  • My dog is showing the following symptoms?

He is a golden retriever, 10 years old. He is on Tramadol for pain relief (his spinal discs are pressing on his spinal cord, we've seen a specialist and an MRI was done etc etc).I have been up with him all night, he has been trying to vomit, but nothing comes out and he makes the most horrific noises. Once, a little bit of white foam came out but otherwise nothing. He kept asking to go out but he didn't do anything out there, his stomach is very tight, like a drum, and he just seems uncomfortable. He is laying on his side and his stomach is kind of being pushed to one side. I've had a feel while he was standing up and he didn't react while I was poking him about, but like I said he is on painkillers so they may dull any pain he feels. When he went outside he lay down and started chewing on his bone, I don't know if that may have been a comfort thing. If anyone genuinely thinks I need to take him to the vet I will, I can wake up my partner and ring the emergency vet. Money isn't an issue, he is insured to the hilt, I just wondered if anyone knew what this could be?

By the way, he hasn't tried to vomit for the past hour. He's just been laying down on his side, he looks shattered from all the activity. When he was trying to vomit he was doing it roughly every five minutes for about 20 minutes, than he would have a gap of about 10 minutes.

He eats very slowly, he has dry food with boiling water added to it then it sits for five minutes as it's a food which releases a gravy when water is added. He hasn't exercised for a couple of days as he is only allowed out every now and then (vets advice) so his spine doesn't twist.

Sorry if any of this doesn't make sense, I'll stay online for the next hour or so, that way I can answer any questions anyone may have.

Thank you very much in advance for your help.

  • Can anyone tell me if there is a train pass that I can use in Italy between Naples and Pompeii?

We are off to Pompeii tomorrow very early, and after searching online for days, I still can't find any information about what type of train ticket to buy. We are flying into Naples and will be getting the train into Pompeii and staying there. However we would like to do a day trip to Naples and other areas between there and Pompeii, also would like to use the train to get to the Amalfi coast if we can, and maybe Sorrento.

So basically my question is, as we are going for a short break (5 days) is there a type of weekly ticket we can buy which would be cheaper than paying for each individual train journey or do we just have to pay for each one? And does anyone know roughly how much the train journeys are, just telling me if you know if they are reasonable prices would be great.

I appreciate any advice you can give me, thank you in advance!

  • Can anyone help me with the diagnosis of CDRM in dogs?

My Goldie is just shy of 10 years old and his back legs have been getting worse from age 7. The other day he squatted to go to the loo and fell over, I had to run over and lift him up. I took him to the vet that day and she examined him, did the knuckled over paw test (which he failed miserably, he just left it there for ages) and she said he will need an MRI scan to diagnose. However I have been reading online and everything I've read has said the only way to diagnose CDRM in a living dog is to do the paw test and rule out other problems. He has so many symptoms of CDRM, dragging his hind legs, criss crossing when turning, leaning to one side when standing, slipping over easily.

Do you think he really needs this MRI scan? The cost isn't a problem as he is fully insured but the vet said he will have to be anaesthetised for it and as he's old there is a greater risk of complications from anaesthesia. He may not even make it through the procedure. I don't want to put stress on him if it's unnecessary. He is my baby and I will do anything I possibly can to help him, but from what I have read, there isn't much that can be done anyway. I would rather the time he has left with us is a happy time.

I would just like peoples thoughts, is our vet just trying to cash in on him?

  • Can someone help me with info about Wii Dance games?

I'm thinking of getting it for my nieces as a belated xmas pressie (visiting them tomorrow) I think it's called Just Dance or something like that. My nieces are 4, 5 and 9, and the eldest two go to a dance school, do ballet, tap, modern etc so love dancing. The youngest loves dancing as well but just for fun. The questions I want to ask are would this game be ok for this age range? Their parents will be there supervising and helping with it so setting up isn't a problem, I just mean with the steps, how complicated they are. Also do you need a dance mat or can you just use the controllers? Any other info you can give me will be fantastic, thanks!!

  • Can anyone help work out what my symptoms may mean?

Female, 24 years old, currently on medication for depression, 40mg Citalopram daily.

    Losing weight

Very thirsty (especially in evenings) but not weeing as much as I think I should be considering the amount of water I drink!

