall she is a great kid, but yes she has an attitude problem. He calls me yesterday,at work, screaming at me because of her attitude. Apparently he asked a question and she either didn't answer, or answered so he couldn't hear her (of course she is doing it on purpose just to irriate him) He truly feels that she hates him, i chalk it up to normal teenager moodiness! What do you think?
