Installing 3 pickups in a Telecaster?

Hi y'all,

Need some advice on installing one strat neck pickup, one middle (rw/rp) pickup, and one tele bridge pickup. Standard Strat 5-way switch, standard wiring.

I was wondering if I need to snip the ground wire on the bridge pickup that is soldered to the copper plate, to have the middle and bridge pickups in parallel and hum-cancelling?

Strat pickups are Suhr V54's, bridge is a Lollar Vintage T.

Thanks in advance!

    Hello there,

As to your question, no, you can leave the ground.

One thing to check. I don't recall off hand which of the Tele pickups is wound the samd as the middle Strat pickup (could be either the Tele neck pickup or the bridge pickup). You need to check that. For example say the Tele bridge pickup is wound the same as the middle (reverse wound) Strat pickup, then to get hum cancelling, you would put a Strat neck or bridge pickup in the middle of your configuration and a Strat middle pickup at the neck position. If you follow what I mean. A quick way to check is place the pickups face to face. If they repel, they are wound the same. If they attrach they are wound opposite.

A Telecaster bridge pickup gained't in good structure your wide-spread Strat bridge. A Telecaster bridge pickup is supposedly fastened onto a metallic plate to furnish that twang. yet that would want to also supply upward thrust to microphonic feedback if no longer accomplished good. in case you want a Tele twang, then get a Tele guitar until eventually someone who might want to custom your strat to sound very close to to that. yet searching on the price in touch, you're extra constructive off getting the Tele as a 2d guitar.
