  • Do Biocides kill Norovirus?

    Hey guys!

I'm a cleaner and the norovirus is going through the place I clean like a dose of salts!

I use a biocide that my company issued to clean the toilets and door handles/light switches/handrails (frequent contact areas) but am unsure if its actually killing the virus or just moving it on.

I'm not 100% what a biocide does that is different from an anti-bac.

Can anyone shed any light on it for me?

    Cheers in advance!

  • Is it ever okay to put Pop culture references in novels?

I've heard contradictory statements about putting pop. cul. references in novels and fiction due to the fact it may alienate eventual readers and decrease its longevity.

    But what do you think?

Can an author risk a pop culture reference?

  • Does this violate facebooks TOS?

A page i run has been approached by another page claiming to be president of a congress of pages that aims to 'unofficially' lead and 'punish' other pages which it considers malevolent.

Naturally, i want to tell them to bugger off, but i was wondering if there was a facebook 'technicality' i could threaten them with if they get persistent.

I tried to check through the TOS but they go on for pages and pages...

  • Too many platelets/white bloodcells?

A few months back I was told i have abnormally large amounts of white bloodcells and platelets in my blood. Yesterday i went to see a consultant and he went through possible diagnosis with me which included infection, anemia or a rare condition in which the bone marrow produces too many white blood cells.

I'm just wondering what this condition is called, and what to expect if i have it as i am really worried.

I should have asked the doctor but it kind of knocked me for six because i assumed it would go away on its own...

    Can anyone advise me?

  • How would one go about setting up a residential home for troubled teens?

How would one go about setting up a residential home for troubled teens?

I'm doing some research and was curious to know what someone would need to do to set up a residential home for troubled teens in the UK?

Who would be able to do it, what qualifications would the person in charge need, what licences would they need to apply for? What funding would be open to them? Who would regulate them?

    Any help would be great.

  • Want to turn my black hair red?

I've been dying my hair black since i was 18 and am now 26.

I'd like to strip the black from my hair and dye it a vivid red.

    How possible is this?

I have used colour b4 (boxed stuff you can buy at chemists) and its not even touched the black in my hair.

I've heard salons can apply a heavy dose of bleach to your hair and safely strip the colour leaving it ready for redying a week or so later.

Can anyone offer me advice on possibilities or prices for this treatment?

  • Promise ring question?

My boyfriend bought me a promise ring and put it on my engagement finger.

He told me that it was a promise to one day propose marriage to me when we were financially stable. A pre-engagement ring.

I've never heard of a promise ring before, can someone explain it to me?

  • Question on engagement etiquette?

Today i was reading a book on etiquette and it stated that as soon as a couple agree on the fact that one day they will be married they are considered 'engaged'.

Is this true or is a formal proposal required?

  • are adjectives welcome in science fiction/fantasy?

Today i was reading an article on writing and it said that i should use adjectives as little as possible within this genre?

Are adjectives off putting to science fiction/fantasy readers?

(don't worry, i will be steering clear of 'long golden tresses' and 'eyes that sparkle like diamonds' )

  • chinese painted quail egg/incubation question?

At last, our little hen has laid an egg. She laid it between 5-7 this evening and its her first one, she laid it inside woven nest that we bought for her and on occasion will stick her head in and check it is still there.

We've been reading as much as we can online and on quail forums and from books but some questions just aren't answered.

What we'd like to know is:

If we put the egg on nesting material, would it encourage her to sit?

Will cleaning their cage upset her will to incubate (if she wants to)?

Is cuttlefish enough to provide enough calcium for her?

We're expecting her to gather a clutch then sit, is she displaying all the right signs for incubation? (checking on her egg, eating healthily, telling the male off when he goes into the nest)

I know these questions may seem basic but we're new to this and can't quite find the answers we want.

    Thank you

  • male chinese quail making frog noises?

tonight our male chinese painted quail started making frog like noises, a low croaking.

Can anyone shed any light on what it may be?

He has a female and is still initiating mating with her on a regular basis.

  • male chinese painted quail initiating mating at least three times a day?

our little male quail has recently learned to mate and seems to be intiating it up to 3 times a day with his single hen who tells him off after he leaps off.

While he doesn't rip out her feathers and is quite gentle about it, she does seem a bit annoyed at him for it and tries to fend him off by climing her nest (we have a woven small mammal nest for her to nest up in)

What would be the right thing to do in this situation?

Do we just have a hen that isn't too keen on the mating or a rather horny male?

  • male chinese quail making curious noises?

Our male and female chinese painted quail have started mating in the last 3 days and suddenly, the male has started making curious noises.

The male will stand, call three or five times, then utter a low 'brooooooouhhh' noise, when the female chitters a bit, he is quiet, then continues.

He gets more persistant each time, then will utter a few more calls.

What is this behaviour? Could my female me getting ready to lay some eggs? or be nesting?

  • Question about quails?

We have recently become the proud owners of a chinese painted quail (male) but we have been told that to keep the male happy we should aim to provide him with 3-4 hens to 'occupy' him.

How much space, height and width would be suitable for say our male quail and three hens?

And what is the usual thing to do with quail eggs?
