Do I need to change the transmission fluid in my Volkswagen Jetta?
I have a early 2005 (1999-2004 series) automatic VW Jetta (non-diesel) and am wondering if the transmission fluid should be changed?
I spoke with VW today and they told me it's sealed so it shouldn't be necessary-- and I spoke with a car mechanic who said it should be changed regularly, but it would be pretty costly to do. Would just like to get some opinions as to whether it's a necessary preventative maintenance action to take.
Volkswagen8 years agoI am filing a final 1065. When is the filing due date?
We closed our LLC on April 14, as we stated on our Articles of Dissolution. We are working on our final 1065 filing. Of course, because of the dissolution date, we are running on a short tax year.
I've seen on most websites that it's due 15th day of the 4th month after the closing of the business. Would this mean that our filing is due August 15th of this year?
2 AnswersUnited States9 years agoFan sites and use of images/content?
I see a lot of fan sites popping up every day for celebrities, etc... However I also see that they post many images of these people on their fan websites.
I have come to conclude that many of these sites do not obtain permission from the production /copyright manager.
Is it legal for them to do these things?
2 AnswersLaw & Ethics1 decade agoLPT to USB printer - not being detected?
I have a LPT printer, with a USB converter cable that plugs into the computer. However the computer does not detect the printer because it is a serial cable, which is not automatically recognized. It also cannot be added via the control panel because it is USB and not LPT...
Drivers can only be installed if recognized by PC.
Any ideas how to set this up?
Thanks =)

2 AnswersCell Phones & Plans1 decade agoBuying iPhone without contract?
Is it possible to walk into the Apple or AT&T store and purchase an iPhone without a contract, and how much would that cost?
I just want the iPhone to mess with and maybe later come back for a contract with AT&T? (The Apple store is a drive away from here so I can get my answer faster here)
The unlocked version is way too expensive considering I'm not using it for a phone for a little while..
Thanks
5 AnswersCell Phones & Plans1 decade agoCan I run a 32-bit App on a 64-Bit PC? (bypass)
I have a 64-bit PC and I'm trying to run a 32-bit app which tells me that I cannot install the 32-bit application on my 64-bit PC. This 32bit app requires Windows Vista in order to run.
Is there a way to bypass this and make the application believe that it is running on a 32-bit PC and not 64-bit?
Thanks~~

1 AnswerUnited States1 decade agoWhere can I find a chart of the local tax rates in NC?
I am looking for a chart or map of the local sales tax rates for individual counties and|or zip codes (if possible) in the state of NC.
Can't seem to find it on the tax site but maybe I'm overseeing it, and there are lots of awesome people here who can answer this simple question. =)
Thanks
1 AnswerUnited States1 decade agoWhat is the statewide sales tax in Ohio?
I understand that the sales tax varies by county. However for those selling online, no matter what area in the state the sales tax remains the same.
What is the statewide sales tax in Ohio, or are these websites simply charging 7.5% and taking care of their taxes that way?
1 AnswerUnited States1 decade agoDMCA copyright act... and unlocking cell phones?
I know that the DMCA Copyright Act exempts the acts of unlocking cell phones until Nov. 2009.
What about the unlocked cell phones that manufacturers make and sell? For example, TigerDirect sells unlocked cell phones but does not unlock them. Does this Copyright Act apply to them next year, and they will no longer be able to sell unlocked phones?
Or does this Act solely apply to the act of unlocking locked cell phones...?
Thanks!
1 AnswerLaw & Ethics1 decade agoJava - Logical guessing game - simple question about how to get started?
I'm trying to create a program where the computer guesses a number that you have chosen and guesses until it has found the right number.
Now, it should not guess a random number, but should make the most logical guesses to reach the destination.
The first guess would be 50, and then it would decide if it were larger or less than, then guess either 25 or 75, etc until it reached the number the user chose it to be, between 1 and 100.
How should I set this up to start with?
I can't seem to be able to figure out the loops about it.
Thanks!
3 AnswersProgramming & Design1 decade agoCan I send payments in my account with a credit card and not bank account?
I have a PayPal account which is not confirmed yet, and need to send a few bucks to someone.
I don't want to go through adding my bank account and all that.
Is it possible to just add my credit card or whatever on PayPal so that I can send payments via that instead of having to take the hassle of adding the bank account, etc?

2 AnswersLaptops & Notebooks1 decade agoI have an external hard drive enclosure.. shutting it off?
I have an external HDD enclosure, and the manual says to use the safe remove hardware in the taskbar before shutting off the drive.
However, I plan to use it every time my computer is turned on. Is it safe to turn off the PC, then shut the switch off, or do I really have to safe shutoff the drive before turning it off?

2 AnswersSoftware1 decade agoJava looping an input?
Ok here's what I'm trying to do.
I have this line:
while(true){
System.out.println("Enter a letter: ");
data = reader.readChar();
if(data == 'A'){
data += 4;
data++;
... that's about it, nothing else important...
What I need to do is make the input field loop 6 times, asking for a letter each time, so using the read.Char() class above.
Then need to have the data taken, added to the count, updated until all 6 times has been input by the user.
How might I set up a loop so that it'll continue to loop, then after the six times it will jump to a new set of data below this loop?
Thanks
2 AnswersProgramming & Design1 decade agoCMOS Wipe locked me out completely?
I recently ran a program to erase CMOS settings using a BIOS tool in the Ultimate boot CD.
I ran the safe CMOS erase and rebooted the computer, then it showed me a quick error that I missed, and it went to a screen asking me for a BIOS password. I have no idea what it is or how to find out what it is.
Is there any way to reset this completely, and how can I do that?
By the way, I have an IBM Thinkpad R52 - 1858.
Thanks!
