  • Overbearing/intrusive guy friend! Help!?

Hey fellow Y!ers. I want to preface this by saying I am an adult and I am seeking the advice of other adults. While I appreciate the refreshing perspective of a teenager, I think this situation calls for a little more "experience".

So, here goes...I have a male friend who is crossing a few lines and I don't know how to approach it. He texts me as soon as he wakes up and continues to text me all day...even after I tell him I am going to bed. If I don't text him back he will text me passive aggressive messages like "I guess you're busy again". On Saturday night I told him I had a friend over and we were having a sleepover night with our families (5 kids combined). Am I wrong in thinking that a normal person would assume I would be busy, and not just that, but it's rude to be on the phone while I'm hosting guests? Not him, he text me a dozen times asking random questions, making passive aggressive comments just to get me to respond. I made a stand and I did not text him back until yesterday. Well, I am kind of a people pleaser so this made me feel guilty so I fibbed. I told him my phone was cut off for the last few days. His response? "I cannot believe you let your phone get cut off. You should have told me so I could pay your bill. I don't like not being able to talk to you." Wait...what?!? What is the psychology behind this? Why on earth would I ask a friend to pay my bill, even if my phone really was cut off??

On the same note, he is ALWAYS offering me unsolicited help. As a "chronic helper" myself, I thought I understood this, but he takes it to a whole new level. He insists on switching his work schedule to watch my kids when I'm in a bind, even though I'm not letting him watch them. He started refusing to let me pay for my tattoos, so I'm not letting him do them anymore. This sucks because he started put as my tattoo artist and a friendship bloomed from there and I REALLY don't want to find another artist.

Another instance, I took my car in to have the breaks done and come to find out he traded the mechanic some "tattoo time" for a portion of my bill ($150 worth!).

Does he just seriously lack social skills or am I missing something? I have NO idea what to do. I want to keep him as a friend, and my artist, but I can't deal with these things. He is a Sagittarius, and if you know anything about that kind of guy, you know EVERYTHING hurts them and they take everything personally. Help!!

  • Texas Family Law - If we each have custody of one of the children, who pays child support?

My friend is going through a divorce with 2 biological children. If he takes possession of his son and she (the ex) keeps possession of the daughter, who will pay child support. Isn't a child support order mandatory in Texas? Neither should pay child support, correct? What happens?

  • Would this be considered rapid weigh gain?

Ok, First let me say that I know I am not fat, nor am i complaining. I am concerned and need help. Please no hateful messages.

I am 25 years old with 2 children. All of my life (outside of pregnancy) I have been 98 lbs. My weight has never fluctuated more than 1 pound.

All of the sudden I have gained 13lbs. It has been over the course of 2 months. I know that 13 lbs is not a lot of weight and 2 months is quit a bit of time, but considering i went from 98lbs to 111lbs; is that unhealthy?

Most people say that my metabolism is slowing because of age and because of having kids, but my youngest just turned 4. Also, my mother and father are stick skinny. My BMI is still way into the normal range, but I am just concerned that I gained that much weight that fast.

    Would you be concerned?

  • Is SNL and/or Tina Fey impacting your view on Sarah Palin?

I keep hearing that the Republican party is saying that the SNL skits of Sarah Palin are negatively affecting their race for the White House. Is this true for you? Anyone changed their vote because of the skits or given it a second thought?

  • Major In-law issues? Please Help!

To make a long story short, it seems my longtime boyfriend's ex wife and mother have formed some sort of pact and now the mother wont have anything to do with my boyfriend and refuses to meet me, but is staying close to the ex wife. We each have 2 kids from previous marriages, so the ex wife is also the mother of the kids. We are afraid that the mother and the ex wife might be leaving a bad taste in the mouths of his children about us and our relationship. What should we do? We want to make sure that the kids are not being put in the middle of something they have no control over, and should not be exposed to.

Has anyone seen any really great movies that are out on DVD now? I'm really in the mood to see a great movie from the comfort of my chaise tonight!

It can be comedy, horror, drama...I don't care. Just something really good!

  • Fellow Women, Do I choose safety and security or genuine fun and happiness?

First and foremost I am a mother so my decision are always based on what is best for my kids, but I am stumped. I am generally a social butterfly and enjoy the occasional night out and being surrounded with friends.

I am in a relationship now with a man who gives me safety, security and stability..all things that are very important to me, but he lacks that fun/personable side. All of my friends call him "Boring *name*. What do I do? That fun side is important to me too! I need someone with a sense of humor that can make me laugh!

Im afraid if i let him go, I will be letting go of a good thing. What if I dont find someone who gives me everything I am looking for?

What would you choose? Someone who makes you feel safe and secure or someone who you know will make you laugh every single day?

  • What are the best POS systems for bars?

We are opening a bar/lounge in the Dallas area and we are pricing POS systems right now for the budget, but I cant seem to find on that I am comfortable with. We realize the cost of these systems so money is really no object as we are looking for a sort of all-in-one system and we are willing to pay for the best hardware/software. We are looking for something that will track sales, obviously, inventory, payroll and something that is fast and efficient. We also want something that has a "bartenders bible" or some sort of managable recipe book for drinks that can be easily accessed in a hurry. As a former bartender, I hate asking for the recipe for a drink.

  • What are the average rates for in home childcare in the Dallas, Tx area?

I am a single mom of 2 who just lost child care subsidies because my income is "too high"; I make well under $30k so I dont really understand that. I cannot afford to pay for daycare along with all of my bills and gas to and from work, so I am considering starting my own in-home daycare. Does anyone know the average weekly rate for in home child care in the north Dallas area?