Sweating more (I don't generally sweat unless I'm doing vigorous exercise but recently just sitting in one place I still sweat, mainly from my armpits)

Not being able to sleep at night- I'll lie there for ages and I literally can't switch off, can't sleep until about 3 or 4am but once I'm asleep I can sleep for more than 12 hours given the chance.

    Irritable and moody

Not hungry- have to force myself to eat

    Depression

Weariness- not tired but feel worn out a lot

Late for period but definitely not pregnant

    Dry itchy skin

I think that's it, and I only ask here as I don't want to waste my doctor's time. If I come to the conclusion from the answers I get that there is something serious wrong then obviously I will be making an appointment.

Thank you for any help you can give.

  • Can someone tell me what type of worms my chickens have?

Hi, they're not actually my chickens, they're my sisters. I haven't seen the worms but my sister has said they're long yellow things which look like strands of straw. Can anyone tell me if these are worms and what type they are? We know they need treatment, we're getting some tomorrow for them as she only noticed it in their poop today.

    Thanks!

  • How often should a couple have sex?

Ok. Asking for a friend who doesn't have internet access.

How often do you think a couple should have sex, say, per week?

She is 25 and he is 49, she is a complete nympho and he's not, so shes a bit frustrated. Please don't have a go about the age gap, they have been together for 4 years and are happy but fed up with people slagging off the relationship because he is older than her. There is nothing wrong with it, they just didnt know how old the other was when they first got together, and when they found out they didnt care. I'm quite touchy about it because I'm in an age gap relationship too so have faced the narrow-mindedness and ignorance that she has.

I would just like to know what you think, from a 25 year old's point of view and maybe from an older blokes point of view. Although I'm around her age (23) our situations are completely different so I don't know what advice to give her.

    Thank you in advance :)

  • What do I do about my partners daughter?

Ok- I apologise right now because this damn thing is going to be really long- and thank you in advance for your answers and patience for reading the whole thing.

I have a HUGE problem with my partners daughter. For reasons of anonymity I'll change everyones name except my own. Me and my partner Tom have been together for 2 years and his daughter Tara STILL won't accept that I'm with her dad. I have tried so hard to get on with her, I haven't been too heavy, just chatting to her and trying to involve her when we do anything, we have even invited her on holiday with us to which she has said yes but only for the first week 'as she can't spend that much time with me'. I think she's an ungrateful cow, it's an all expenses paid trip of a lifetime to Florida and she said 'oh well if shes coming then I only want to come for a week'. I am absolutely dreading this holiday now, so much so that I am considering not going for the first week and flying out on my own the day she leaves, even though I've never been and really, really want to go!

This isn't the only thing. Whenever she comes to the house (she lives with her mother), she completely ignores me. I feel like I am unwanted in my own home. When we took her out for her 18th birthday for a meal in her favourite restaurant she didnt speak to me at all even though I was sitting opposite her and tried to talk to her. Her grandmother Pam (Tom's mum) gave her £20 in a card and all she could do was moan that it wasnt more. Luckily Pam wasnt there. Since Tom and his ex wife have split up, Tara has not been round to her nans once. She hasnt rung her even to say hello, not written to her, nothing. She lives 5 mins walk away and she drives. Pam is really upset by this, she hasnt seen her grandaughter for 2 years and thats why she only gave her £20 otherwise it would have been a lot more. Her nan can't contact her because her mum would go mad. Pam recently paid for my partners brother (Brian) 40th birthday meal out, had a lovely time and invited Tara, she came, ate and left while everyone else was still there without saying goodbye to anyone except her dad and her brother. she didnt say thank you for the meal and everyone thought she was really rude- there were at least 20 people there and she ignored them all. Last christmas me and Tom got her expensive gifts that she wanted and she gave Tom a gift which said 'To dad' on it. Bog all for me, not even 'to dad and melissa'. It's not so much the gift that bothers me as much as the fact that she deliberately excluded me.

