I am a teenage girl from California. I am interested in all things animals. I love livestock, as well as dogs. My while family is very involved in animals. My oldest cousin runs an out of home animal rescue, and my aunt breeds and shows Great Danes. I myself have 2 Chihuahuas, and one cat. I am on this site to learn what I can about animals from the Yahoo Answers community, as well as propose solutions to problems from fellow animal lovers. I pride myself on being truthful- I dont sugar coat things. I also like to think of myself as mature for my age. I want to be seen as an equal to adults on this site. I want to give honest, helpful answers, and earn respect from the Answers Community.
Could the rain be scaring my cat?
My cat is not very clingy. She likes to be petted, but she isn't a lovey cat. Right now she is in my bed, trying to dig under blankets, and climbing all over me. She was meowing and acting strange. She never does this type of thing. Usually she never wants under blankets, and i can find no explanation for her behavior besides the fact that it is raining outside. Its not a storm or anything, but its raining pretty hard and there is a lot of wind. She has never acted this way before during the rain. Has anyone elses cat ever done this?? Right now the wind is rattling the gate in my yard, do you think that could be freaking her out?? Any help is appreciated.
1 AnswerCats7 years agoWhat are you supposed to wear to church?
I have to go to church on Sunday. I really don't want to go, but I don't have a choice. What do I wear? I have no idea how church people dress. All of the skirts I own go either to the floor, or just above my knee. I have black flats, and closed toed back heels. I dont have any causal dresses. I am worried that i will look too dressy, too casual, or wear something too revealing. I am a 15 year old girl, and it is a Christian church.
Please no lectures on why church is great. I have my reasons for why I dont like it, and why I dont want to go.
3 AnswersEtiquette7 years agoDoes your dog know any strange commands?
I don't mean standard commands like sit, stay, etc. I mean ones that you came up with yourself. For example, my dogs know the command 'Not Okay' which means they are doing something bad, and need to stop immediately. They also know 'Dont be rude' which means no begging for scraps of food, jumping on people for attention, or barking at people. I just want to know any special things your dog knows, certain commands, tricks, etc. Thanks for sharing :)
17 AnswersDogs7 years agoMy dog skipped breakfast?
I rarely ask questions about my dog's health because usually there is an obvious answer- the vet. This time i am a little unsure. My younger Chihuahua didn't eat breakfast this morning. Her food was set in front of her, and she walked away, uninterested. I put her food bowl away, and let her outside. She went potty, layed in the sun for a while, and ate grass. She is acting normal, aside from not eating. I am worried because this behavior is not normal for her. She never skips meals. I want to know what you think. Should I take her to the vet right now, or wait until dinner time, and see if she eats then? Right now she is sitting on the sofa, chewing on her toy.
6 AnswersDogs7 years agoCan i get At&t wifi for my home?
I am not an At&T customer, I never have been but I am looking to purchase internet for my home. Can I get just internet from At&T? Or do I need to have a smartphone or TV package as well? I understand that it varies depending on where you live, and I know At&T is available in my area.
2 AnswersComputer Networking7 years agoWhy do people believe it is 'healthy' to let a female dog have puppies before spaying her?
I have heard this theory everywhere. Some people say it is better for their mental health, and will help them grow into a well adjusted adult. Some people say it is physically healthier for them, and will allow them to live longer. Who came up with this idea? Is it true?
I have 2 female dogs, and they were both spayed at about 6/7 months. Neither of them has ever had puppies, and they are just fine....
8 AnswersDogs7 years agoWhat's with the husky obsession?
Lately I have been hearing a lot about Siberian huskies. They are all over the place, no one at school will shut up about them, everyone on the internet and especially Yahoo Answers is interested in buying a husky. Husky mixes like pomskies, pitskies, and labskies have been popping up all over the place. I want to know WHY. Why are huskies 'in' all of a sudden? I can't recall any recent movies or tv shows with a husky star that would make people want one, and I just don't understand!!
