How is not having children selfish?
Honest question to how that is, in any capacity, a selfish act. I can't make sense of the assertion.
I mean, if someone doesn't feel like they are capable of successfully raising a child, why would you want them to do it anyway? To me, that seems like it would do a lot more harm than good for both the parent(s) and child/ren, and it's not like we have a shortage of children in the world or anything.
Can someone please explain to me the reasoning behind saying it is selfish?

Just curious.
2 AnswersPregnancy6 years agoWhat on Earth is this freaky bug?!?
It looks like it creeps in a warm climate, but I have insufficient Googling skills to find out anything about this particular... thing.
I don't even know if it's an insect or an arachnid or what. All I know is I need to know what and where to make sure I never, ever have to see it in reality.
2 AnswersZoology6 years agoSpiritually speaking, how important is language to bonding with other humans to you?
Here's an interesting spiritual thought I had: can you be friends with someone without ever saying a word to them?
Like, not ever physically ever speaking or verbalizing anything to them, but without ever being able to understand anything as recognizable words. Imagine if someone spoke a language you had never even heard spoken before and vise virsa and neither of you had any interest in learning or attempting to teach the other your language. Could you consider yourself friends with that person?
And I don't mean the nebulous "you" of all of humanity, either, because I think humans are capable of it-- I mean, YOU. I am asking you, as a person, could you find another human being and just disregard language and make friends with a person even if you have no idea what the words they're saying mean?
TL;DR
I would like to get some actual feed back from some of you, because I'm curious about all of your thoughts on the matter; how important to you is language to bonding with other humans from your point of view?
Spiritually speaking, that is.

9 AnswersReligion & Spirituality7 years agoWhy does Leviticus trump Jesus?
Now, I'm not a Christian, so I may be missing something, but I'm pretty sure anything Jesus said to do pretty much comes before anything else anyone else says, being the (supposed) son of god and all.
Now, Jesus said (and I'm paraphrasing here) to love everyone; not love everyone except if you think they're icky or wrong, love everyone. The passage from Leviticus " Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination." and subsequent passages about what to do with men who do lie with other men is the only place I can actually find in the Bible that anyone can be sure actually refers to homosexuality. (Most other cases are ambiguous at best.)
On top of that, Leviticus was in the Old Testament, and didn't Jesus do the whole dying for your sins thing so we didn't have to worry about all of the outrageously assholeish rules god (supposedly, again) imposed on humanity all throughout the Old Testament?
I'm confused by this. Why do some Christians claim that they reject homosexuality as a sin because of the Bible when the character they're supposed to care the most for (Jesus) pretty much disavowed that kind of behavior?
Does Jesus not trump Leviticus? Is the spawn of god less important for some reason?
11 AnswersReligion & Spirituality8 years agoSpiritually speaking, does this make anybody else really happy?
The idea that humanity will probably be the biggest contributing factor in our own species' extinction makes me super happy. Does anybody else get as giddy about this as I do?
Also, does that make me a super villain?
7 AnswersReligion & Spirituality8 years agoA highly religious and spiritual matter! Help!!!!!!!!?
This is a pseudo-intellectual statement that is intentionally demeaning to people who do not hold to my particular set of beliefs. If you think differently from me, you are wrong and stupid, and I am now claiming superiority and demanding proof that your stance on religion and spirituality is a valid view point.
I will counter everything you say in your own defense with an absurd claim that insults your moral character.
I am now proceeding to add a question mark at the end of this sentence to say I've followed Yahoo! Answers guidelines even though this so called "question" was just composed to stroke my own ego and to upset other users: what'cha spiritually gonna do about it?

18 AnswersReligion & Spirituality8 years agoSkyrim does strange things sometimes, but is this normal or just a weird glitch I've managed to stumble on?
Alright, gamers, so I'm playing Skyrim, right? And I just completed the "Blood on the Ice" mission and take a merry little trip onto Calixto's place for a nice looting, where, naturally, the first thing I do is use his key to unlock the chest. I pick up the "Butcher's Journal" just fine and dandy, read it, and put it into my inventory all peachy keen wonderful.
The weird things start to happen when I try to read it from in my inventory. When I go from my inventory, instead of displaying the text, my character goes into an animation as though it were the Elder Scroll, where she pulls out the paper and the same natal-chart-type pattern and a few seconds of a blurry, similarly patterned fish-eye, bubble type lenses.
So I have a few questions here, really.
A.) Is this supposed to happen? I don't think it is, but I might just be forgetting something that explains it away.
B.) And given that it is not supposed to happen, does this happen often to people that you know of? I did a search and I haven't run into anything to the extent, but again, I might just be missing the obvious here.
And C.) For anyone who may know, do you think it will effect any other part of the game to have a retarded, butcher diary Elder Scroll in my inventory?

10 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoSo, when you think of video game characters who hate pottery...?
... Who do you think of? I mean, it's a pretty common theme to smash the hell out of pottery throughout a game's environment when you're looking for health or money or experience points... I know there has to be a billion characters that abuse pots for their own devious means, but my brain just refuses to think up any more then three of 'em.
So far, my list goes:

Kratos
The Prince (of Persia)
Then I sort of get off track because I'm too busy thinking about the Legend of Zelda, Prince of Persia, and God of War.
I would really appreciate it if you fine yahoo answer-ers could help me with this, I'm just awful at staying on track, and I seem to be stuck in a loop of three games to drool over...