She recently went on holiday with a couple of friends and the other night texted her dad and said can i pop round to see you. Tom said yes of course (he loves seeing her as he doesnt get to see her much now) so she texted back and said oh good because I have got you and Jon a gift from Spain. (Jon being her brother). I was furious! Not because I didnt get anything, to be brutally honest I didnt want cheap tat from a tourist shop, but the way she phrased the message. What she actually put was I have gifts for you and Jon. When she came round she completely ignoured me as usual and sat at the table playing poker with Tom, jon, brian and a few others that had come round. Tom also ignored me and has barely spoken to me since because I didnt bother trying to talk to her, I'd had enough. The day before that she got her a level results and I texted her to say well done, congrats and I got absolutely nothing back from her, she didnt even say thanks when she came round. Brian is furious with her as well for being such a brat, I spoke to him about it and he told me how annoyed he was. I have tried talking to Tom about her behaviour several times and have got nowhere. He always says to me 'I really want you to try and get on with her, its important to me that you two get on'. So why the hell should I try to get on with her anymore when she just throws it back in my face every single time? And why the hell can't he tell the little brat that she needs to grow up and get on with life like everyone else?

Once again I apologise for taking up so much of your time, but I would really like some advice on how to deal with her. Do I just do the same as her and ignore her or do I keep trying? But then why should I when ive tried non stop for 2 years and the little cow throws it back at me.

    Thank you for reading x

  • How do I kill a rose bush?

Please, please help me! I have searched the internet and all I found was to use boiling water or stump killer- I tried boiling water but I don't want to use any chemicals as I have a pond next to it, and I also have rabbits in the garden, and a dog and cat who use the garden, so I don't want to risk it. Please can you suggest something natural that won't harm my garden or pets?

I hate the stupid plant and I'm sure it's laughing at me! I've cut it right back to ground level (when I poured boiling water on it) but the horrible evil thing is throwing up green shoots and won't just DIE!!!!!

  • Help me, please, I dont know how to tell my partner that I want a baby?

He wants to get a vasectomy, which I was fine with at first, as he already has two kids from his previous marriage and he doesn't want any more. He is 45 and I am 25 and I really, really want a baby. When we spoke about it I was fine with it until he went to the doctor today, and it's becoming a reality now. A friend of mine has just had a baby and I went to see her a few days ago. She was telling me all about what it's like being a mum and I got so broody around her little one.

I know that my partner is the right person for me, I love him so much, but I really, really want to have a baby. I just don't know how to tell him.

    Thank you in advance.

  • Cancerian woman... compatible signs?

I am a cancerian female, my partner is a Libran male. I get so frustrated with him, he knows exactly how to wind me up and does it, then gets the hump when I go off in a strop. He knows I have depression and I find it hard to control my emotions, yet he still deliberately winds me up and upsets me. Is this typical of Librans, or is he being a git? I'm in a strop at this moment because I'm so stressed with him, and he has the hump with me, like it's my fault.

  • Am I overreacting to what my partner said?

Yesterday was our seven month anniversary of the day we got together. We normally do something on the day every month, just spend it together and then go out in the evening, but we couldnt this month. He had to see his kids (which I absolutely do not begrudge him at all), and he also had to go to a mediation session with his ex wife. I also understand that, too, but it's what he said while there. Apparently the woman asked him if our relationship was permanent, and he said, 'well it's early days yet, I'll see how it goes'. We've been together seven months, he told me very early on that he loved me, and I felt the same, we moved in together within a month, we've been on holiday together and agreed to buy a house, get married and have a baby. I feel so crap, it just keeps going round in my head that he thinks our relationship isn't that serious, and it's hurting me. We have been through so much together, I just feel he doesnt care anymore. Am I overreacting? Thanks in advance x

  • How do I stop being so angry with my boyfriend?

He spoke to me like I was a complete piece of crap, and I know why. He was at work, with a woman I know he thinks is attractive, he has admitted to me that he has flirted with her through text message and in person, and when i called him, he was really short and sharp with me. I got really annoyed, as i am having problems at work and needed his support, and havent talked to him for 2 days. He hasnt spoken to me either, but ive had enough with being angry with him. Im so bloody stubborn tho, i wont admit defeat. Please, i just need to know how to approach him. Thank you in advance. x

  • How do you get a biro stain from a cotton shirt?

I know I'm an idiot, but I had a biro in the pocket of my white trousers... put them in the machine and it leaked everywhere. Including over one of my partners' white work shirts. I have tried that Vanish Oxy stuff with no effect, and I'm panicking a little bit. I have washed it over and over, and it is a really expensive shirt! The stain won't come out! Help! I promise from now on I'll check every pocket twice! Thank you to anyone who can help