4 AnswersDogs7 years agoDo you take your dogs to the vet for regular check ups?
Im just wondering how often you take your dogs to the vet. My dogs go every six months for a check up, and routine teeth cleaning for my youngest Chihuahua (she has really bad teeth if we don't clean them). It seems like most people wait until something is wrong to take the dog to the vet. How often do yours go, and for what reasons?
14 AnswersDogs7 years agoExercise during the rain?
I have 2 female chihuahuas. I walk them twice a day (morning and evening) because we have a small backyard, and because they need exercise. Right now, the weather is awful. It is pouring outside. It rained all last night, and it is still raining. My whole neighborhood is in a puddle!! I skipped their walk this morning, and they were very upset. They both waited by the door to go out, and danced around me when I walked through the house to try and get my attention. I took them in the backyard to potty, and they ran in as soon as they could because it was WET. Now, they are both hyper. I have been playing with them since i got home from school, but they are still restless, and im running out of games to play. I cant take them outside, what can i do to burn some energy as well as entertain them while this weather continues?
6 AnswersDogs7 years agoCan my dog eat Rice Chex cereal?
Ok this may sound like a stupid question but im just curious. Im eating rice chex right now (dry, without milk) and my dog really wants some. Would it be alright if i gave her like 3 pieces? She is a small dog, and she never gets people food. Would Rice Chex upset her tummy?
7 AnswersDogs7 years agoAnti Virus Protection?
Im getting a new laptop, and I was wondering what kind of anti virus protection is the best, how much it will cost, and what will happen if I don't have anti virus protection. I've never had my OWN computer before, so I'm used to having my parents handle all this stuff. Sorry if I sound a bit stupid!!
7 AnswersSecurity7 years agoYour thoughts on spaying/neutering pets?
Both of my female dogs are spayed. I spayed them because I had no plans to breed the dogs (they are not breeding quality) and because I didn't want them going into heat. I've never had male dogs, but i know that neutering them can reduce aggression and of course make them unable to sire pups.
I am well aware of the pet over population crisis, but I have heard a lot of talk about how spaying and neutering is 'animal abuse' and how 'every dog deserves to have puppies' I have no plans to breed dogs, or avoid spaying/neutering them, I just want some opinions on this subject. Do you think its right to spay and neuter pets? Why or why not?
10 AnswersDogs7 years agoWhy does this offend people?
My 9 year old Chihuahua is not super good with kids. She can get easily over whelmed around them, and they just freak her out. I dont let her around small kids for this reason. She's never hurt anyone, but i would hate for her to nip at someone's kid. When i take her for walks, little kids always ask to pet her, and i always say 'No, she doesn't like to be petted while she's on her leash,' or 'She's not a very nice doggy, you shouldn't pet her' usually this kind of upsets the kids, and i understand. The other day, i was in Pet Smart with my dog and a lady with her 4 children came and asked if they could pet the dog i said no, and told her that my dog doesn't really care for children. The women looked appalled. She grabbed her children, and practically ran out of the store. Now im wondering why this always seems to upset people. Im just warning them that if they pet my dog, they might get bit. Does this happen to other people?? Just curious.
11 AnswersDogs7 years agoNames for a litter of show puppies?
My family breeds Great Danes, and my favorite ***** is going to deliver her first litter soon. I am so excited, the mothers registered name is All About Love (her call name is Kisses) and she is amazing. She earned her championship a couple of years ago and the puppies are going to be fabulous because she is gorgeous and has great temperament, so does the father. I wanted some ideas on puppy names, or themes for the litter. We wanted the litter to be named after their mother, but in case you are wondering the father's name is Universal Harmony. Any help is appreciated!!

2 AnswersDogs7 years agoThis cat is bleeding?
I found a cat outside last night. I don't know who she belongs too but it was cold, and so i let her in my garage to sleep. I think she is going into heat, too. This morning i went to check on her and there are fresh blood spots around our garage. I looked her over and she is not hurt. She is acting completely normal. She went potty, and ate her food and drank water. She doesn't seem like she is hurt at all. Do some cats bleed when they are in heat (i dont know, my other cat never really went into heat, and she is spayed) Should i just keep an eye on her?? She is not pregnant, i know that. And i dont think she has been bred.
