  • Pain in the left side of my chest below my heart?

A couple days after I recovered from postviral cough that lasted 3 weeks caused by a particularly severe cold (the cough was severe to the point of pain in my diaphragm when coughing at some points), I noticed a strange dull aching pain in the left side of my chest below my heart. When standing still, it does not hurt at all, however when doing some motion that stretches out or twists the left part of my chest, the pain starts to flare up. It s not particularly severe and I ve been able to deal with it for a few days, however whatever research I ve been able to do on the internet hasn t really led me to anything conclusive.

  • AC blowing air, but air is not cold?

Its a very hot weekend where I live (temps near 100 degrees), and our AC decided to not work on us. The fan is indeed blowing and air is going through, but its not cold air like it should come through from an AC. Me and my mom have been trying to figure out what the heck the problem is, and the one thing we can see is that the compressor outside is not spinning, as in it won't spin up on its own. However, this can be caused by a bunch of things from what we've seen, and we don't know what the heck the problem is.

    Can anyone help us?

Note: Me and my mom are not HVAC enthusiasts or anything and don't know much about the specific parts and how they work with each other, so try to keep everything in layman's terms please.

  • Is it ok to have both application essays you're sending to a college about the same/similar topic?

Specifically the UC application. Both my essays pertain to computers, and my family says that it's a bad idea for both essays to be about the same thing. Is that true?

  • Question about AP tests and college...?

Next year, which will be my senior year, I'm going to be planning to take more AP classes. My question is, would it still be worth it to take the AP tests, despite already being accepted into college by the time the tests are taken? Furthermore, should I pass the tests, would I earn college credit?

  • Misspelling in other people's work annoys me a little?

To clarify, I'm a high school student. Recently, I've seen some essays from other people who are in the same grade as me(not necessarily the same school), and upon seeing some simple words such as site, guaranteed, etc. be misspelled, it annoys me somewhat. To me, I just think that them misspelling these simple words is unreasonable. I mean come on, they're in high school already, this shouldn't happen. Anyway, to get to my point, anybody know why I seem to get annoyed upon seeing these simple and easily correctable mistakes?

  • Odd quirk with my emotions...?

I've noticed that over the years, I don't really feel that much emotion, at least not as much as other people would. Mostly, it's just being somewhat glad at an accomplishment, or sadness at my own failure. But even then, it's a lot less than what most would feel. In addition, I appear to be almost always calm, as if I had emotional detachment. Sorry for my decoherent details, but could any of you guys describe what this quirk I have is known as?

  • Do you think there should be a generic answer section that people have to see before making a question for this section?

Recently, I've seen a lot of questions that ask for hacks for games, which do not exist as all of them are scams and fake, or asking for free things such as a Sims 3 code even though nobody will give them anything as it would be giving a stranger free money. I know that I'm basically saying that there shouldn't be any dumb questions in this section, but I'm just suggesting a way to prevent them by informing them prior. What do you all think about this?

  • Parents overworking me?

I'm an 11th grade high school student who is about to take his SATs in approximately 1 month. Alongside that, I have 4 AP tests to take this year in May. The problem is, I feel like my parents are pushing me a little too hard. They've locked down pretty much any source of fun in my life and expect me to study all day, and not doing anything else aside from the occasional bathroom break and mealtimes. I know that they just want the best for me but I feel that they are going a little too far. Even during the holiday season, they expect me to constantly practice for the SAT along with taking a practice test every 2 days instead of taking time off like most of the students in my class do. I'm not sure what to do...

  • Friend has life issues?

I'm currently very concerned about my friend. He's in a more or less lower middle class family. His family refuses to take him to the dentist, saying its not required, as well as apparently taking his clothing, refusing to give them back, as well as refusing to purchase more for him. He does have big dreams for the future, such as aspiring to be a veterinarian, and becoming a prominent youtuber. I try my best to encourage him to keep going and endure until he gets into college, but lately, he seems to becoming more and more depressed, as he appears to be fed up with living in his house etc. He seems to obsess over things he really wants, and begins to nitpick at the tiniest things, etc. that he didn't before he started obsessing. Note: he does have OCD.

Can you give any advice on how to help him?

  • I have a friend who has anger problems...?

Recently, at my school, one of my friends has had anger problems recently. Whenever someone pushes him over some sort of threshold, he just has an outburst of anger. Now, it's starting to get out of hand. Me and my other friends play card games at lunch, and since my friend who has anger outbursts also plays said games, our school counselor has banned us from playing the game temporarily. However, the card game had nothing to do with it. It was more of another person at the table who kept on incessantly making my friend madder and madder. Is there anything I can do to help? Note: Said incessantly annoying friend has agreed to tone down the acts that may annoy my friend.

  • Why is my mom so critical of me?

Every time i finish on my homework, even if i do good on it, she always makes me fix any problems. Say at the beginning of the school year and i dont do that good on one assignment, and it sends my grade down due to lack of dilution, she just gives me a disappointing look cause she mainly focuses on my overall grade.

  • Why is my mom so strict?

My mom tries to make me do school work all the time. I'm an A and B student at my school and taking advanced classes (IM 14). Yet, on holidays such as presidents weekend, she finds a way to make me do work when I should be getting some well-deserved relaxation. She also points out every tiny little problem in my work and makes me correct or redo my work. I know she means well but I think she's taking it a bit too far.

Note: doing this by phone so disregard any spelling errors.
