  • Installing 3 pickups in a Telecaster?

    Hi y'all,

Need some advice on installing one strat neck pickup, one middle (rw/rp) pickup, and one tele bridge pickup. Standard Strat 5-way switch, standard wiring.

I was wondering if I need to snip the ground wire on the bridge pickup that is soldered to the copper plate, to have the middle and bridge pickups in parallel and hum-cancelling?

Strat pickups are Suhr V54's, bridge is a Lollar Vintage T.

    Thanks in advance!

  • Car overheated - should I change my oil as a precaution?

Installed a block heater in my 2010 Civic Si, (1500 kms), and I let the car overheat slightly while idling while I was bleeding the cooling system - ie: engine got really hot before thermostat opened and coolant reached the boiling point. No resulting damage.

I just changed the oil and filter about 500 kms ago - Mobil1 5w30, Wix filter. Oil looks new and is still at the correct level. Should I change the oil again as a precaution?

  • Clicking coming from bottom bracket/crankset?

Any fellow bike techs out there? I can't seem to remedy this problem: '04 K2 Zed team frame, bb shell threads in good shape. There's a single click sound coming from that area every right-hand pedal downstroke under power. I replaced the bottom bracket, (shimano 63x113 english, square taper, lots of fresh grease), tried different clipless pedals, tried the customers' pedals on a different bike, installed a new chain and double checked every link. Crankset offset is good, everything lines up, drivetrain shifts perfectly, torqued crank arm bolts to 39 ft/lbs, but still that click?? Crankset is a Truvativ Stylo, chainrings and teeth are all straight and in good shape. I even checked the cleats on the customers' shoes for wear/tightness and binding. What am I missing? Any ideas you have would be greatly appreciated and thanks in advance!

  • Nikon 18-200 lens question?

Anybody try this lens for fast action shots in good light, like a car race or sporting event? Is it fast enough to stop the action at 200mm - under 800 iso? How did you like the results?

  • Are '91-'04 Dodge Dakota wheels compatible with '05 and up Nissan Frontiers?

Dakota specs - 6x114.3 bolt pattern, 71.5mm hub bore, +32 offset

Frontier specs - 6x114.3 bolt pattern, 66.1mm hub bore, +30 offset

Aside from requiring hub spacer rings, 71.5 od, 66.1 id, will the Dakota wheels fit on the Frontier/Xterra? I don't know if the lug nut seats are the same - Tire Rack tech says these wheels are not compatible - am I missing something?

Much appreciate any help as I can't find inexpensive used wheels anywhere locally for my Frontier, but used Dakota/Durango wheels are common on the used classifides!

  • Can I connect a larger external monitor to my Thinkpad?

When I plug the monitor into the external monitor plug in side of the laptop, the monitor goes black. When I unplug it, the monitor says, "No data sync". Do I have to enable the external monitor somehow through my control panel? Any help is much appreciated! (Windows XP, IBM Thinkpad T40).

  • Question for the ladies...what would you think about dating a 32 year old virgin?

My best friend is not shy, he's very good looking, not attracted to guys, has a good job and lots of good friends, but he takes dating and especially sex very seriously! He agrees that sex is so much better when you're in a loving and caring relationship. He's been in a couple serious relationships, but hasn't found Miss Right. The ladies like him, but always become "just friends" because he takes his time when it comes to getting to know someone new, and is afraid of rushing into something. I figure the ladies think he's not interested in them "that way", (but I could be wrong?).

My girlfriend says that if she had a sister, she would want her to date him! I suggest to him that if the girl is interested and if he's comfortable and it feels right, then go for it! Once he loses his virginity, he will realize that sex is fun and not so serious.

What advice would you give him and what do you think?