2 AnswersCats7 years agoIs this a good essay topic?
For my english class we have to write an 'I believe' essay. Basically, we have to write about something we believe in, and give examples of how it has shaped us as a person. I was thinking of writing about my dog. I know it sounds silly, but she has really helped me shaped my personality, and make me who I am today. I worked out a topic paragraph, and i wanted to know your thoughts on it.
I believe in the power of a creature. I believe that the light shed by an animal can change us for the better. For before this animal, I knew not what it was like to be loved unconditionally, and to be completely adored by a living being. I believe that to care for an animal, no matter how small, gives a purpose, and can make us see the true meaning of existence, as well as know that you have been entrusted with a life. I believe that an animal is a gift, one that should he cherished, and treated with love and respect, for if we cannot love a pure creature, how can we love a human being?
So is that a good opening paragraph? Is the topic of the essay good? Is it too mushy? I know that right now its not focused on my dog, but I was thinking that the body of the essay would be more about my experience with her, and the opening/closing paragraphs would be about animals in general, and all the things they can teach us. Thanks in advance for reading this for me!!
P.S. I am posting this in the dog section instead of homework help because I think that the people in the dog section will understand the meaning of the essay more then anyone else. I feel like you guys will understand the emotions behind the essay more, and be able to get the full meaning because you all care about animals, especially dogs.
3 AnswersDogs7 years agoAre break away collars really necessary?
My cat doesn't go outside, but she wears a collar and tag for emergency purposes. My mom bought her a cute collar that matches her tag, but it has a mettle buckle on it, similar to one on a belt. I know that a lot of people recommend having a break away collar on a cat, incase they get caught on something. I just wanted to know if they are really needed? Do I need to get my cat a break away collar, or will she be okay, being as she doesn't go outside?
5 AnswersCats7 years agoI want to take riding lessons?
Hi! I am a 14 year old girl, and like most i love horses. I don't have a horse, and i will probably never get one (my family cant afford it, and we don't have the space). My cousin has horses, but because i am not an experienced rider, i don't do much with them. I really want to take riding lessons, so that i can get used to horses and learn to ride them. I have talked to my mom about it, but i was wondering if it is a big waste of time for someone who doesn't have a horse to learn to ride?? I just want your point of view.
5 AnswersHorses7 years agoMy neighbor keeps letting his dog go in our front yard?
I have two small dogs. I do not let them in my front yard without a leash because we live my a very busy street. I do take them for walks every evening, and let them stop in my front yard to potty.
My neighbor lets his shitzu out if his front door EVERY FREAKIN EVENING to come and poop in MY yard. His dog always comes out and barks and growls at my dogs. He is aggressive and seems to be hell bent on attacking my Chihuahua. I usually am able to scream at his dog, or kick at him, and get him to run home, but lately he has been getting especially feisty. He has gotten so bad that i will walk out in my front yard, check to see if he is out, then go get my dogs for their walk. I am also sick of cleaning up/ stepping in dog crap that is in my yard. I know it is him, I see him do it every evening out if my bay window. As I said earlier, I live by a busy street. Im concerned for this dogs safety. I don't want him to get hit by a car, or attacked by another dog.
I have tried speaking to his owner, but he refuses to compromise and keep his dog out my yard. I even brought him a leash and harness as a gift, and suggested that he take his dog out on a leash instead of letting him gallivant around the neighborhood. I finally told the guy that if the dog is in my yard again, I would call animal control. When I called them, they told me that they "Don't handle owner disputes" and that I would either have to call the police, or talk to the guy myself. I don't want to calm the cops. I try to have good relationships with all of my neighbors, after all I do live by them. I don't want this guy to hate me, but I don't want his dog in my yard, biting my dogs, or getting ran over. Has anyone else had this problem?? What can I do before I resort to calling the police??
